Bryant was all over him. If it was the other way around, that would be DPI.
-
The defense is playing strong, Cooper with a nice play, and near interception.
-
Brown pushing off and no call of OPI. No way to defend him if that is the case.
-
Then back to the usual Glennon 3 and out and a punt to start the 2nd half. Good way to build off the first half.
-
Worst play I have ever seen a Bear make. You just caught a blocked punt in stride and ran for 73 yards and decided to stop at the 2 and you are stripped and fumble. We get the ball on the 1/2 yard line and then Leno commits a penalty and we settle for a FG. If we lose by 4 or less, Cooper should be cut. We have forced 3 turnovers, and have only 10 pts to show for them. You just can't win that way. We had the chance to build a 2x TD lead going into half and Cooper does that. What the hell was he thinking?
-
What the hell is going on? A blocked up, Cooper takes it the distance and decides to stop at the 2 with players pursuing and he fumbles! I can't believe he did that. What an idiot. How is that not a safety?
-
SHAHEEN with a TD! What an amazing concept. A play-action pass to an oft-used TE.
-
O-Line, Howard and Cohen look great. Howard with another bug run.
-
Cohen is insane! Stretch run to the left, Cohen reverses the field and goes for a huge gain. What the hell, Glennon throws to Sims and almost gets him killed. Then Glennon needles one to Miller. Looked like a great pass, but crazy into what was almost quadruple coverage. Miller crushed too. Glennon continues to miss wide open guys. I can't complain after that one though. Probably his best throw that was completed this year.
-
Glennon 3-5, 14 yds and 0 completions to WRs or TEs, 0 first down passes. The defense can't be expected to shut teams out. Then after playing some decent defense, they play off man inside the 10, making it an easy play for Brown. I don't understand that call by Fangio.
-
Thats hilarious, he is playing backwards.
-
I replayed it and he had a hand on his front and back, and when the player spun away from him, he fell down. So it may have looked like he was pushing the guys back but he was actually falling and the guy was spinning away from Shaheen.
-
Glennon with one of the most pitiful sacks I have ever seen. Glennon with a play action hand off and nonchalantly drops back like he is at practice. So then on the next two passes are screens 20+ yards behind the line of gain. So another 3 and out. Thanks Glennon.
-
Just like the last few years, the Bears getting BS calls against them. Shaheen with a block in the back when he was clearly blocking the guy from the side. Then insult to injury, he falls and I think he broke is wrist.
-
They basically have turned Glennon into a hand off machine. 11 straight runs? He looks horrible back there. In the 1st quarter, he will end up with 1-3, 0 yds. We got 2 take aways and only have 1 score for them. Bad football. If we can't score from the 50, we are in trouble.

3 and out, then a muff on the return (McManis with the recovery), Bears ball at PIT 29. Two throws by Glennon, a no-read quick throw to Cohen and a bad throw to Wheaton into double coverage.

I was thinking the Bears were holding out until MIN in Week 5 on Monday Night to give Trubisky maximum time to prep with the #1s, but the more I think about it, I believe they will go for next week vs GB. I don't care if it is a short week, it is a short week for GB and they would have very little time to prepare for Trubisky, so in a way, next week would be better. Surprise everyone and announce Trubisky the starter on Wednesday and let GB scramble with a new defensive game plan, because if they are expecting Glennon, they will not plan for contain/spy or for roll-outs or bootlegs. So I say put Trubisky in Week 4 if Glennon has another sub-par performance against PIT. I don't really know how to assess PIT because they beat CLE and MIN w/ a backup QB.

Spot on assessment of plays Jason. One thing I did notice, a bunch of his receivers were on a spot, stationary, comebacks, outs, etc. I don't remember a slant, post, or any seam routes, or if there were, there were very few. That stood out to me after watching the video. So I couldn't really assess if he could hit guys in stride or time throws to where they are going to be. Did you notice that? Does that even make sense? Very little opportunity for YAC. I wonder if I am just seeing things, or if it is real and planned. Another crazy thing about Watson, based on QBR, he is the 2nd best QB in the league (behind Ryan). Glennon is 26th. Kizer is 30th. I know QBR is no better than other analytics, but I thought it was interesting to see him that high after two weeks.

Exactly. Also, Sims' dead money for next year, only $666,667. Basically a one-year deal. In an interesting comparison, Demps' dead money for 2018: $666,667. Did Demps' 3yr deal make Jackson available to us? I wouldn't go that far, but for our 1st and 2nd round picks, it looks like Pace used our salary cap flexibility this year to mask his intentions. Now let's hope it works, otherwise, he will look like Lloyd Christmas.

With the lack of WR's, you would think that Sims would've been targeted more than what he has to this point. He is getting paid as a #1 TE, not a blocking TE. Also, we signed him and could've had Terrelle Pryor for a comparable deal. With the other TEs on the roster at the time of the signing, this one is still confusing. Were the Bears masking the early drafting of Shaheen by signing Sims to such a large deal? Other team in the league: "Man, there is no way the Bears are drafting a QB in the 1st after paying Glennon that type of money" Another team "Yeah, and with the signing of Sims, there is no way they are going TE early in the draft" So was Pace overpaying to mask his intentions? What else could it be? I know Shaheen is still "raw" but 0 targets? Brown - 0 targets. Miller has been targeted 15 times, Sims - 4? So Miller has almost 4 times the amount of targets than Sims/Shaheen/Brown, yet we spent a 2nd on Shaheen and a lot of money on Sims. Something just doesn't feel right.

Like others have said as well, the prep has to be it. They probably don't want him dealing with the Pittsburgh defense, and then GB on a short week. So the most logical time is following the blow-out loss to GB on nationally TV. Glennon is relegated to 5th String Kickoff holder and Trubisky gets the extra days to prep, plus it is a home game against MIN on Monday Night. The only way I see this not happening is if Glennon pulls something out of his you know what and wins 2 games.

O-Line play is very subjective to grade. Also, based on the offensive performance, it is easy to see how everyone would have a negative grade. If you are on a rowing team and the other rowers suck, it is hard to stand out. It seems like the deck is completely stacked against the O-Line and RB's: 1. horrible QB, 2. horrible playcalling/scheme, 3. no WR's, 4. injuries. Like lemon said, teams are constantly blitzing and stacking the box making it virtually impossible to do anything without at least the threat of a deep pass.
-
I don't like the Special Teams argument. Why does ST even matter if your offense sucks? You should improve your offense and defense first, then improve ST's. ST should not be a priority.

After two games, I am trying to figure out what the role of Sims is and why we paid so much for him. He has 2 receptions (the same as White on IR and Gentry who was released), and none vs TB (though one INT was targeting him). I thought he would have an expanded role with how much they paid him, but after two games, that doesn't seem the case. If he is just a blocking TE, we overpaid severely. He is on pace for 16 receptions and 176 yards for the year ($333k per reception).

or activate a Safety: We have 3 WR's on the active roster (Wright, Bellamy, and Thompson).
