They can't help that they signed Glennon before drafting Trubisky. I almost wish the draft was before the FA period. At the time of the Glennon signing, I don't know how confident they were in their "draft day" plan. So if Trubisky fell through, then they would have Glennon to fall back on and hope he would improve from his days at TB. I see this similar to SEA and Wilson, and Prescott in DAL. Both were rookies on teams where they had veterans and were not expected to start year one. SEA is probably more similar as they signed Flynn to be their starting QB. He played bad and Wilson played great and never looked back. I see our situation as very similar. Where Prescott's situation is similar is in the game plan. We need to build on a basic game plan and expand as fast as Trubisky, Shaheen, and Cohen can handle. I don't think this is a David Carr situation where HOU had no offensive line and the dude was getting sacked before he received the ball from the center. We have a very good O-Line and have a variety of weapons. I think you give Glennon another shot in Preseason Game #2, but if he has another poor game, you have to look at giving Trubisky the nod for Week #3 and have him start the opener.

The problem with Glennon is that he looks worse than Trubisky overall. Whether they are in individual drills, 7 v 7, 11 v 11, scrimmage, or preseason game. Glennon doesn't seem as comfortable in the pocket and when Trubisky came into the game, everyone, including the sideline had a jump in their step. Now with all this media attention, I can't imagine Glennon getting better if he is feeling the pressure.

Long has been a huge disappointment since getting paid, I hope we don't regret that contract. Injuries and now this?

We are now worrying about less than 500k with over 20mil in cap space when we are still technically under the floor? Teams have to spend over 89% of the cap over a three year period, so to keep things easier to manage, you probably don't want to drop too much under the floor in any given year since you can't go over. With that said, the Bears are about $1,820,000 from the floor AFTER Aguayo, so no issue here. I have more of an issue with $2mil in dead money for Cutler, or 600k for Gould.

I believe Aguayo was the most accurate kicker in NCAA history. He missed only 9 kicks (zero XP) in three years at FSU (198/198 for XP and 69/78 for FG) which is crazy accurate. Then he goes to TB and misses 11 kicks total out of 65 kicks? There is no way you can fall off the cliff that fast. There has to be something else to it (holder, long snapper, shoes, injury, mental). To me, this is a zero risk move with some very high potential to improve our kicking game. Also consider kickoffs, even with how bad Aguayo has been on FGs, he still had a better touchback percentage than Barth last year by a mile (65% to 40%), so that is something else to consider. OT: Jason, please check pinned FFB thread.

Trubisky throws a TD pass but it is dropped. Completely catchable ball. I am officially impressed with his overall play. Funny to hear Denver commentators discount everything (and inadvertently diss their own team). "He playing against college free agents", they say.

Trubisky to Gentry, on the move, away from pressure, wow.
-
Wow, 3rd and 17, and Trubisky with a dart to Thompson for the first.
-
Also remember the defense has only allowed 3 pts and stopped Denver on a 4th down for a turnover on downs. The defense quietly having a terrific game. Run defense has been stout.
-
Trubisky leads team on 12 play, 75 yard drive which results in a Cunningham rushing TD. Trubsiky now 9-9 for 74 yards, 1 TD, and a 12 yard run for a 1st Down. He seems really comfortable in the pocket, felt backside pressure (anti-Cutler), and has been very decisive and accurate with the ball. It is hard to temper the excitement, but you can see the entire team have a different attitude when Trubisky is in there. The defense was even excited watching the drive. I am watching on NFL Game Pass and it is the Broncos feed (ugh), but it is funny to hear them say it is hard to watch Trubisky move effortlessly down the field while Lynch struggles.

Trubisky is legit, quick release, nice on the move. A great start.
-
Glennon looks terrible. 2-8, 20 yds, 1 INT (for Pick-6) and some really bad throws. On the move, he put it at the feet of Miller on a ten yard throw. On his 2nd completion, he actually threw behind Wright who made the catch. Even his first completion wasn't anything impressive, as he hit a stationary Sims 4 yards away.
-
OK I was wrong.
-
Seriously, Glennon is going to make this an easy decision, 0-3 and an INT for a Pick-6. Seriously, you could not start any worse.
-
I would not be surprised if we have a decent second half with our backups and fringe players. The roster has improved significantly from the bottom up (or I hope it did) and if so, we should see that in the 2nd half.

Let me try this one. Glennon and Trubisky are both relative unknowns, and we knew what we had in Cutler. Glennon is making more than Cutler this year and is not "better" than Cutler. Trubisky has the potential to be the best of all 3 of them, but we can't make that assessment today. As of today, Cutler is probably the best of the 3. However, I am ok with the route Pace took. He cut ties with Cutler, which had to be done, and brought in Glennon as a bridge and potentially insurance in the event that Trubisky does not pan out or needs more time.

I believe he was saying, based on the other teams that had a QB need, none had the ammo to move up to #2 without giving their entire draft. We really were the only team and sort of bet against ourselves. Now at the end of the day, we didn't give up too much to move up one slot (and actually won the trade based on the draft value chart), but we probably could've gotten Trubisky at #3 without the need to give up picks.
-
Another option is to expand to a 12-team league. We only had a 10-team league due to interest.
-
Ary is the commish and I believe it was $25. It is a Keeper League, and we will have to see how many GM's are returning this year.
-
It is about that time to set a draft date and get the pay details squared away for this season. Also, any GM's not participating this year? Can we get a roll call? I'm in.
-
Glennon could also be a trading chip at the deadline or after the season.

Miami's O-Line ranked in the mid-20's, which spells doom for Cutler. He doesn't do well against pressure.
-
Ok fine, defense was horrible, but look at Cutler's numbers vs McCown's numbers in 2013; they are a really good comparison with basically the same team. Also, the year we hosted the NFCC, we had one of the best defenses in the league, so he has had the full gamut of teams. 2013: Cutler 19 TD, 12 INT, 7.4 Y/A McCown 13 TD, 1 INT, 8.2 Y/A The TD/INT says it all, and per attempt, McCown was better. Then you can fast forward to 2016 and Hoyer does the same thing, Cutler 4/5 and Hoyer 6/0. What I find interesting is how most of the national media (who hated Cutler) (and didn't like him on the Bears), loves him and finds him a perfect fit in Miami (some say better than Tannehill). Have you looked at their Offensive Line? It is hard to say it is better than ours from last year and he was sacked 17 times in his couple of games. I just feel like he is going to start our great with an easy schedule (TB, LAC, NYJ, NO) and potentially start 4-0, then lose 5 out of their next 6 and at some point he gets hurt. They go into the bye 5-5 and would be lucky to finish at 7-9 with 2x against NE, BUF, one against KC and DEN. I hope he works out and plays decent, but it would be tough to see him light it up after never living up to expectations here.

#1 (2013-2014) Jeffery, Marshall, Forte, and Bennett vs #2 (2017) Landry, Parker, Ajayi, and Thomas, who you got? I don't think it is even close. Cutler was 10-16 between 2013-14 with those skill position players.
