  1. One other thing to consider is we still have cap space left, so there is potential for some more wheeling and dealing. Eddie Royal is an easy cut at $5 mil cap savings and there are some other players they could move (Houston, Miller, etc) for more space.

    Our new LT

I don't think they are going to mess with Whitehair after how successful he was at Center. If anyone, it would be Long who is taller and has longer arms.
  3. With the draft complete, using our original picks, what would've been your dream draft knowing who was picked where? Only rule is you must select a player that would've been available at our slot and in the same round. Here would be mine: #3 - Solomon Thomas, DL (SF trades #2 to someone else, Thomas available at 3 since he is there, I take him) #36 - Sidney Jones, CB (wanted Cam Robinson, considered Baker and Jones, and ultimately went with a CB) #67 - Antonio Garcia, OT (the 3rd round looked much different than I expected, could've went several directions here) #111 - Eddie Jackson, S (I actually like this pick here, good job Pace, you got one right) #117 - Josh Reynolds, WR (I thought we could've used another WR as insurance) #147 - Jordan Leggett, TE (with the Sims signing, a TE later makes sense) #221 - Zane Gonzalez, K (best Kicker in the draft, still available in the 7th)
  4. 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama - (drafted 17th, a slight reach considering where he ended up) - Medical concerns dropped him 2. Ryan Ramcyzk, OT, Wisconsin - (drafted 32nd, would not be available at our pick) - we drafted OL - Jordan Morgan 3. Obi Melifonwu, FS, UConn - (drafted in the 2nd, would not be available at our pick) - we drafted S - Eddie Jackson 4. Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson - (drafted in the 5th round, a slight reach since he went in the next round) - we drafted TE - Adam Shaheen 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia - (drafted in the 3rd, would not be available at our pick) - Didn't need a CB with Prince and Cooper 5. Chad Kelly, QB, OleMiss - (drafted as Mr. Irrelevant, you reached by over 100 picks) - we drafted QB - Mitchell Trubisky 7. Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois - (drafted in the 3rd, would not be available at our pick) - we drafted RB - Cohen instead So 4 of your picks would not have been there when we selected, Allen went 14 picks later than our pick, Leggett wasn't drafted until the 5th, and Kelly was drafted 100 picks later.
  5. Yeah, my bad, reading UDFA stuff about Stevenson (and dreaming). Compton? Watch the Super Bowl, he came in and played great on the biggest stage.
  6. Here are our offseason acquisitions so far: QB - (from Cutler/Hoyer/Barkley): Mike Glennon Mitchell Trubisky Mark Sanchez Now with Trubisky on the roster, it will be interesting to see how long Glennon lasts as a starter. At this point, I don't know if we are actually better. Trubisky gives us the most hope. RB - Benny Cunningham Tarik Cohen A true FB and a Scatback. Some crazy diversity if you look at Howard, Langford, Cunningham, and Cohen. WR - Markus Wheaton Kendall Wright Reuben Randle Not a single WR draft pick, so we are banking on a healthy White with Meredith to go with Wheaton and Wright. On paper, this still has to be one of the worst WR corps in the NFL. White has to become a legit #1 in his 3rd year. TE - Dions Sims Adam Shaheen We overpaid for Sims, which is still odd to me. Shaheen has potential, so if Miller can stay healthy, we have a better TE corps than last year. OL - Tom Compton Jordan Morgan Seems like we are hoping on health for this group, and improvement from Massie and Leno. Slightly better because Compton is a stud swing tackle. DL - John Jenkins Not much done on the line and we have no new LB's, so the front-7 is basically unchanged. CB - Prince Amukamara Marcus Cooper With the cutting of Porter, and the addition of these two, CB's have improved exponentially since last year. I think Cooper is going to be one of those stealthy impact acquisitions. S - Quintin Demps Eddie Jackson Demps is a lock for one spot, and I can see Jackson pushing for playing time. The secondary is definitely better than last year.

who made huge holes for Dalvin Cook to run thru.
  8. An odd trend to Pace's picks over the last 3 years only 4 picks west of Chicago and only one technically "West" out of 20 picks: (Whitehair) Kansas State, (Hall) Northern Iowa, (Fabuluje) Texas Christian, and (Grasu) Oregon Is this a scout thing?

  12. I don't know how much the draft changed my opinion until I see how many of these players make an impact this year.
  13. and our picks actually helped others get better players at lower picks. If you look at our original picks and do a little revisionist draft, it is hard to see how this was the best draft outcome.
  14. and counter to his first two drafts, either Pace is a genius and everyone else is wrong, or he is no longer the GM in 2018. Based on the skill added to CLE, SF, and JAX, we are probably the worst team on paper right now. That doesn't mean anything until September but man it is tough right now.
  15. I am OK with it, but with the info on these players today, it is hard to outsmart others. Looks like a boom or bust draft. Swinging for the fences. Might as well, it's not like we can get much worse.
  16. With the No. 147 pick, the #Bears draft OL Jordan Morgan from D-II Kutztown. They coached him at the Senior Bowl. Draft trend, mainly small schools and sleeper picks. We will see how it works out.. It really feels like Pace tried to outsmart everyone else with some questionable trades and sleeper picks. We will see how these all turn out. Not what I expected.
  17. Bears take Sproles 2.0 at #119.
  18. We got Eddie Jackson, but gave up our 6th to get him. Now we only have two left.
  19. Pick #112: Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama Our last pick is in the 5th round. We now only have two picks left.
  20. Yeah, I don't know why people are hating on Trubisky, it is not his fault that Pace traded up for him. He is the highest drafted QB since 1951 for the Bears (Bob Williams) and tied for the highest all-time with Williams and some guy named Sid Luckman.

    Day three

We have 4th (117), 4th (119), 5th (147), 6th (197) left Scratch that, we now only have 119 and 147 left after trading up for Eddie Jackson.

    Doing the math for all our moves, we have gained the equivalent to pick #96: What we gave up: #3 - 514 #67 - 75 #67 - 75 (2018) #111 - 28 #36 - 166 #221 - 3 Total - 861 #2 - 717 #45 - 131 #119 - 24 #119 - 24 (2018) #197 - 4 Total - 900 #96

Done, I am all in, Shaheen could be the steal of the draft and if Trubisky becomes our franchise QB, we will look back on this draft as the turning point for our franchise.
  24. I totally missed this guy. Comments from Gil Brandt: "I think Friday morning of draft week... there will be teams vying to get near the top of Round 2 to take this tight end." Also: Several NFL tight end coaches (Bears, Saints, Steelers, Raiders, Lions) were present for tight end Adam Shaheen at Ashland’s pro day.
