  1. Unless we also pick up a long snapper in the 5th.
  2. At best we drafted our franchise QB for the next 15 years while only giving up some 3rd's and a 4th (which we got back later) and a huge RZ target who is going to give defenses some serious matchup problems.
  3. Interesting combine numbers, I did not know Shaheen led all TE's for the bench press. TE's 3, 4 , and 5 picked: #3 - Njoku, 6-4, 246 lbs, 4.64 40, 21 reps, 6.97 cone, 4.34 shuttle, 37.5 vert, 133 broad #4 - Everett, 6-3, 239 lbs, 4.62 40, 22 reps, 6.99 cone, 4.33 shuttle, 37.5 vert, 125 broad #5 - Shaheen, 6-6, 278 lbs, 4.79 40, 24 reps, 7.09 cone, 4.38 shuttle, 32.5 vert, 121 broad So Shaheen ran slightly slower (but has 30-40 lbs on the others), had the most bp reps, had a comparable 3-cone and shuttle. His vertical was better than Howard's and his broad was the same. I stand corrected. This was actually a decent pick, and if he can perform near his athletic capability, Trubisky is going to have a huge RZ target.
  4. I would love someone like Antonio Garcia from Troy (OT), or one of the top WR's remaining. If Gonzalez is still on the board with our 2nd 4th rounder, go for it, draft Gonzalez and fill a need. He would easily be an upgrade over Barth.

    WTF

Check out this game winning drive for Trubisky:
  6. Combine the picks trade down. That is what Pace seems best at.

    Trade Value Chart

If you use the same chart for our trade back with Arizona, we win that trade as well and gain the equivalent of Pick 139. What makes me sick is the 49ers just flipped our 3rd for a 2nd next year. So for doing absolutely nothing, they now have an extra 2nd and 3rd next year.
  8. That was a good spot for Quincy Wilson or Obi Melifonwu, wtf. There is no way Shaheen was the best player on their board. So we have now overpaid for Glennon and drafted Trubisky, and overpaid for Sims and drafted Shaheen? What is Pace thinking? I don't mind drafting him, but how does this improve our team over Miller and Sims? The 2nd round no less. That is supposed to be a starter.
  9. Trust me, I am confused. I am just saying this has become a polar opposite draft. Either Pace and the Bears look brilliant and Lynch is ripped for passing on Trubisky, or Trubisky becomes a bust, Pace is fired, and Lynch looks like a genius for fleecing us for literally nothing.
  10. This guy built a new trade value chart based on the 124 trades after the last CBA, which seems more accurate than the older chart. http://www.patspulpit.com/2017/4/23/153981...-chart#comments If you use this chart, the #3 pick is worth 514 pts and the #2 pick is worth 717 pts. Our 3rd rounder is worth 75 pts and our 4th rounder is worth 28. So if you give them the same value for 3rd round picks (75+75) for this year and next year, the 4th and #3, the total is 692. So surprisingly, we actually win this trade, and it is close enough to being a wash. The question becomes, was it necessary? The next team that would seem to need a QB was NYJ, and if they tried to move up to #2, it would basically cost their entire draft (at least (1st-5th). Then if you look at teams like KC and HOU who made trades to draft QB's, if they wanted to move to #2, it would cost at least their next two drafts (every pick). So in order for SF to get the player they wanted, there was no way to move down very far (for Solomon). So the Bears did not have to trade up to get Trubisky because there would not be a realistic alternative to the Bears offer. Houston's trade made sense, they have a top 5 defense, and made the playoffs, so they were a QB away from going further in the playoffs. I don't think the Bears were in a position to give up picks with so many holes to fill, but we will see. I like Trubisky, but not what we gave up to get him.
  11. Well the only saving grace is if this actually makes us worse, our first and second rounders will be better next year (lol).
  12. This is far from Pace's MO. It is also counter to everything he has said in the media about taking BPA, his comments about Glennon, etc. I still can't get over the fact that we moved up one slot. I would've understood if we moved to #1 to leapfrog SF who may have been considering Trubisky, but we essentially leapfrogged ourselves. If CLE or SF felt so highly of him or any other QB, they wouldn't make the trade. So if other teams were in play, they would need to give up much more than us to move up (which would be unrealistic based on the value of the picks). If you look at the draft value chart, for teams like KC and HOU, they would've had to basically give up their next two drafts to move to #2. I don't mind the pick, but there was no need to trade up one slot to pick him. Looking back at the Glennon or the Sims deals, and now this. It looks like Pace is overpaying which you can only get away with so much due to the cap and the limited number of draft picks. Also, this is almost reverse to how you build a team. You need a good core in place before bringing in the franchise QB so you maximize the years of the rookie deal (see Seattle). Going the other way, QB first, has proven not to work, see Carr in Houston, Cleveland, etc. They had crappy teams, went QB instead of filling out their core, and never went anywhere because the QB got killed.

    WTF

Did Seattle trade up one pick and lose 3 picks to draft Wilson?
  14. Who plays QB for those teams? Remember both of those teams passed on Trubisky, Watson, and Mahomes. So we will see what strategy works. Cleveland deserves zero credit, when you have multiple firsts and second every year and continually draft in the top 5, eventually you will get it right. SF had zero risk in that move, literally a no-brainer.
  15. He also said he was going BPA and had 3 player's names ready at #3, so I would take what he says with a grain of salt at this point. We just need to win.

    2nd ROUND....

Yeah, one move back in the 2nd and we can reacquire a 3rd, making the impact of the Trubisky trade a lot less. We already had two 4th's, so I had no issues using one of those.
  17. adam

    2nd ROUND....

I don't think it is a need. Sure we would like more picks but it is not like our recent 3rd and 4th rounders have been critical. As some others have pointed out, take a look at our 3rd and 4th rounders: 3rd - Bullard, Grasu 4th - Kwiatkoski, Bush, Hall, Langford

    WTF

At the end of the day, I would rather go all-in and be aggressive, than sit back and hope. Hope is not a method.
  19. Yeah, the move makes it a complete boom or bust. If we just drafted him at #3, it would seem less polarizing. Now, with a move and 3 draft picks lost, it has to work or Pace is gone. I am good with it, hopefully he lives up to the hype and becomes our franchise QB for the next 15 years.
  20. I think it was the shock of it and it was completely unexpected. I don't remember a single mock with us drafting Trubisky. So as the time passes and I see what others paid (multiple firsts) it is not as bad as it initially looked, but it has to work.
  21. adam

    WTF

Who knows, it is a done deal. I am done trying to figure out what could've happened. I need to get on the Trubisky bandwagon and pray he becomes a franchise QB, otherwise, we have a long road of losing ahead.
  22. adam

    WTF

There was a lot of discussions about teams moving up to take QBs. Once Cleveland took Garrett, it seems that the Bears received calls for teams looking to move up to take a QB. Pace must've believed that he had no choice but to swap picks with SF, which would give SF the best pick in this draft while gaining more picks. So SF gets the player they want (not a guarantee with teams like CLE, KC, or HOU) and additional picks from us. We get our guy and don't give up more than some 3rd's and a 4th. Comparatively, HOU and KC both gave up more (in terms of draft value) by giving up multiple 1st rounders.
  23. Go play the lottery, you nailed it.
