I have really soured on Glennon. I understand you are upset at how everything transpired, from the draft day invite, etc, however, he has had every chance as the "anointed" starter to "win" the job. All he had to do was be average and he couldn't do that. He has looked up and down in practice and at TC, and looked down right horrible in the preseason. Now that he is feeling the heat at the position, his attitude/personality is coming out. He has never been good at competitions, which is odd based on him playing a sport for a living, but he threatened to quit at NC State, got beat out by Winston in TB, and is now getting beat out by Trubisky here. Hindsight being better now. It seems that the Bears did not have the draft plan in place when they signed Glennon on March 10th, they met with Trubisky after that. I believe that is when they came up with the plan to draft him if Trubisky was not selected by CLE at #1. The Glennon deal, especially the money, indicated that the Bears had a starter and didn't need one in the 1st. This set the Bears up to take Trubisky and shock the world (they shocked me). Also, I don't envision the Bears thought Glennon would be this bad and for Trubisky to be this good/confident so early. My vote is for Trubisky, and if Glennon has a hissy fit, you trade him and retain a bunch of salary for this year. You go with Trubsiky/Sanchez/Shaw.

I don't understand how working with the 2nd and 3rd team and standing on the sidelines is better than 1st team reps and playing on Sundays. I also don't know of a metric that measures QB readiness, if there is one, I would love to see it [Place in oven for one year or until completely cooked, then remove Franchise QB from oven]. You can make a case for any position in this situation and be right. Trubisky can hang on the bench for a year and still suck, or he can start Game 1, struggle, and never improve. I don't think there is any magic formula out there. I believe our running game and offensive line are built to support a young QB. He is not going to get wrecked on every play and should be able to learn on the fly as he builds a rapport with his receivers. It is not like Glennon has much on him there. It is hard to build that when you can't hit them. Another benefit to starting him early is you will know sooner than later if he is legit, and not spend years hoping. You can move on to the next one. If he sits and ends up struggling anyway, we wasted a few years for no reason.

I could see him going on IR.

The key for me is continually increasing the number of drafted players on the 53-man. That also makes the cap much easier to manage with a good chunk of guys on entry level deals.

I'm fine with it if he is rated in the top 16 LT's in the league (top half). If he is below average, then there is no point in signing a subpar guy to a 4 year deal. I hope he earns his pay and lives up to his potential. If he does and we can improve at RT, we will have a top 5 line.

Interesting seeing how each of the QB's are looking so far: Mahomes 17-23, 73.9%, 137 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT, 1 Sack, 128.1 QB Rating Kizer 11-18, 61.1%, 184 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT, 3 Sacks, 114.1 QB Rating Trubisky 24-33, 72.7%, 226 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 1 Sack, 111.4 QB Rating Watson 18-35, 51.4%, 281 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT, 3 Sacks, 78.4 QB Rating Obviously the numbers alone don't tell the whole story, otherwise Cooper Rush, QB from DAL would be the league MVP right now. However, after watching some of these games, I would say that Trubisky seems the most consistent and calm, Mahomes has made some pretty high difficulty throws, Kizer has shown flashes (boom or bust), and Watson's best attributes are his legs. An interesting observation, none have thrown an INT yet.

Glennon will be serviceable at best and I assume he gets the start for the first few games. He has familiarity with Atlanta coming from TB, so that should help for Game 1. I see several red flags with Glennon that he needs to fix: 1. Most of his throws are initial reads or his first option. On his INT, he locked onto that WR the entire time making it easy for a defender to jump the route 2. He has a tendency to double clutch or tap the ball, which makes his throws late or behind the receivers, watch his incompletions 3. With his height, the play action, is very mechanical and slow...same for the bootleg rollout 4. I don't know if he has thrown a completion past 10 yards in the air (even though some have gone longer with RAC), which is concerning for the running game 5. Confidence...or lack thereof, I can't imagine Glennon himself, or the rest of the team is really confident when he is out there (speculation), because I know I am not I hope he improves with more time in the offense.

Bears leave Glennon in and he leads them on a short drive that leads to his first TD pass to Kendall Wright. Even with that TD, all of his completions have been very basic and short. The defense has been borderline dominant, a ton of pressure, and stuffing the run.

Wow, Cut...um I mean Glennon, rolls out and throws into triple coverage and somehow it is not intercepted and returned for a pick 6. Then on the next play he doesn't let the screen develop and throws it to Carey who is covered. I hope that's the last we see of Glennon, I've seen enough. He is the worst parts of Cutler and Hoyer but less mobile.

LeBlanc gets robbed on a fumble/interception that was returned for a TD. They ruled down by contact but the WR never had full control.

There is no way Glennon is starting a real game for this team. Another interception, in the Red Zone (from the 11). He is absolutely brutal.

First score of the game on 2nd drive (a FG by Barth) , all Cohen so far who looks amazing. Glennon with all short passes, 4-5 for 10 yards and his incompletion was thrown right at a defender for a near interception. After two drives against Cards #1 offense, the defense has been solid forcing two punts. Some nice pressure from the front 7.

You listed 8. Carey was drafted by Emery. Houston and Young were signed by Emery. Boggs was from Emery, left and came back. Miller was a Pace acquisition.

I also think the combo of Howard-Carey-Cohen-Cunningham provide the biggest diversity as a group that we have had in a long time. All have very unique strengths.

Wow, all Miami QB's looked like crap. Cutler had 2 decent throws, but looked exactly the same. Never seems comfortable in the pocket, throwing off back foot, and threw one into double coverage. He went 3-6 for 24 yards. I didn't know Miami has Fales on the roster. He looked bad and so did Matt Moore. Senorise Perry is on Miami as well, scored a TD and looked good on special teams. Miami, in general, looked terrible. Tyrod Taylor was horrible for BUF.

I wouldn't say that completely, Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, and Forte were potentially one of the top 5 skill position groups in the NFL. I am still a fan of Cutler's and hope he does well and ends his career on a high note. The organizational turnover killed any chance at consistency. They should've hired Gase as the HC instead of Fox. The Bears went into a tailspin after letting Angelo and Lovie go. Cutler then went thru the abortion of Emery/Trestman, and then the Pace/Fox team. So he survived 3 different staffs and even more Offensive Coordinators. I am just amazed at how the media is reacting to his return. The same haters, who ragged on him constantly when he was on the Bears are now praising him. So it seems that the national media has a bias against Chicago in general, especially the Bears. We win a trade by moving up to grab Trubisky (we had a better return in the trade value chart), HOU, and KC give away 2x first rounders to move up, but we overpaid?

Looks like Cutler is starting tonight against the Ravens. It will be interesting to see his performance.

Langford is an easy cut candidate. With the emergence of Howard, he seems like the odd man out. I am sure there are a few needy RB teams that would take a flyer for him. I would say WR is going to be another interesting battle. Meredith, White, Wright, Cruz, Wheaton, Gentry, Bellamy?

They can't help that they signed Glennon before drafting Trubisky. I almost wish the draft was before the FA period. At the time of the Glennon signing, I don't know how confident they were in their "draft day" plan. So if Trubisky fell through, then they would have Glennon to fall back on and hope he would improve from his days at TB. I see this similar to SEA and Wilson, and Prescott in DAL. Both were rookies on teams where they had veterans and were not expected to start year one. SEA is probably more similar as they signed Flynn to be their starting QB. He played bad and Wilson played great and never looked back. I see our situation as very similar. Where Prescott's situation is similar is in the game plan. We need to build on a basic game plan and expand as fast as Trubisky, Shaheen, and Cohen can handle. I don't think this is a David Carr situation where HOU had no offensive line and the dude was getting sacked before he received the ball from the center. We have a very good O-Line and have a variety of weapons. I think you give Glennon another shot in Preseason Game #2, but if he has another poor game, you have to look at giving Trubisky the nod for Week #3 and have him start the opener.

The problem with Glennon is that he looks worse than Trubisky overall. Whether they are in individual drills, 7 v 7, 11 v 11, scrimmage, or preseason game. Glennon doesn't seem as comfortable in the pocket and when Trubisky came into the game, everyone, including the sideline had a jump in their step. Now with all this media attention, I can't imagine Glennon getting better if he is feeling the pressure.

Long has been a huge disappointment since getting paid, I hope we don't regret that contract. Injuries and now this?

We are now worrying about less than 500k with over 20mil in cap space when we are still technically under the floor? Teams have to spend over 89% of the cap over a three year period, so to keep things easier to manage, you probably don't want to drop too much under the floor in any given year since you can't go over. With that said, the Bears are about $1,820,000 from the floor AFTER Aguayo, so no issue here. I have more of an issue with $2mil in dead money for Cutler, or 600k for Gould.

I believe Aguayo was the most accurate kicker in NCAA history. He missed only 9 kicks (zero XP) in three years at FSU (198/198 for XP and 69/78 for FG) which is crazy accurate. Then he goes to TB and misses 11 kicks total out of 65 kicks? There is no way you can fall off the cliff that fast. There has to be something else to it (holder, long snapper, shoes, injury, mental). To me, this is a zero risk move with some very high potential to improve our kicking game. Also consider kickoffs, even with how bad Aguayo has been on FGs, he still had a better touchback percentage than Barth last year by a mile (65% to 40%), so that is something else to consider.
