  1. What is crazy is Elliott is getting all the press for best rookie RB and right now Howard is just as good as Elliott, and Elliott is running behind 5 Pro Bowlers. Elliott - 109-546, 5.0, 5 TDs, 9-81 Rec. Howard - 51-296, 5.8, 0 TDs, 12-122, 1 TD Rec
  2. The draft will come down to where we pick. If we are top 5, and we can move up and get a QB, we need to do it. If we are outside of the top 5, I would shore up the defense and get an OT. If we re-sign Alshon, our WR Corps is fine, RBs look good, and we can keep Hoyer (if he continues to play like this) making the only holes on offense OT and TE. On defense, we still need help with the pass rush and in the secondary.
  3. Robbie missed a 36 and 40 yarder and we lost by 6 (after going into OT). He missed the 36 yarder at the end of regulation. The kicker doesn't lose the game by himself, but Robbie had a lot more to do with that loss than Barth did in this game. In comparison, Barth missed a 54 yarder and 49 yarder after the penalty. Kicks that long are a crapshoot, but the 31 yarder he missed against Philly was unacceptable. I would cut him if he misses anything less than 40.

    3-4 vs 4-3

So I know this is basically semantics nowadays and we are in sub-packages that take this away 60% of the time, but do you think we have the personnel to play the 3-4 more effectively than the 4-3? I can't tell if it is scheme, personnel, or the injuries, but we never have a consistent pass rush. Yeah we have had a few sacks, but it seems like we rarely have pressure outside of those plays that look more like coverage sacks. What do you think? Stick with Fangio and the 3-4 next year, or go back to a traditional set?
  5. Yeah, they mentioned he was a QB, which is interesting because I would think that would help knowing what the QB is thinking. Another thing I thought about is Hoyer got a lot more reps with Meredith on the 2nd team than Cutler did, so I assume that is why he is more comfortable with him than Jeffery at this point. If Royal and Jeffery can stay healthy, we have a pretty solid offense with Hoyer, Howard, and Miller if Meredith can keep this going. We just need a lot of help on defense.
  6. Oh no, don't get me wrong, he has potential. He showed some flashes last year too. If he can hold onto the ball, he can be a legit #2. I agree, he looks better than Wilson and White TBH.
  7. Rookie? This is his 2nd year, he was a UDFA in 2015.
  8. There is a lot of blame to go around. Barth is not the answer, there has to be a better kicker on the street. Penalties, Meredith fumble (after a career game), defense like swiss cheese, etc.
  9. Brutal way to lose, the Meredith fumble cost us 3, and Barth cost us 3. We would've been in FG position for the win there, instead turnover on downs. I don't know why they are not just throwing the ball to Alshon there. If we can't beat Indy (after they played in England last week), then we are going to be lucky to win 3-4 games total. Gonna be a long season. The sad part is Cleveland is even worse and will more than likely go 0-16. Thank God hockey starts in a few days. I will have to check but I believe Hoyer just had a better stretch of games than Cutler has in his entire career (small sample size), 3 straight 300-yard games with over 1,000 yards, 6 TD's and 0 INTs. I know he is 31 but if he can be near that level, why not go with him for a few years as we look to groom a rookie? He would come cheap and allow us to load up in other places. He is young enough to have 4-5 good years left.
  10. Yeah, Barth has been brutal, if we lose by 3 or less, the game is on him. Now we need a TD drive to close this out.
  11. Anyone miss Forte now? Langford looks like a good change of pace back now. Howard is legit.
  12. Seriously, Hoyer, Meredith, and Howard? On Fire!
  13. Back to back weeks with 300 yard passer, 100 yard rusher and 100 yard receiver. Wow!
  14. Why even have a returner, just fair catch the damn thing? WTF.
  15. I think our offense looks pretty good. Hoyer, Howard, and Meredith have been consistent, the O-Line has been decent and if we can close out some drives with TD's we will be in good shape.
  16. Covering Hilton would help too though, so it is not all on the lack of pass rush.
  17. Hoyer 13-16, 142 yards, 1 TD, 124.5 QB Rating, I really don't know what else he can do. Howard is 8-79 with a 57 yarder. Alshon has 1 reception and 1 target.
  18. Our defense is brutal, I can't believe we have basically revamped the entire unit and it is still bad. Callahan is one of the only bright spots, otherwise, we have zero pass rush and for some reason our DB's are not covering anyone.
  19. Wow, great series for Howard, Hoyer and Meredith. That was a sweet TD throw. Great to see a TD and overcome the penalties.
  20. Go Bears? I hate these kind of seasons, I don't see us doing anything realistic but also hate to see us lose. We have winnable games the next two weeks, and could go into GB at 3-3. The injury report is hilarious (in a bad way): http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/chi/injuries I think we need some better/new strength and conditioning coaches and need to change our offseason regime. Too many injuries year in and year out to be chance. I would like to see Howard continue to play well and some of the other young players step up and make plays with the opportunities they have. My guess is if Hoyer plays well and we win, that he will continue to be the starting QB (and they will hopefully look to unload Cutler before the deadline for anything). Freeman has been a bright spot on the defense and hopefully everyone rises to his level of play against his old team. Bears 20-13
  21. I'm no doctor but if the tibia is stronger with the rod in it the next bone to go is going to be the supporting fibula. Also, I assume there is somewhat less flexibility and RoM with a rod in so that would put more pressure on the other bone, similar to the ulna and radius in the arm. To me this injury was probably the biggest risk after that type of surgery. Either way it sucks because that leg is always going to be more susceptible to injury. Next will be an ankle or knee injury in the same leg.
  22. If that is the case, he will never be the same.
  23. Seriously, dude is a bust, a break after a rod in your shin? This dude need some vitamin D.
  24. Is it the same leg? If so, this will be a reoccurring thing. Sucks because he has so much potential.
