  1. Current 53-man Roster: QB - Williams, Bagent RB - Swift, Herbert, Johnson, Homer, Blasingame TE - Kmet, Everett, Lewis WR - Moore, Allen, Odunze, Scott, Jones Jr, Carter OL - Jones, Wright, Shelton, Jenkins, Davis, Murray, Bates, Pryor, Amegadjie, Kramer DL - Sweat, Taylor, Walker, Hardy, Booker, Dexter, Billings, Williams, Pickens, Robinson LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sanborn, Sewell, Ogbongbemiga CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Smith, Jones, Blackwell S - Brisker, Byard, Hicks, Owens ST - Santos, Taylor, (Daly - will be elevated from PS on Week 1) Blasingame was added in place of Scales, so I assume Kramer (to PS), Bates (injury), or Pickens (injury) will have to be dropped off the 53-man to elevate Daly. 16-player practice squad: QB Austin Reed TE Stephen Carlson WR Collin Johnson WR Samori Toure (GB, 7th Round) OL Theo Benedet OL Jake Curhan OL Chris Glase (NYJ, UDFA) DL Sam Roberts (NE, 6th Round) DL Byron Cowart DL Jamree Kromah LB Micah Baskerville LB Carl Jones Jr. DB Reddy Steward DB Tarvarius Moore DB Ro Torrence LS Scott Daly (DET, UDFA)

    Hello

Welcome to the board! I agree, there has been so much pain, but CW has the best shot to turn this around. Very few rookie QBs have come into a better situation, and very QBs have the pedigree coming in like Caleb has. I don't know if those two have ever happened in the same year like this year. Also, every team that ended the preseason with a +60 point differential has made the playoffs. So we have to keep that going too.
  3. Stinger, Keepers need to be locked in by tomorrow, at the latest (I have to lock them in the day before the draft). So if your guys have any keepers, please let me know in here or have them lock them in, in the app.
  4. OK no problem. It looks like they all paid, only PapaBear is left.

    Practice Squad

With 16 slots, it will be interesting to see how many outside players they sign. The Bears didn't claim anyone on the waiver wire, so all the external signings will technically be free agents.

    Final cuts

Looks like they didn't pickup anyone outside of adding a LS to replace Scales until he is back after surgery. Bates did get picked up by the Jets. Interesting choice for Poles to keep a 40yr old TE over Bates. I know it's probably only 10 to 15 snaps but Bates also played ST, as far as I am tracking, Lewis does not.
  7. This one surprises me because I thought he was a lock. I guess with the Borom injury they need someone who can play OT as well, that seems to be Bill Murray.
  8. Ugh on Wheeler. Tough to come back from an ACL and fight for a roster spot next year.
  9. Yeah he definitely goes to celebrate, then realizes it's a live play, then goes to block. Super funny.
  10. I saw the replay of the play and to me, it seems like he was running out to celebrate the INT because it looked like the defender who caught it was down. So he thinks they are running to the end zone to celebrate, and then he realizes it's a live play. If you look at it again, he runs straight to the ball carrier, not ahead to block.
  11. and I will still need Keepers by the 30th if you have any
  12. No worries, it is moved to the 1st. I am good with the 1st, with you 3 and I know Brad said he was good, so that is 5.
  13. Exactly, and Jenkins needs to stay healthy if he wants an extension. So it looks like it will be 2-3 players left on the Bears roster for draft picks from 21 and older.

    Trade for DT

2 years or 1 year? Flus last coached in IND in 2021, and Williams was there in 21 and 22, so I think it was only one year of overlap. PFF had him grading out pretty solid in the preseason so far (FWIW). An overall grade of 80.1 and PRush of 81.6. To put that into perspective, he would be 7th on the Bears overall defensive score, just ahead of Booker, Sanborn, and Owens. His PRush grade would be 2nd on the team. This one feels more like a "jump the waiver wire priority" kind of move compared to the Taylor trade.
  15. Almost typical for a new regime once you get past the rookie deals. Looking back on the Bears roster, the Bears have 3 players that should be on the team next year from 2017-2021 with Jenkins as the only real player to have a shot at returning from the 2021 class. 2021 - Jenkins, Borom, and Herbert 2020 - Kmet and Johnson 2019 - NONE 2018 - NONE 2017 - NONE
  16. We just went full circle with the Claypool trade: 2nd Round Pick for Claypool > Claypool for a 2025 6th Rounder > A 2025 6th Rounder for Darrell Taylor (who was a 2nd Round Pick)
  17. Change is made, we now draft on Sep 1st with keepers in by the 30th. To move the draft again, we would need 3x GMs to have issues with the 1st.
  18. Yeah I we have a window of time, you are the first to post about a conflict. I will make the change to September 1st unless there are other people with conflicts on that date. It is always tough because it seems like there is a conflict on every day, but since there are 2x GMs with issues on the 3rd, I will move it to the 1st, which means we will need Keepers set by the 30th.
  19. Yeah, I thought that was funny too. If they didn't draft Mahomes, KC has zero Super Bowls in the last few years.
  20. and the Bears had 3x 6th rounders, so they still have 2 left.
  21. Bears in the top 5 of the NFL in the Preseason: NFL Highest Passing Grade: 1. Bagent 88.8 3. Rypien 86.9 NFL Rushing Yards: 1. Jones - 158 Yards NFL Receiving Grades: 3. Bates - 85.8 NFL Pass Blocking Rate: 1. Murray - 90.4 NFL Sacks: 1. Hardy - 4 2T. Booker - 3 NFL Net Punting: 4. Taylor - 44.8
  22. Darrell Taylor. Has 21.5 sacks in the last 3 years, and 15 over the last 2. Feels like a poor man's Ngakoue. $3.1M cap hit. Low risk. 6th rounders rarely make an NFL roster, so I really don't care too much about 6th and 7th rounders if you can get guys who make the 53-man roster for them. Taylor looks like one of them.
  23. The Lions actually had their starters playing against 3rd and 4th stringers that year.
  24. After the last preseason game, I change my prediction to Bears 33-10.
  25. This is a glorious day to be a Bears fan. They defeated the SB champs handily, very close to an ass whooping, and they did it starting almost all players 3rd round or later while KC was running former 1st and 2nd rounders out there. The Bears end the preseason with a +68 points differential in 3.5 games. That is crazy. They scored 20+ pts and 3 TDs in every game. The defense has multiple TDs in less than 4 games. This would not matter if the Bears had weak starters, but both units look like they are top 10-15. With all the positives, there are still some concerns. I don't think Pass Rush or O-Line are the top issues anymore. They need another rotational DT and they need to solve the kickoff coverage and punt returns. Either way, a great way to start this season. A lot of good vibes going into Week 1 at home against the Titans.
