  1. Hicks was a great addition by Pace. He definitely brings a much needed attitude back to the defense.

    Oline Changes

Good to see them cleaning up the roster at every opportunity. Quality depth is important.
  3. I should be posting during the game, and I agree, I really enjoy our little community that we have here.
  4. AZ, you are correct that the game and outcome are meaningless, but I didn't see any really strong individual efforts outside of Washington really. You are right about Hall, but he was making plays and was at least in the correct spot to make them. He may have been a little reactive (thus the step slow), but otherwise, I thought he looked good in his first live action. The only thing I can think of is that the team in general is being very close guarded on schemes, etc, to not tip their hand. I can just see that being something Fox does. I expect a better overall effort next week.
  5. Yeah, in a way, playing bad will actually make them get better (quicker) because they won't have a false sense of accomplishment. Hopefully everyone gets motivated and pushes harder to improve. Also, they will have a lot of tape to use as teaching points (what not to do). So hopefully we will see a marked improvement going forward.
  6. Did we watch the same game? That was one of the worst showings I have seen in a long time. Yes it was only the first preseason game, but I didn't expect the team to look that bad, and for the entire game, at home no less. It was the first time the Bears have been shut out in preseason since Aug. 15, 1981!!!!!! The only players that stood out were: Washington (who got hurt), Hall and Floyd (who actually busted thru a double team on one play and had a couple of pressures) The only player on offense that stood out even in the least bit was Thompson (and that was on one play). Due to his special teams play, he is going to be a roster lock. I am assuming Royal's cap hit will prevent him from being cut but he was so bad I don't even know if he played. Now for the other bad, the O-Line was horrible, none of the QB's had time and any longer developing play resulted in a sack. There were very few holes and RB's were constantly getting hit behind the LOS, it was hard to evaluate their performance. I don't know why they tried Whitehair at Center (instead of letting him learn LG) because he was brutal at center. Braverman was bad all around and I don't know if he will survive the next wave of cuts, Bellamy made a few catches and I assume will be ahead of Braverman on the depth chart again. TE's were non-existent. FB's were bad. Front-7 generated some pressure, but Denver was able to dink and dunk all over us. The secondary (Callahan really) gave up the TD to Thomas, but overall the secondary was decent (Fuller was at least not bad). How about special teams, Prosinski blocked a FG but we had a punt blocked and returned for a TD, and our punt coverage was horrible. That needs to be fixed. Either megapunt needs to start punting 65 yarders like he capable of or he needs to start angling 40 yarders out of bounds, because these 50 yarders that are returned for 15 don't help much. In the end the score was: Denver offense: 13 Denver Special Teams: 7 Denver defense: 2 Bears entire organization: 0
  7. Cornelius Washington with a huge game, in on almost every play, has been one of the few bright spots. If he continues this type of play, it will be hard to see him not making it onto the 53-man roster.
  8. Floyd is showing flashes, but seems to get held on almost every play.
  9. Offense has not looked good tonight. They say not to put too much stock into the first preseason game, but I would've like to have seen at least one long drive.
  10. Cornelius Washington with a great stop on first, DLine pressure on 2nd and 3rd force a punt. Floyd breaks thru a double team off the left side to get pressure.
  11. Offense still a work in progress, Cutler sacked on 3rd down on back to back drives.
  12. Callahan redeems himself with a defended pass that gets intercepted by Freeman. Trevathan also with a huge hit on the drive as well.
  13. Pass to Alshon for 1st Down, short pass to White, Langford run, then Cutler sacked on 3rd and short.
  14. Defense with some ok pressure on first drive, but Callahan gets burned deep on 3rd and long for a TD with no over the top support.
  15. Who are you most excited to see? For me it is White and the revamped defense.
  16. They have some tough decision in regards to RB/FB/TE. You didn't list the FB's but they have Lasike as #1, and Young as #2. For WR's, you completely missed the 3rd string column and Thompson/Bellamy. Thompson is almost a solid lock due to returner duties. WR will probably end up being Jeffery/White/Royal/Mariani/Thompson/Bellamy/Braverman. Our front-7 looks strong. LB Corps is ridiculous. Some hard cuts coming there. How many LB's can we keep? 8? That would be McPhee, Freeman, Trevathan, Young, Houston, Floyd and 2 of Anderson/Timu/Acho/Kwiatkoski/Jones. Our secondary is crazy too.
  17. Daniel Jeremiah named the Bears the most underrated team: http://beargoggleson.com/2016/08/08/nfl-ne...nderrated-team/
  18. If we keep a FB, I believe it would be in place of a TE. It would be interesting to see how our running game would look with a full time FB plowing holes for the RBs. He is a TD machine, in his career he has 13 TDs on 96 touches.
  19. Looks like he passed his physical, and with the loss of Grasu, we really need quality depth now.
  20. Man, the national media is ridiculous. Over the past few weeks, I have heard multiple media outlets questioning Langford and the Bears rushing attack RBBC. However, I heard today (on Sirius) them talking about how Matt Jones is going to have a breakout year. That got me thinking of the comparisons between the Bears and Redskins, they both lost their veteran RB's and replaced them with younger backs both drafted in 2015. Interestingly enough, Jones was selected 11 picks before Langford. Here is their production from last year: Matt Jones 144-490, 3.4, 3 TD, 19 REC, 304 YDS, 1 TD, 4 FB Jeremy Langford 148-537, 3.6, 6 TD, 22 REC, 279 YDS, 1 TD, 0 FB Actually, they are pretty close with Langford having more rushing yards and TD's while Jones has the edge in receiving yards. The biggest difference is fumbles, where Jones lost 4 and Langford didn't even have a single fumble (Jones had 5 but lost 4). So from ESPN, to CNNSI, to PFF, to NFL Network, please tell me how Matt Jones is going to breakout, yet Langford is going to struggle (and the Bears will miss Forte)?
  21. Marshall is truly bipolar. When he is on most interviews, he actually seems down to earth and friendly. Then he turns into this other person...pretty creepy.
  22. To me Martellus was reinforcing his brother's statement. From reviewing games from the last few years, a bunch of INTs were thrown in Bennett's direction. How is Bennett going to take being the #2 TE and at least a 1/3 less targets? I just didn't like the comments in general. If they wanted to give an honest assessment as him as a player, go for it, but a comment like that is just smug. Those guys would be nothing if not for their physical attributes.
  23. Tough loss, especially with the Slauson release. What about Louis Vasquez, former Bronco, current FA?
  24. So the Bennett brothers rip Cutler and Marshall says he thinks Jay could win the MVP? What a crazy day. I can tell you I lost all respect for the Bennett's after this interview. I hope they both tear ACL's. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1720163...ett-vs-everyone http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chica...0803-story.html
