  1. Stinger, Looking at the needs, it looks like we will pick WR, OL, S, ILB, CB, and DL with our 6 picks (not necessarily in that order). To me I think that would be a great draft addressing every layer of the defense and the 2 biggest weaknesses on the offense. Based on who we project to be there at #7, I am starting to think it is going to be White/Cooper/Scherff/Peat at #7. If we trade down, then CB, S, and DL come into play.
  2. Has anyone seen Game Changers on NFL Network (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-changers). They did the QB prospects again this morning. I was impressed with Winston, Hundley, and Petty, and I was not as impressed with Mariota or Mannion. Mannion seems to have a weird drop back or at least it looks like it takes him longer to get set (which would be bad in the NFL), but he throws a nice ball. Mariota didn't have any confidence and I can't see him taking charge of a huddle. I will have to watch some more film on these guys but at this point I would not be against Hundley or Petty, but not until the 3rd. We have too many other needs to take one in the 1st or 2nd.
  3. With the 37th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select Eli Harold, OLB, Virginia.
  4. We will give him another few minutes or so and then we will auto-pick for the Jets.
  5. Preseason Aug. 13-17: #Bears vs #Dolphins Aug. 20-24: Bears at #Colts Aug. 27-30: Bears at #Bengals Sept. 3-4: Bears vs #Browns
  6. I would love for him to fall to us and then Cleveland gets stupid and gives up 12 and 19 to get him (but that would be crazy).
  7. The fact that we got some of those guys on 1 year league minimum deals makes this a great offseason. Completely low risk high reward. If not for the allegations, McDonald is a top 5 DL FA, and we got him for peanuts. McPhee was very effective and is a huge upgrade worthy of the price tag. Rolle is older but brings a ton of experience and leadership to the team. He is not a long term solution and should only be seen as a stop gap for a year or two. Jenkins brings 3-4 experience to the DLine. Acho is 3 years younger than Skuta (which some people were interested in) and graded out better. Foster was great in TB pre-Lovie, and was not used properly last year and struggled. He is a steal for what we paid. So the DLine got McDonald/Jenkins, LBs got McPhee, Acho, and Foster, and the secondary got Rolle and Ball. I could easily see guys like McDonald, Acho, Foster, and Ball all staying longer than their one-year deals. Regardless, we got better (and younger) on defense and should add a few additional impact players via the draft. On offense, Royal fills a huge need and gives us a true slot receiver, something we have lacked for a long time (and lessens the loss of Marshall). Rodgers gives us another veteran option and true 3rd down back. Montgomery is 4 years younger than Garza and will have offensive familiarity with Gase. So if we address WR and possibly OLine in the draft, we should clearly be better on offense in 2015.
  8. Yeah, if anything, we will add picks and move down. Moving up is the least likely option at this point.
  9. With the 26th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State. The Dallas Cowboys (ASHKUM BEAR) are now on the clock....
  10. With the 24th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia The Carolina Panthers (Stinger226) are now on the clock....
  11. I would lean toward defense because everyone of those players would contribute. How about if those drafts had a mock draft baby: 1 - Amari Cooper, WR, Bama 2 - Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon 3 - Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon 4 - Derron Smith, S, Fresno State 5 - Joey Mbu, NT, Houston 6 - Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M
  12. The 2nd one is horrible, Ray at #7? An RB in the 3rd?
  13. With the 22nd pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Marcus Peters, CB, Washington. The Detroit Lions (scs787) are now on the clock.....
  14. Petty has the most question marks coming out of Baylor's offense, and Mariota has the second most. He rarely called plays, commanded a huddle, or went through progressions/pre-snap reads, etc. I think he has all the other intangibles you want in a QB, but I would not want him with the expectation that he has to play from Day 1. For us, if we were interested, the only way I would select him is if he fell to us at #7. That would mean Winston, Williams, Beasley, Fowler, White, and Cooper are off the board. We would have to choose between him, Shelton, Collins, Scherff, Waynes, or one of the other Edge Rushers. Then it at least warrants a discussion. My hope would be a team even more desperate for a QB (hello Cleveland) wants to move up and gives up more than the trade value chart to get him (ie, 12 and 43 for 7).
  15. The Titans and Vanderbilt are both in Nashville (about 2.5 miles away from each other), so there is a pretty big following in that area for both teams. Not as big as Vandy baseball, but still popular. However, the consensus among fans is they don't want Cutler. Also, I am against moving up or trading for players when we lose picks. Look what Cutler turned into: 1st Round 2009 (18) - Could've been Alex Mack or Clay Matthews 1st Round 2010 (11) - Denver traded down to #13, picked up #113, traded down to #24, picked up 2x 3rd Rounders (Eric Decker, WR, #87), used #113 to move up to #22 (selected Demaryius Thomas). NE used #113 on Aaron Hernandez. NE traded #24 to Dallas (who selected Dez Bryant). NE moved to #27 and selected McCourty. 3rd Round 2009 (84) - Mike Wallace, WR So we could've had Clay Matthews, Dez Bryant, Aaron Hernandez, Eric Decker, and Mike Wallace and an extra 3rd Rounder. Those two years devoid of early picks is another reason why we have so few players on the team that were drafted by us.

This guy was spot on as were many others. I had mixed feelings and was honestly trying to figure out what the hell Emery was doing. This is how bad Emery was too, he telegraphed everything:
  17. With the 19th pick, the Cleveland Browns select La'el Collins, OT, LSU. Cleveland anchors both lines with instant starters. The Philadelphia Eagles (Stinger226) are now on the clock....
  18. I wouldn't want to even look at TE until the 5th. I would consider a flyer on someone like this in the 6th or as a UDFA: James O'Shaughnessy

I really hope he can live up to his contract, because having McPhee, Houston, and Young all sort of interchangeable throughout the front 7 would be interesting.

Yeah, at the time, Terrell was the consensus pick. GB selected Jamal Reynolds two picks after us (he played in 18 games total). The next two WRs (Koren Robinson and Rod Gardner). I think SMC should be on there due to the following players being drafted right after him: 20 - Kendall Wright (215 career receptions) - Jeffery/Wright/Royal 21 - Chandler Jones (150 tackles, 22 sacks) - Jones/McPhee 23 - Riley Reiff (32 starts) - Reiff vs Mills? 24 - David DeCastro (24 starts) DeCastro vs Mills? 25 - Donta Hightower (246 tackles, 11 sacks) Hightower vs Bostic? 26 - Whitney Mercilus (122 tackles, 18 sacks) Mercilus/McPhee 27 - Kevin Zeitler (39 starts) Zeitler vs Mills? 29 - Harrison Smith (255 tackles, 10 INTs) Smith vs anyone on Bears roster since Mike Brown 31 - Doug Martin (Pro Bowl) - luxury pick but Forte/Martin would be a pretty solid duo SMC (80 tackles, 7.5 sacks) - meh, ho hum, erectile dysfunction

Hard to argue with the needs, though with the loss of Marshall, I would say WR is now #1 or #2. I wonder which position would yield the biggest single upgrade from the #7 pick? Here is how I see it going into this draft: Tier 1 Needs (Replace voids) 1. WR (White/Cooper/Parker vs Wilson) - Wilson is a late round pick and can't be counted on as anything other than depth, I feel like he is too small/weak to be a #2. Needs to compliment Jeffery/Royal. 2. O-Line (Scherff/Collins/Peat vs Mills) - Mills was brutal last year and we can fill with Long sliding over or bringing in a new RT (who could slide to LT when Bushrod is gone). Tier 2 Needs (Replace aging vets or underperformers) 1. DE (Williams/Brown vs Jenkins/Sutton) - New scheme, Jenkins with only experience outside of McDonald. Just like O-Line, have to win in the trenches. 2. S (Collins vs Mundy/Vereen) - Rolle/Mundy are aging vets so we could use some youth here. Very thin on the roster, so we are drafting a Safety in 1st 3-4 rounds. 3. DT (Shelton vs Ferguson/Ratliff) - Ratliff has only a year or two left, and just like DE, need to win the battle at the line to take pressure off LBs and DBs. 4. CB (Waynes vs Jennings) - Jennings is on the downside of his career, need some shutdown capabilities on the outside. 5. OLB (Beasley/Fowler vs Allen/Houston/Young) - Old/injured, a lot of questions marks, even though it seems like we have a lot of in house options and added McPhee/Acho. 6. ILB (Kendricks/McKinney vs Bostic/Jones/Foster) - New scheme and Bostic looked lost at times. 7. RB (Gurley/Gordon vs Forte/Carey) - Forte nearing the end of his window, Carey still unproven. 8. QB (Winston/Mariota/Petty vs Cutler) - This could go from here to #1 depending on how staff views Cutler. 9. TE (Williams vs Bennett) - Bennett has a few more solid years in him.
  22. Pretty funny that no one hears about the auction until after no one bids on his football. I would've for $100, especially with it going to charity.
  23. He could fall to us at 39, but like you said, is probably a trade down candidate.
