Bears 2017 Schedule
I don't know how much the draft changed my opinion until I see how many of these players make an impact this year.
-
Jordan Morgan, OL, Kutztown D-II
and our picks actually helped others get better players at lower picks. If you look at our original picks and do a little revisionist draft, it is hard to see how this was the best draft outcome.

Jordan Morgan, OL, Kutztown D-II
and counter to his first two drafts, either Pace is a genius and everyone else is wrong, or he is no longer the GM in 2018. Based on the skill added to CLE, SF, and JAX, we are probably the worst team on paper right now. That doesn't mean anything until September but man it is tough right now.

Jordan Morgan, OL, Kutztown D-II
I am OK with it, but with the info on these players today, it is hard to outsmart others. Looks like a boom or bust draft. Swinging for the fences. Might as well, it's not like we can get much worse.

Jordan Morgan, OL, Kutztown D-II
With the No. 147 pick, the #Bears draft OL Jordan Morgan from D-II Kutztown. They coached him at the Senior Bowl. Draft trend, mainly small schools and sleeper picks. We will see how it works out.. It really feels like Pace tried to outsmart everyone else with some questionable trades and sleeper picks. We will see how these all turn out. Not what I expected.
- Tarik Cohen, RB at #119

We have the 10th & 13th pick in round 4
We got Eddie Jackson, but gave up our 6th to get him. Now we only have two left.

Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama
Pick #112: Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama Our last pick is in the 5th round. We now only have two picks left.

Last Day of Draft Today
Yeah, I don't know why people are hating on Trubisky, it is not his fault that Pace traded up for him. He is the highest drafted QB since 1951 for the Bears (Bob Williams) and tied for the highest all-time with Williams and some guy named Sid Luckman.

Done, I am all in, Shaheen could be the steal of the draft and if Trubisky becomes our franchise QB, we will look back on this draft as the turning point for our franchise.

TE Adam Shaheen
I totally missed this guy. Comments from Gil Brandt: "I think Friday morning of draft week... there will be teams vying to get near the top of Round 2 to take this tight end." Also: Several NFL tight end coaches (Bears, Saints, Steelers, Raiders, Lions) were present for tight end Adam Shaheen at Ashland’s pro day. We have the 10th & 13th pick in round 4
Unless we also pick up a long snapper in the 5th.

What we hoped vs.what we know
At best we drafted our franchise QB for the next 15 years while only giving up some 3rd's and a 4th (which we got back later) and a huge RZ target who is going to give defenses some serious matchup problems.

TE Adam Shaheen
Interesting combine numbers, I did not know Shaheen led all TE's for the bench press. TE's 3, 4 , and 5 picked: #3 - Njoku, 6-4, 246 lbs, 4.64 40, 21 reps, 6.97 cone, 4.34 shuttle, 37.5 vert, 133 broad #4 - Everett, 6-3, 239 lbs, 4.62 40, 22 reps, 6.99 cone, 4.33 shuttle, 37.5 vert, 125 broad #5 - Shaheen, 6-6, 278 lbs, 4.79 40, 24 reps, 7.09 cone, 4.38 shuttle, 32.5 vert, 121 broad So Shaheen ran slightly slower (but has 30-40 lbs on the others), had the most bp reps, had a comparable 3-cone and shuttle. His vertical was better than Howard's and his broad was the same. I stand corrected. This was actually a decent pick, and if he can perform near his athletic capability, Trubisky is going to have a huge RZ target.

We have the 10th & 13th pick in round 4
I would love someone like Antonio Garcia from Troy (OT), or one of the top WR's remaining. If Gonzalez is still on the board with our 2nd 4th rounder, go for it, draft Gonzalez and fill a need. He would easily be an upgrade over Barth.

We have the 10th & 13th pick in round 4
Combine the picks trade down. That is what Pace seems best at.

Trade Value Chart
If you use the same chart for our trade back with Arizona, we win that trade as well and gain the equivalent of Pick 139. What makes me sick is the 49ers just flipped our 3rd for a 2nd next year. So for doing absolutely nothing, they now have an extra 2nd and 3rd next year.
-
TE Adam Shaheen
That was a good spot for Quincy Wilson or Obi Melifonwu, wtf. There is no way Shaheen was the best player on their board. So we have now overpaid for Glennon and drafted Trubisky, and overpaid for Sims and drafted Shaheen? What is Pace thinking? I don't mind drafting him, but how does this improve our team over Miller and Sims? The 2nd round no less. That is supposed to be a starter.

Pace on MG/MT
Trust me, I am confused. I am just saying this has become a polar opposite draft. Either Pace and the Bears look brilliant and Lynch is ripped for passing on Trubisky, or Trubisky becomes a bust, Pace is fired, and Lynch looks like a genius for fleecing us for literally nothing.

Trade Value Chart
This guy built a new trade value chart based on the 124 trades after the last CBA, which seems more accurate than the older chart. http://www.patspulpit.com/2017/4/23/153981...-chart#comments If you use this chart, the #3 pick is worth 514 pts and the #2 pick is worth 717 pts. Our 3rd rounder is worth 75 pts and our 4th rounder is worth 28. So if you give them the same value for 3rd round picks (75+75) for this year and next year, the 4th and #3, the total is 692. So surprisingly, we actually win this trade, and it is close enough to being a wash. The question becomes, was it necessary? The next team that would seem to need a QB was NYJ, and if they tried to move up to #2, it would basically cost their entire draft (at least (1st-5th). Then if you look at teams like KC and HOU who made trades to draft QB's, if they wanted to move to #2, it would cost at least their next two drafts (every pick). So in order for SF to get the player they wanted, there was no way to move down very far (for Solomon). So the Bears did not have to trade up to get Trubisky because there would not be a realistic alternative to the Bears offer. Houston's trade made sense, they have a top 5 defense, and made the playoffs, so they were a QB away from going further in the playoffs. I don't think the Bears were in a position to give up picks with so many holes to fill, but we will see. I like Trubisky, but not what we gave up to get him.
