Absolutely, definitely not a direct line, but I would assume some influence.
-
Gore/Maxwell/Kiko was around the same cap hit as McCoy.
-
huge rumor, so take it with a grain of salt, but a guy in this thread said it is a done deal: https://twitter.com/sportsmockery/status/574686147504402434

Gore to the Eagles. 4/36 to Flowers, so $9 mil seems like the standard for high level CBs.
-
Another CB off the market: With Jackson getting $8.5 and now Maxwell over $10, the bar looks pretty high for CB contracts.

Yeah, I think we literally need one or the other if we are going to a 3-4. With Del Rio's history (JAX and DEN), and with OAK's cap situation (and missing out on Suh), they are probably the first option. lol on pot roast!
-
lol, just watching Twitter and surfing the interwebs. If you indeed are cooking pot roast, I would say that is a pretty good sign. Might be the Knighton variety or the Shelton variety.

https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/574632313893449728 I would hope that if we wanted him, we would have a leg up considering Fox (assuming he liked Fox). Oakland has the money, Indy has the best chance for winning now, and Washington is where good players go to lose.

I have been right there with you since as early as I can remember (late 70's games). The biggest reason for optimism is with the new front office and coaching staff. I don't think we have ever had a stronger core group from top to bottom (Pace-Fox-Gase-Fangio)
-
So do we finally put it together this year or next (w/ Cutler)?
-
True, but he also was on the team that went to the AFC Championship with Sanchez, and then the drop off that occurred afterwards. I think he would have been a little less supportive if he didn't feel strongly about Cutler. You don't say someone can be the best in the league to compliment them, you can say that he is a great QB, great talent, etc. I just that was an interesting comment.

I don't know if anyone listened to the Slauson interview, but it was pretty good (link below). He said he was impressed with Pace and his vision, talked with Coach Fox about accountability (wants to be held accountable as professional athletes, doesn't want gray area, wants black and white, and that is what Fox is all about). He was asked about Long moving to LT, and just said we need him on the field. He said Forte is an every down back. On Marshall, he said he didn't know a whole lot about personnel decisions, so he couldn't say that he was surprised or not; but Brandon is a great player and will be missed on this team. This seemed like a really odd answer as either you are or are not shocked by the move. To me it seemed like he just wanted to take the high road and didn't say either way, then said Brandon was a great player and would be missed. The most interesting part of the interview was the last question when asked about if he wanted to see Cutler back with team: I was honestly surprised at how supportive his answer was. Saying that he has all the talent in the world is one thing, but saying that, then saying the team needed to be better, and that Cutler had the potential to be the best in the league was quite shocking to me. Hearing this makes me believe that he will be back. http://wgnradio.com/2015/03/08/chicago-bea...ort-him-better/

I just edited the thread title. Suh signed 6/$114 ($60 mil guaranteed). We won't face him again until 2018 (and Marshall for that matter). https://twitter.com/mortreport/status/574616959779631104

Yeah all 3 are also 4.5 or faster. Britt to me is sort of a sleeper because he has had some bad QB situations, and is still young. Royal would fill the slot need, and Hartline would be my 3rd choice, but I would be ok any of those 3.
-
Some interesting notes about what Pace and Fox have done recently: - so Pace wants speed and saw redundancy in the skill sets of BMarsh and Alshon. We are going to get faster, which is needed. - you can also add SF into the equation as they signed Bethea last off season as well. Those 3 were 3 of the top 5 safeties available in free agency. So I have to assume we sign either McCourty, Moore, or Searcy.
-
I wouldn't mind Kenny Britt (26), Eddie Royal (29), Brian Hartline (28), or Hakeem Nicks (27).
-
That is why I mentioned Jones and Jennings. They did nothing after leaving GB. For GB, it is a good move for this year, but next year Nelsons bigger money kicks in and they will have $22 mil or so tied up in 2x WRs.
-
Yeah he is already linked there, Major Wright and Conte getting the Bad News Bears band back together. Enjoy the Cover-0 Tampa.
-
Oh, I was seeing Jags/Raiders offering $1-2 more than GB, and GB was originally offering $8-9, so it seems like they went up a little and met halfway.
-
He only got $6 mil more than Jackson. I am surprised too because this was his big contract opportunity. He probably saw what happened to Jennings and Jones when they left.

Free Agents are dropping fast by re-signing with their original teams (and not even testing free agency). Kind of odd, but it is definitely going to inflate the market for those left in it. Bad news for us and others with cap space and holes to fill. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/574377096652406784

This is from Aaron Leming who has broke several stories before the mainstream media. So his theories carry a little more weight than others. https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL/status/574363450983387137

Yeah, give Peanut a 1-year farewell deal and address other positions, $8.5/yr for Jackson is really high.
-
Raiders (ton of cap space) and San Diego have high taxes. Jags (ton of cap space) and Miami have no tax. Giants and Bears are big markets (where Suh alluded he wanted to play in). Giants and Dolphins have very little cap space, so I would be surprised if he signed a mega-contract at those locations. Jax and Oak have a ton of space making them logical. The Bears and Chargers have similar situations in regards to cap space, but Chicago is obviously the bigger market.
-
Yeah, these early contracts will set the market. Major Wright also re-signs with TB.
