Trade back to around 50, and pick a 3rd back up.
  2. Again if you think about it, we gave up #3, 2x 3rd's and a 4th for Trubisky. Are you telling me we couldn't get Garappolo for that price and then not sign Glennon? It is almost like we thought Cleveland was taking Trubisky at #1 and when he didn't go, we over-reacted and overpaid to move up one slot. Think of SF, if they don't trade with us, they don't get Thomas, he would not last past #3. So we actually had as much leverage as SF did. So if they traded with anyone else (that wanted Trubisky), they would not have been able to draft Thomas. So we should not have had to give up what we did to draft Trubisky.

Lattimore, Allen, and Hooker still on the board
  5. WTF

adam replied to dawhizz's topic in Bearstalk
So we used #3, two 3rd's, and a 4th for Trubisky, so why would we not just give up #3 for JimmyG and keep all our other picks?
  6. WTF

The trade value has us losing by 170, so the equivalent to a late 3rd (which seems like a huge overpay for 1 spot). The only way Pace redeems himself is if he parlays this into multiple picks starting with #12, 2x 2nd's (33, 52), and a 3rd this year (65), and at least a 3rd next year. Otherwise, this is brutal. We have too many holes to fill to lose 3 picks in the first 4 rounds over the next two years. Even if Trubisky ends up being good, his rookie contract will be over before we will have enough draft picks contributing.

What if Cleveland gives us even a bigger haul back including the #12 for him? That is the only way this works. Otherwise, Pace should be fired before tomorrow.
  8. adam replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
After how the Blackhawks season ended, this is just horrible.
  9. adam replied to jason's topic in Bearstalk
wtf, seriously, you give up 2x 3rd's and a 4th to move up one pick?
  10. adam replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
I would only do that if we could use 37 and another pick to move back into the first. So two 1st's and the #1 pick in the 2nd would be sweet. We could then go BPA twice and get a QB in the first 33 picks. That would be awesome.

I was thinking more along the lines of a Thursday Night game away which is historically bad for road teams.
  12. Outside of 2015, his numbers are pretty solid. I am not as high on his as others, but he is still a top 10-12 QB. I think when some say he is "the best" then they are definitely over-rating him.
  13. adam replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
So that would say the Bears board is: 1. Garrett 2. Watson 3. Thomas
  14. adam replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
To me 6 is the low end and 8-9 is the high end.

We were 2-4 in the Division last year on a 3 win team. Let's just say we split and go 3-3. I think we get wins against CLE and SF, that is 5 wins with these 8 games remaining: Falcons (11-5) at Bucs (9-7) Steelers (11-5) at Ravens (8-8) Panthers (6-10) at Saints (7-9) at Eagles (7-9) at Bengals (6-9-1) I can see us beating the Panthers at home and either the Saints or Bengals on the road. That is 7 wins without too much fuss. We play our only Thursday Night game at GB, which was more than likely a loss anyway. So we end up with an extended week to prep for Monday night against Minnesota. We also do not play any teams coming off a bye week. For how bad we were last year, only ATL, NO, PIT, GB, and CIN gained more yards on offense than us (CIN gained 7 more). Only MIN, BAL, PIT, and PHI allowed less yards than us on defense last year.
  16. So even Stinger's message could be fake, you never know.

  18. This is posturing. They probably don't want someone jumping to #2 and taking they player we want.
  19. I just don't think Barth is the long term answer. Gonzalez or Elliott are the only two I would consider, and it would be in the 7th. On the main topic, I don't see us going ILB earlier than the 2nd 4th round pick. So if Brown is that guy, go for it.

Gil's assessments are pretty remarkable in regards to how the NFL teams value the players. In the last 3 years, 8 of his top 10 made the NFL Draft top 10 (7 out of 10 in 2013). In 2013, 12 of out his top 15 were drafted in the top 15. In 2014, his top 12 were drafted in the top 11 with the only anomaly being Manziel (which he had at #1 - probably his biggest mistake). Then in 2015, he had the entire top 15 in his first 17 picks with the anomalies of Perriman (his #10 drafted at 26) and Collins (which is understandable). In 2016, 10 out of his top 12 were drafted in the top 12. So if you take out Collins, of his top 15 picks from each draft from 2013-2016 (59 picks), only Geno Smith (39), Myles Jack (36), and A'Shawn Robinson (46) were not 1st round picks (all 2nd rounders). 95%. That is pretty incredible. 2013 1) Luke Joeckel, 2 2) Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah, 5 3) Dion Jordan, 3 4) Sharrif Floyd, 23 5) Eric Fisher, 1 6) Dee Milliner, 9 7) Geno Smith, 39 8) Lane Johnson, 4 9) Barkevious Mingo, 6 10) Xavier Rhodes, 25 11) Chance Warmack, 10 12) Jonathan Cooper, 7 13) Sheldon Richardson, 13 14) Star Lotulelei, 14 15) D.J. 21. Kicker is off the table?
  22. adam replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
Now I can see us moving back into the back end of the first to get a QB and the extra year on the contract for sure. A trade with Cleveland would be awesome. Give them #3 for #12, #33, #65, and #108. With all their extra picks, they would still pick in the 2nd and 4th rounds and get two of the top 3 picks. Then we can use #36 with #108 to move back into the back end of the 1st and still have the first pick in the 2nd. 3 picks in the top 33 would be sweet.

Good depth move, he knows the defense and is a good ST contributor.
  24. adam replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
I can't see a QB at #3, and it would be crazy to move from #3 to 2 or 1 to take anyone other than Garrett. Most of the rumors are to force other teams to make moves. I think at this point we are positioning to move down.
  25. Chicago Bears Round 1 (3): Jamal Adams, S, LSU Round 2 (36): Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama Round 3 (67): Carlos Watkins, DT, Clemson The Bears' secondary still needs a lot of work, but the good news for Chicago fans is that this draft is ripe with playmakers in the defensive backfield. Adams is the most complete DB in the class and one of the best safety prospects I've evaluated in recent years. He can cover the slot or patrol the deep half, and he's an elite run defender. I'm not as high on Humphrey as others, but he has a very high ceiling because of his size (6-foot, 197) and fluidity in coverage. Watkins is capable of developing into a three-down player in the NFL. ------------------------------------------------- What do you think? I don't know about Watkins in the 3rd. I would be fine with Adams and Humphrey 1-2.
