  1. 7. Shane Ray, OLB/DE 39. Kevin Johnson, CB 71. Hayes Pullard, OLB 103. Jake Ryan, ILB 167. James Sample, SS 199. Adrian Amos, FS I really like the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounders, but would go with Hroniss Grasu, C or Cody Prewitt, FS in the 3rd (both were available at our pick). A little crazy with back to back late rounds safeties, but at that point it really is a crapshoot anyway.

    Super Bowl Thread

Brady has been to 9 conference title games (12 yrs) and won 6, then won 4 Super Bowls. Montana has been to 6 conference title games (9 yrs), won 4, then won all 4 Super Bowls. Montana would have to get to 3 more title games in 3 years to match Brady's sustained success. I really think this 4th puts him over the edge, against one of the best defenses of all time.

    1. Carroll sounded like Trestman defending his play call, and you could tell he was lying. Worst offensive call in a Super Bowl due to the risk/reward of the play, 2nd down, and a timeout. 1a. Not to compare QBs, but when Cutler throws a pick like that (which he has), it is always on him. Surprising to see the media look to Bevell and Carroll instead. Wilson threw the ball, it was a bad pass, he led the WR too much, and it was too high. If you have watched any of Seattle's games, almost all of Wilson's completions are when he is out of the pocket on a broken play or he is throwing deep outside routes where there is no Safety help. Eventually teams are going to figure out that he is too short to make passes over the middle. He ended up 12-21 and that included Kearse's circus catch. Basically 60% completions and an INT at the 1 yard line. After his performance in the NFC Championship Game, he is basically why Seattle was in the hole they were against GB and why they lost last night. He is not a top-10 QB. 2. Sore losers, after the penalty by Bennett, which essentially ended the threat, there was no reason to pull a Schiano on a kneel down. I would've respected them a lot more if they lost with dignity, but they went out like babies. Sherman talking all that crap, yet the LOB allowed 14 pts in a 6-minute span in the 4th quarter. At least we can put to rest the 85 Bears comparisons, their defense is good, but that good. 3. All I am saying is you can make a case for him now (which I didn't think you could before). As much as you can say the INT was a big play, the Kearse catch was just as extraordinary. To me Kearse's play was more luck than skill. When you compare the two players, Montana was throwing to the best WR in history, so that helped. He also did not play in the salary cap era. Montana had 8 straight 10+ win seasons, and then Young followed with 8 of his own. Brady is on 11 and his worst record was 9-7. Also, most people don't remember, but SF had a top 5 defense the entire time Montana was QB, so he didn't have to do much to win. To me it is leaning towards Brady now. 4. What that tells me is that teams are closer than they appear. Almost any of the NFC teams could've made the Super Bowl, it was that close.

Some take-aways from the game: 1. Worst play call I have ever seen, was that Trestman or Lovie? Their luck ran out after the Kearse catch. 1a. Looked like a Cutler throw, I still feel Wilson is overrated. Can't throw a pick from the 1 there. Horrible throw. He only makes plays when the plays break down, can't live by that type of play. 2. Seattle lost a lot of respect with those antics at the end, no class. Hilarious to see all the smack talking and taunting and you lose. 3. Hard to argue with Brady as best of all time, Manning no longer in his class. Now between Montana and Brady only. 4. Dallas gets penalty picked up against Detroit, Bryant no-catch against GB, GB implodes against Seattle, then Seattle blows it from the 1 yard line. Crazy NFC. 5. We need a speedy WR with hands, Edelman played awesome.

    Poll for #7 Pick

Right now Ray has the lead, with Shelton second. I would honestly be happy with either.
  6. If Tillman can give us 2 productive years, that would be huge and one less hole to fill at least this year. We can reduce the need for CB's by one, which the way we have to fill holes, is a big deal. I trust Fox/Pace to get this right and I am good either way, but if Tillman just wants to retire a Bear and isn't asking for a lot of money. Signing him to a short/low cap hit deal would be beneficial for both sides.
  7. One of my biggest complaints last year was how our defense always seemed to be out of position. Either they lined up wrong, were out of position to make a play (and had to recover) or completely played the wrong gap; it was a like a guessing game and we always lost. The units also seemed disjointed. The DLine, LBs, and DBs were never on the same sheet of music. We would blitz and the CBs would be 10 yards off, or Safeties would come up and the CBs would expect support of the top. This occurred on every play. We only tackled the other team by accidentally running into them. The entire defense looked confused pre-snap too and then we were just chasing players on every play. This is all on Tucker. It will be a complete 180 this year with a real Head Coach and real Defensive Coordinator. Players will know "their job" on every play and know where they need to be. The Bears were the best Cover-0 team in the league (covering open space) last year. In a weird way, I think the epic fail of a defense negatively impacted our offense. The offense would fool our defense with plays that would fool no one else, we telegraphed every play, yet our defense was so bad it got fooled. So our offense was under-prepared to handle real defensive schemes and how to counter various pressures. Our offense was built to beat the Cover-0 and we were the only team playing it.
  8. I think SMC was stunted by his position and Mel Tucker's lack of coaching. Just read some of the comments on him from draft analysts before the draft: http://blogs.thescore.com/nfl/2012/04/16/d...shea-mcclellin/

    Cutting Cutler

Just holding players accountable is going to have a huge positive effect on this team.
  10. Hard game to pick, I don't like either team but my logical side wants to pick Seattle 24-20, but my gut is telling me NE 27-17. What do you think? Also, with the news about the Lynch extension, do you think Seattle can extend Lynch, make Wilson the highest paid QB, extend and give a raise to Wagner, and somehow resign Maxwell? To me Maxwell seems like the odd one out.

    Cutting Cutler

He is what he is but I still think he can play better. There were clear disconnects from the entire team last year. 2013 was more in line with where I believe we can be offensively. Cutler can improve and he will need to or he will no longer be on the team. Older players can play better in their 30's, Gannon and Young both figured it out in their 30s.

    Cutting Cutler

That is sort of my point. Here are all the QBs available via trade or free agency; are any of these better than Cutler: Sam Bradford, Nick Foles, Jake Locker, Brian Hoyer, Kyle Orton, Matt Moore, Michael Vick, Christian Ponder, Blaine Gabbert, Jason Campbell, Tavaris Campbell, Ryan Mallett

    Cutting Cutler

The only way I would trade/cut Cutler is if I knew who was replacing him. I feel like the defense was so bad the last few years that we wouldn't have done much better with anyone else anyway. So gaining cap space is great, but that doesn't guarantee anything. One crazy scenario I thought about has us in a 3 way trade with Philly and Tennessee where Philly drafts Mariota, we get Foles, and Tennessee gets Cutler and some picks.

    Poll for #7 Pick

AZ, Yeah I didn't list players that were off the board on majority of the mocks. I left Mariota, Winston, Williams, Gregory, and Cooper off the board.

    Poll for #7 Pick

There really is no wrong answer, but the only player on the list I would pass on would be Parker. As a secondary question, if Winston or Mariota drop to #7, would you pick either of them?
  16. We are on the clock at #7, these are the players on the board, with no trade partners, who is your pick?
  17. I like the first two, but don't think we can go past the 4th without a Safety. I would like to see DE/LB, ILB, S, OL, CB, QB.
  18. Another cool fact with our coaches, we now have 30 years of DC experience (Fangio-15, Donatell-8, Fox-7).
  19. I really think Fuller was hindered by Tucker's horrible coaching and scheme. Fuller actually got worse as the season went on. I would rather have Tillman and Fuller starting, bring in a free agent that is starting caliber, and draft one within the first 4 rounds. We now have Fox, Fangio, and Donatell overseeing the Secondary compared to Trestman, Tucker, Hoke.
  20. I would be more curious to see how many are still on the team that drafted them, how many pro bowlers, starters, and busts. All I know is we really can't draft much worse. Here is a good summary of drafts over the past 5 years: http://q.usatoday.com/2014/05/07/nfl-draft...gland-patriots/ Basically NO, SF, and DEN have all been great drafting teams, and we have been the worst. We are in a unique category with Jacksonville and no other team is even close to as bad as we have been. The chart says it all:
  21. I saw him on NFL Network yesterday and you could just hear the excitement in his voice. Even if he doesn't return, it nice to see players excited about the team and football again. I would sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal, the triceps injury was a freak injury, and with the missed games, he has that much more left in the tank.
  22. It was really bad if the kicker saw that. Now the only things to add for context, we had just lost to Detroit, were 5-7 and essentially eliminated from playoff contention. Two games later Cutler was benched for Clausen, and then we played Minnesota. So I can see how there would be even less leadership visible at that point as we all were just trying to get the season over with. When Urlacher was not re-signed, this was mentioned, he was the leader of the team and rallied the troops. Cutler just doesn't have that in him. He has shown it more on the field, but obviously he doesn't do it in the locker room. The positive out of that article is that even Feely acknowledged that we are "loaded with talent".
  23. Everything is a gate nowadays. So I guess it was a water scandal in the 1970's. The Blount thing is crazy. So you purposely get released by a team to go back to your old one without any repercussions? They should prevent this from occurring in the future. The Blount-Rule to prevent a Blountgate.
  24. His attitude and dedication really soured on me over the past year, and I was always a huge Briggs fan. To me it would come down to pay as I think he can still play at a high level.
