That is sort of why he was excluded from my list.

How about one of the following Coordinators: 1. Pep Hamilton, Indy OC, former Bears QB Coach 2. Teryl Austin, Det DC, #1 Defense, Division knowledge, we don't have to face him 3. Bob Sutton, KC DC, Great Defense, works with Reid 4. Todd Bowles, ARZ DC, Great Defense, works with Arians 5. Tom Clements, GB OC, Great Offense, Division knowledge, we don't have to face him 6. Pat Shurmur, PHI OC, Great uptempo offense, football genes 7. Adam Gase, Den OC, questionable due to Manning, and probably too young, but similar to McDaniels without the baggage

Cutler is now 60th in Passing yards all-time with 26,632, and will pass Steve Grogan and Bobbie Lane next week. Right now he is tied with Ken Stabler with 2,270 completions (51st) and is 28 from Jeff George (49th all-time). He just passed Trent Green and Jeff Garcia in this game. With 176 TDs, he is now in sole possession of 54th all-time surpassing Joe Namath, Norm Van Brocklin, Steve McNair, and Otto Graham in this game. Forte is now 53rd all-time rushing with 7,399 and is 208 yards away from tying Terrell Davis. His all-purpose yards have him 113th all-time with 10,893 (74th yards from scrimmage) and he should pass Lance Alworth, Amani Toomer, Gary Clark and Shaun Alexander next week. Marshall is now 35th in receptions all-time (761) and should pass James Lofton, Eric Moulds, Chad Johnson, and Marshall Faulk (767) next week to move into 31st all-time. With 9,636, Marshall is 364 receiving yards from 10k and is now 47th all-time. He just passed Wes Welker in this game and is about to pass Antonio Gates for 46th all-time. He is also catching up to Megatron who is 45th. Brandon also now has 65 Rec TDs, and is tied for 49th all-time with this epic group: Gary Clark, Henry Ellard, Michael Irvin, Charlie Joiner, Bobby Mitchell, and Sterling Sharpe. Alshon continues his trek up the Bears record books. He is now 31st all-time in Receptions with 168, one behind Brad Muster, 3 behind Dennis Gentry, and 5 behind Tom Waddle. He should pass them all next game and be 27th all-time in Bears history. Forte is still #2, and BMarsh is now in sole possession of 8th. For Rec Yards, Forte is 10th all-time, Marshall is 11th, and Jeffery is 24th. Forte needs 57 yards to pass Dick Gordon for 9th. For Rec TDs, Marshall is now tied with Conway and Morris with 31 (5th in team history). Gould is 40th all-time in FGs with 242 and is one from tying Jim Breech for 39th. With 3 XP, Gould now has 346 for his career, good enough for 56th all-time. With 1,072 pts (47th), Robbie is now 3 pts from passing Garo Yepremian for 46th on the all-time list. Gould is 1 FG from tying Butler for the all-time Bears leader in FG's (with 50 less attempts). Jared Allen now has 131.0 sacks and is 1.5 sacks away from tying LT and Leslie O'Neal for 10th all-time. Career Comparison: B. Marshall vs C. Johnson: Receptions: 761 - 606 (Marshall +155) Yards: 9636 - 9848 (Johnson +212) TDs: 65 - 69 (Johnson +4)

I don't think the options can be "do nothing" and "make sure the other option is better". The options are "do nothing" and "give yourself a chance to be better". There is no way to predict the future, but if we don't try, then you can expect more of the same over the last couple of years. Sure Cutler is better than the platoon of QBs we have run out over the years, but the question is he good enough to win some tight games and give us a chance to win in the regular season and playoffs. We are paying him a lot and he has under-performed for the money. We could get similar output for a fraction of the cost and use the money to address other glaring needs. Who knows, his contract may have prevented us from landing TJ Ward or J. Byrd. I sort of like how Seattle did it, they drafted a QB AND picked up one in free agency. Eventually one will stick. I think we are still a year away from trading Cutler, because his stats are at least decent even though a lot has come in garbage time.
-
Too bad we never had the opportunity to get him as the head coach.

I have mixed feelings. If we are the team that would should be, it shouldn't have come down to an interception in the endzone to seal the victory against a rookie QB on the road. We still have 1 game with more than 27 points, and for this offense, that is hard to believe. I like how Marshall and Jeffery are playing, Marshall is almost willing this team to victory. We still need to cut down on the turnovers. If we end up at 7-9, and 3rd in the division with the 18th pick, this is a worthless win. If we can string together 5 wins and make this a competitive season in December, then it is a great win and building block for the future.
-
Winner gets worse draft pick and 3rd place bragging rights, loser takes the NFC North cellar and almost locks in a top 10 pick. I am torn, I really want a win and for us to go on a 7 game run and totally redeem ourselves, but the other half says this season is toast and the only way to get change is to tank even further. If we lose to Minny at home with AP, we need to fire someone within an hour of the game ending.
-
I agree that Phillips is the root of the problems. We need leadership and accountability, not lip service. Both Emery and Trestman are well-spoken, but neither are leaders. We also lack leadership in the locker room (once Urlacher left). In regards to last year's draft, the jury is still out on Ferguson and Sutton. This defense is so bad, that it would be hard to give an honest assessment. Sorry to change topics but I found this interesting about Cutler. How come Josh McDaniels (who Belichick and Brady both trust) wanted nothing to do with Cutler? He looks like a genius now. He obviously knew what Cutler was made of. I have a funny feeling Cutler is just playing his time out and will retire after next year. He is so vilified now and literally has no fans. I can't imagine anyone rooting for the guy anymore. The media has always been on him, but now the entire fan base is against you and I assume a lot of his teammates. Peter King pretty much sums it up here: http://mmqb.si.com/2014/11/11/jay-cutler-l...-chicago-bears/
-
That would be awesome. How about Cutler donates $100k back to the season ticket holders per INT, and the Defense gives back 100K per TD they allow. You could eventually get paid to watch the games.
-
I knew it, he was the problem. What a cancer to the locker room, good riddance. Now we can get back to winning some football games for a 7-9 season and the 20th pick in the draft.

1. The Bears defense has allowed as many 50-point games in the past 11 games as it did in the previous 759. 2. Chicago joined the 1923 Rochester Jeffersons as the only teams in NFL history to allow 50 points in back-to-back games. 3. Chicago’s 42-0 halftime deficit was the second biggest in NFL history. 4. Chicago has allowed more points in the first half of games (179) than the Cleveland Browns have allowed all season (172). 5. Overall, the Bears are 31st in the NFL in opposing quarterback’s rating (107.0), ahead of only the Jets (108.8). Only two teams have been worse in that category in the last 10 years. 6. Cutler’s 10 interceptions this season have been returned for 326 yards (32.6 yards per pick). Aaron Rodgers’ 55 career interceptions have been returned for a total of 366 yards. .....and we don't fire anyone? http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/11/chicago-be...s-marc-trestman

It looks like the top 3 picks are locked up. Then it gets interesting from 4-13. Based on our current record and SoS, we would draft 8th with the worst position being 13th and best probably 4th. 1. OAK 0-9 2. JAX 1-9 3. TB 1-8 4. NYJ 2-8 (5) 5. TEN 2-7 (9) 6. ATL 3-6 (31) 7. WAS 3-6 (13) 8. CHI 3-6 (12) 9. STL 3-6 (3) 10. NYG 3-6 (2) 11. CAR 3-6-1 (8) 12. HOU 4-5 (22) 13. MIN 4-5 (21) Top Prospects: DT/DE - L. Williams, USC QB - Mariota, ORE; Winston, FSU RB - Gurley, GA WR - Cooper, ALA OT - Peat, STAN; Scherff, IA; Ogbuehi, TXAM DE/OLB - Gregory, NEB; Ray, MIZ, Floyd, GA LB - Thompson, WAS; Beasley, CLEM CB - Williams, FSU S - Collins, ALA Landon Collins in the top 10 would be a great pick. I am assuming 2x QB's go before we pick, which would result in us getting one of the top-5 non-QB players in the draft. Also, we could possibly get a 2nd pick in the top 40 and 3 in the top 100. We really need to hit home runs on all those picks.

Actually Singletary had both nicknames.

The organization has to bring in someone that is going to hold everyone accountable, and not just say it. I would love Holmgren, Cowher, Chucky, Harbaugh, anyone, even Iron Mike. We have too much talent to be 3-6. We only need 7 straight wins to miss the playoffs.
-
I think the defense is so bad that the offense doesn't even try. Their WR end around always fools that silly SMC running the wrong way. Safeties are playing the run when the CB's are releasing WRs to open space to guard against the Center in the flat pulling and declaring himself eligible in flight.

Trestman is in over his head. It is clear that he cannot handle the pressure. We have seen signs of it the last two years. He almost reminds me of this very nice, but passive High School Science teacher I had. He could not control his classrooms. Wild kids would tell him to F*ck off and he would just ignore them. Even when they interrupted the instruction, he would just go about his business. We actually had to step in to keep the kids under control, and had to get the Dean involved because the teacher would not address it. This year reminds me of that experience. I can just see Trestman trying to get everyone to do something and they either ignore him or do their own thing. Thank god we were not on Hard Knocks, because it would be an even bigger embarrassment (and another excuse). Last year he singlehandedly cost us the playoffs with his ridiculous decisions. He never challenged correctly, and was very passive in his play calling. He had Gould kick on a 2nd and 7 from the MIN 29 in OT, and he missed, a few plays later we lose. We were moving the ball easily, and could've gotten another first down for an easier kick. I have seen kicks on 3rd down, but never one on 2nd down from that far out. Gould missed one earlier and Walsh also missed a long one. You at least get it a couple of yards closer. His reasoning was that he didn't want to have a penalty take us out of FG position? Really. How about you try to win the game until you can't anymore. The only scenario that I have not considered is that Trestman didn't want Cutler, but someone else in the organization did, and he had to fit a square peg in a round hole. Cutler's best bet is to retire, because no one will ever sign him as their starter or backup. He is seen as a cancer now and if Trestman can't fix him, who can?
-
Mongo, who do you upgrade on the OLine, I assume Mills. Bushrod is signed to a big contract, and Garza, Long, and Slauson (prior to injury) were solid. For the DLine, we just drafted 2, have Paea, Ratliff, and 3x FA signings. Allen is too expensive to cut, and Houston has a big cap hit too. We really need some NFL caliber Safetys and a new LB Corps. I agree on Tucker and Decam, they need to be fired.
-
We won the 2nd half 14-13. Our defense only allowed 6 which was less than our offense let up (7 on Pick-6). We had a Special Teams TD, and no one got injured on a sack celebration (because we had no sacks). We won the penalty battle 11-5 and had more penalty yards than GB 163-50. Williams had 288 Return Yards on a whopping 10 KO's. Our defensive players did not record a single Pass Defended, INT, Forced Fumble, or Sack. They kept a clean box score with tackles only. We let up 4 more pts than our last game and increased the margin of loss by 13. For our last 3 games, we have a point differential of -82.
-
That is what needs to happen this week at a minimum. If there are not changes made this week, we need to seriously boycott. Do not attend anymore home games, leave Soldier Field empty and see how that goes over.
-
I know everyone is pissed off, rightfully so, but let's keep it clean and stay away from personal attacks, political statements, or anything offensive (race, gender, etc). This is a time where we need to unite and come together as a fan base, and force changes within the organization. So let's keep it clean and provide some content other than "they suck." We are better than that.

OP, I agree, I was going to say the same thing. I have been watching for almost 40 years (as long as I can remember) and even the bad teams I watched and rooted for. This team is by far the most disappointing I can remember. I can't watch them anymore, and won't for the rest of the year. With this much talent on the team, we have yet to muster more than 28 pts (once)? We have been outscored 106-37 the last two games and that was because the other teams let up. If Rodgers stayed in, they could've easily scored 70 pts. I have never seen an offense look so defensive. Cutler is literally backpedaling and throwing off his back foot on every play and our only positive plays are these little bubble and WR screens for 3-5 yards. I have given Cutler every benefit of the doubt, but he sucks. He cannot read defenses and does not go through any type of progression. He literally exhibits every bad habit a QB can have. If you want to teach a young QB what not to do, watch Cutler. He has to be one of the most disappointing QBs of all time, George, Leaf, etc. Then you add his smug demeanor and sideline daze and this guy is impossible to like or root for. He was picking and biting on a hangnail on the sidelines. How about looking at some pictures or the tablet of your complete ineptness? Talk with your teammates and Offensive Line; find out who is doing something wrong and fix it. I would take McCown, Orton, or even Grossman over Cutler any day (and that is saying a lot). They all did more with less. The coaches.....what kind of a game plan was that? The offense is the most predictable in the league and that ridiculous WR end around is about 10 years too late. It fools no one. Our offense always seems to be on the defensive. We are blocking to prevent a loss, not blocking to make a gain (if that makes sense). Trestman is supposed to be an offensive guru, and his offense has indeed been offensive. Kromer? I thought you were great with Offensive Lines? I guess not. The defense, wow, can we have more players out of position on every play? It felt like we only had 9 players on the field. If we rush 4 against their 5, we have at least 2 free defenders to cover space or double up somewhere. This is not rocket science, there are only 5 players other than the QB you need to account for with your 11. The field is only so wide and the QB can only throw so far. Tucker is an idiot, and never should've been a DC. Seemed like a last resort signing (no one else wanted the situation). Special Teams, can we be any worse? I know Hester would not fix everything, but he is better than anything we have right now and was at least exciting to watch even if he did lose some yards. Williams can run from the 5 and still not make it to the 20. That runback does not make up for the other failings, GB was not even trying at that point. The punt? What the hell is wrong with O'Donnell, he has to be off roids or something. You don't lose 10-15 yards off your kicks in one year. We have all given Emery a pass so far, but he too now needs to be accountable. The Allen for Peppers swap did not work, Peppers leads the Packers in sacks and Allen gets manhandled on every play. Houston is an idiot and was over paid for one good season in Oakland (on a horrible team). Willie Young was his best FA signing. Bushrod sucks, we have no Safeties, and Bostic and Greene have not improved. McClellin? To this day I still don't understand his thinking on this pick. There were so many options, and you go with a 3-4 OLB from a weak conference, and you were a former scout. I believe he let Urlacher go a year too early and it changed the entire dynamic of the team's vibe. They could've signed him to a one-year deal and let it be known that it would be his last year. I think that situation split the locker room and we never truly recovered. Then you hand the franchise over to Cutler before he ever showed he could handle it. Now look where we are? The entire team is held hostage by Cutler and Allen's cap hits next year ($32 mil). If I am Tillman or Briggs, there is no way I am coming back to this team. It is not the same one they played on most of their careers. We had such a small window with Forte and Marshall, and we blew it. They both have 1-2 years left, but there are so many issues on both sides of the ball that you cannot possibly fix in that amount of time. We really need to clean house from top to bottom and take a year or two of sucking (top 10 picks) and get this thing right. /rant
-
Yeah, but the cap hits are 19.5 then 3.0. $3 million in 2016 is nothing so the 2nd year is not a big deal. The only year it would be felt would be next year, but who cares. Release, cut, or trade every vet over 28 and stockpile a crap load of picks the next two years.
-
No way, the Raiders have at least been competitive and have a young QB that will only get better. We got a fluke win in SF after a crazy comeback, beat a crappy Jets team (who didn't have Harvin and Smith was starting), and a bad Falcons team.

No identity and no leadership.
