  1. He does remind me of Hester with his initial step/juke on returns.

    Looking Ahead

The subtle roster turnover has been extraordinary. Not only are we cheaper, we are considerably younger. We also have no ridiculous contracts that end up being cap killers. I have the feeling that this is the first year of a long run of success for this team.

The rest of the 53 man roster? Even at league minimums, that adds up. We will more than likely re-sign a few others to extensions and then look to bring in 1-2 new FA's.
  4. Sweet, glad to have him locked in now with salaries skyrocketing and the cap increasing.
  5. I expect him to kick much better than Podlesh/Maynard so he wouldn't be a surprise to me.
  6. Here he is with some practice punts:
  7. of the 15 Punters in the last 2 years to average over 47 per punt, only 3 were undrafted. So drafting a punter late makes a lot of sense. Also, Punting may have been our biggest weakness over the past decade, but because of Gould and Hester on ST, it was overlooked. Going back to 2007 we have never been better than 22nd in punting, finished dead last twice, and 30th or worse 4 times. Our highest punt average was 43.9 (Podlesh 2011). Otherwise, we have been pretty bad: 41.8, 41.2, 41.4, 40.1, 43.9, 42.0, and 40.6. Those numbers were consistently 7-10 yards worse than the best punter in the league. I thought it may have been due to the number of kicks inside 20, but we rarely hit the top 10 in that category and there were always punters with better averages and more kicks inside 20 every year. This pick may have more impact than we think if he can average 46-47 per kick and give us 5 extra yards every possession.

If he is quicker and stronger, he has a good shot to contribute.

    SMC Workout

Here is an article about SMC's transformation from stack.com with some videos. http://www.stack.com/2014/05/13/how-nfl-li...lin-got-ripped/ He looks much better than the comparison pic from the original article. For those looking to do the same workout, I've attached the workout plan: scot_prohgaska_workout.pdf
  11. It probably has more to do with the agents than anything.

  13. I don't think so. I thought it was only 1st rounders. Otherwise they would be holding up #2, 3-7 jerseys.
  14. Stein is crazy good and we will likely have all signed prior to the rookie minicamp.
  15. Not to be silly, but our Punting will be better and coverage team with Senn as well. Our defensive improvement should be +2 games, offensive improvement considering 2nd year in same system is +1 game, and ST is even with loss of Hester but better kicking, so we should technically be 3 games better. With a tougher schedule that may equal 2 extra wins.
  16. 12th is about right just for the draft with us moving up 3. I could see us over CIN and ARZ too. The Packers moving up 7 with that draft seems kinda high. The last week refers to Week 18 Power Rankings, so if you take into account our FA acquisitions, we should be slightly higher. I would say: SEA, SF, DEN, NO, NE, PHI, IND, GB, CAR, then CHI for the top 10 after all offseason moves.
  17. With Pryor and HHCD available, Fuller had to be rated a lot higher for Emery to go that route with Safety being a bigger need. I still would've preferred HHCD in the 1st but Fuller and Vereen is a pretty good consolation.
  18. Hell, our 4th Round may be the best of any team of any round (in terms of value~performance) with Carey and Vereen.

    2014 Defense

Fuller is going to see a lot of time as well in Nickel and backing up both Peanut and Jennings.
  20. It is hard to grade evenly when the teams don't pick in the same spots. I think you have to assess from a relative point of view. Like STL, it is not very hard to hit on 2 picks within the first 13. To me, they drafted to their slot values. The same can be said for CLE, JAX, BUF, and ATL. All those had top 10 picks and multiple picks in the top 40. Also, Buffalo traded away a potential top 15 pick next year to move up to get Watkins, so that waters it down a little bit for me. HOU had the #1 pick, so Clowney was a no-brainer; for me Nix was their best pick outside of Clowney. If you exclude those 6 teams, that leaves BAL, CHI, NO, PIT and TEN with the best drafts.
  21. Ok, I added a BBCode to the forums to allow direct YouTube embedding. For the protection of the site, I made it so you only include the 11-character Video ID and not the entire URL (so links can't be highjacked). To add YouTube videos, just use the "Insert Special Item" drop down or Quick Access dialogue box. In both, you will see an option to Insert:YouTube. Once you do that, all you put in the field is the 11-character video ID. So for the following video, all I put in the text box was: YtxnssPO_ec which gives you this: The only concern is if we start spamming threads with a bunch of videos, so please keep the video embedding limited to one per post.
  22. Pro Bowlers from 2012-2013 Drafts: Bears, Redskins, and Vikings with 2x Pro Bowlers, and we are only team with 1 in both years. Still early, but nice trend. 2012 Andrew Luck, QB, IND Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS Matt Kalil, OT, MIN Luke Kuechly, LB, CAR Dontari Poe, DT, KC Doug Martin, RB, TB Alshon Jeffery, WR, CHI Russell Wilson, QB, SEA Nick Foles, QB, PHI Alfred Morris, RB, WAS Blair Walsh, K, MIN Justin Bethel, S, ARZ 2013 Eric Reid, S, SF Kyle Long, OG, CHI Eddie Lacy, RB, GB

    Christian Jones

Yeah, we picked up some impact UDFA's this year, the best group I can remember with a bunch of guys projected as high as the 3rd Round.
