  1. A very satisfying Packers loss tonight. That has to be the worst way to lose, at home, with 0:00 on the clock and nothing you can do about it. The kick looked like it was almost blocked but the GB player seemed like he was way offsides.
  2. Agreed, I am still pissed about last week, but it is nice to see them lose with Rodgers sitting there on the sideline as Kaepernick leads the 49ers down on the last drive. The game never should've been that close with all the holding not called, but in the end it has to sting for GB who lost to SF last year in the playoffs. Now SF gets arguably the easier matchup in CAR and GB gets the 21st pick as the worst team in the playoffs. I also got some satisfaction out of the Philly loss, so overall not a bad weekend. This sets up for some great games next week.
  3. I trust Emery and Trestman more than I ever trusted Jerry and Lovie.
  4. The refs never call holding on GB, on the 4th down pass to Cobb, someone was mugged with a headlock from behind right in front of Rodgers and no call.
  5. Dalton makes you appreciate having Cutler as our QB.
  6. I still believe Tucker is safe because they could be interviewing people already, so I have to assume there is a reason. There is not much deception to any Cover-2 or 4-3 defense. If you have the right personnel, it can be effective, but if not, you can really get torched. No other defense seems to be so bang or bust. I would like to see a 3-4 at least considered, but unless we can improve our tackling and discipline, the scheme doesn't really matter.
  7. So far so good, SF up at half. I would rather see them pull away blow them out in the 2nd half.
  8. It looks different, try clearing the cache of your browser.
  9. I think Tucker would be gone by now so we could be interviewing potential candidates. To me this means he is getting a pass due to the injuries.
  10. It's not like all the GB players like sub zero temps though, so in the end I think the weather is a wash and may actually give SF an edge since they are the better running team and defense. The only thing that sucks is that we shouldve been playing at home today.
  11. I thought we could use a thread to discuss the current games, if anyone is watching. The Indy game was crazy, Luck got some luck when Brown fumbled in the Red Zone and the ball bounced off a players helmet right to Luck who dove into the endzone. Glad to see Philly lose, but their offensive performance against the Saints really showed how bad our defense was. Brees throws 2 INTs and wins. McCoy longest run was 11 yards. GO SF!!!!
  12. I just don't think you can discount players stats because the stats don't support a certain position or point of view. Superstars are still really good, even on bad teams. They make the other players around them better. The red flag is when you improve the talent around a player and the play of that player does not improve as much as the talent. Just look at Cutler's numbers "with no one" and with the current team: His best yards per game before this season was 231.9 and that improved to 238.3 this year. A 6.4 yard improvement from 2011 to 2013. With all these stud playmakers, and all we get is 6 yards? TD/INT Ratio - 2013 was his 3rd best year, not his best, though he had the best talent and O-Line he ever had. 7.4 yards an attempt? Tied for 2nd best, and again with the best supporting cast. The only noticeable improvement was his Comp% at 63.1, up from 60.5 in 2009. Now the interesting part is this could be that the receivers are actually better and making the tougher catches, not that he is more accurate, which is an interesting perspective. He could be the same guy but the receivers are bringing the completion % up. So in the end, we know exactly what we are going to get from Cutler. After 8 years in the league, he is not going to magically change, and this was evident this year because technically he was very similar to what he has always been. He is going to average around 230 yards passing, and have a TD/INT Ratio of about 1.5. If you include fumbles, his TD to Turnover ratio is going to be very close to 1:1. I still don't see why we are paying him that much but I guess knowing what we are going to get every week is better than what we've had in the past. Eight now he is very similar to Jim Everett from the Rams. Both were 1st round picks who have/had one Pro Bowl and one season with more than 4,000 yards passing somewhat early in their careers and never really did much after that. I really really really hope Cutler proves me wrong and blows this comparison out of the water. Otherwise, we know what to expect for the next few years.
  13. Plus you have the rookie pool, so if you take out the projected $2 million, that is $7 million for Slauson, Fiametta, and the rookie pool. That sounds about right, and makes the Cutler deal even worse if that is the case, because essentially that means no impact FA's will be brought in.
  14. You can't say that, the last 2 years he has had Forte, Marshall, and Jeffery. Then added Bennett at TE this year. Other QB's have done more with less.
  15. On the defensive side, I would be happy with Byrd or Ward at Safety and Bennett on the line for free agents, then draft 3 who can contribute.

    Lovie Smith

Frazier hired as DC. TB is going to have a really good defense.
  17. To me, it is an organization with historically bad QB play and lack of continuity not wanting to continue that trend. The head shed must believe that this is better than McCown or a rookie, but with the cap hit, the Bears could've signed McCown, and possibly acquired Byrd, Michael Bennett, and Alex Mack for the same cap hit as Cutler. So Cutler, Conte, Peppers, Garza, or McCown, Byrd, Bennett, Mack. Now assuming McCown would be signed either way, it is essentially Cutler vs Byrd, Bennett, and Mack. All 3 of those players would be huge upgrades over the current players and McCown would be a slight downgrade or upgrade, depending on who you ask. Regardless of McCown's play, there is no way Cutler will outplay the value of Byrd, Bennett, and Mack, ever.
  18. Thanks for posting. To me it is still a head scratcher. I understand them taking one bigger hit to allow some flexibility in other years of the contract, and year's 2, 3, and 4 are favorable, but damn, $22.5 million? The highest cap hit of any player in the NFL next year? To me, that is just too much. Why not add 500k to every other year and reduce Year 1 by $3 mil? We have to trust the GM, but man, this has the chance to completely blow up in our faces. I don't mind re-signing Jay but this first year cap hit is just too much.
  19. I would say Bowman, Collins, Melton, McCown Wootton, and Scott should be added. Wright if the price is wright.
  20. I really don't know how Eddie freaking Lacy makes the All-Pro team but Forte doesn't? That is a load of crap and makes me dislike GB even more. I hate even thinking this but if Lacy, Rodgers, Nelson, Cobb, or Jones tears an ACL this weekend, I won't feel sorry for any of them. Then Marshall and Jeffery both getting jipped as well. One of them should've made it. I thought Jeffery had a shot since he was neck and neck with Gordon for most of the season. They probably cancelled themselves out, but D. Thomas made it with Decker and Welker. In the end, we had no national support this year (what's new).
  21. The original values are correct, the 2nd set was bogus and more like what someone believed was a better deal. In the end, ever paying Jay Cutler over $20 million in a single season is just plain ridiculous. He has not earned it and based on his historical performance, he never will. Just think about it for a second, would you ever expect Jay Cutler to receive a contract that makes him the highest paid QB in a given season? The highest one!!! Also, right now he is the highest cap hit of any player in the NFL, #1, first, the biggest cap hit, the highest percentage of a team's payroll, Jay Cutler. Someone please justify that. Please...... http://www.spotrac.com/rankings/nfl/2014/cap-hit/limit-25/
  22. Rotoworld has: Again, that is the same as the original posting, and if that is the case, I do not like it at all. He would literally be the highest paid QB in the league next year (based on cap hit): http://overthecap.com/top-player-salaries-...B&Year=2014 which makes me want to vomit. To me, if this is indeed true, and the $22.5 million is accurate, this is a horrible move. There was no need to front load the contract that much over the franchise tag, and handcuff the team in terms of salary cap flexibility when there were numerous alternative plans (which I know most did not like, ie sign McCown, draft WB high, use money elsewhere; use franchise tag).
  23. First 5 years of deal average 16.25, basically the current tag amount for the real part of the deal. This is not bad at all and really helps the cap over the next 2 to 3 years. The only issue is this becomes a 5 yr deal vs a 3 yr deal.
  24. I thought Peppers could be cut after June 1st and then the dead money could be applied to multiple years of the cap to lessen the blow this year. That may be the best option.
  25. This is completely different and if correct is exactly what almost everyone was asking for. It just seems odd because no values equal exactly $54 million. If this is accurate, then those first 3 years are very cap friendly and make more sense based on his performance.
