  1. Oh no, I could care less what baseball team you root for. I have friends that like the Cubs, Sox, Cardinals, and Brewers, yet we all are Bears fans, that is all that really matters. I was just thinking "Hitmen" since this LB corps really fits that label.
  2. That would really throw off the offense.
  3. Why does that matter? I was just using a random Chicago nickname. I wasn't saying that was their name, just that they could end up being a really good LB group. Thanks for the geography lesson though.
  4. If Long didn't go to us, which I am sure teams were watching for after the Pugh selection, I am sure teams would've been trading up to get him in the mid-20's. No way he makes it out of the first.
  5. Mongo, I just think regardless of Peppers, we still have SMC and now Washington. I think Peppers situation is more dependent on the two young guys, if they produce he becomes expendable. So CB and C have to be the top two priorities (2 contracts on aging vets and Garza). Getting a Forte replacement a year or two before Forte breaks down is a good idea. If anywhere, I would put DE in the 2nd tier of needs with WR, TE, and QB.
  6. Did they ever play LB in the same year? I thought Harris moved to DE in 1986 and didn't play in 1985, which was Rivera's first real year. So they never actually played LB at the same time, only 4 of them. I am just saying the potential is there with the mix of veterans and youth to have an incredible year.
  7. I know there are a lot of if's, but if the 2 vets work out, and the rookies play to their potential, could this possibly be the best group of LB's ever? Just seems like I have never seen a team with 5 LB's that could potentially be starters. I am really excited about this bunch.
  8. For me, we are in a great position for next offseason, I think the top priority will be getting a top flight CB so we have some flexibility with Peanut and Jennings. If everyone sticks, then LB is no longer a need IMO, Safety should not be a need (hopefully Hardin can get on the field), and DE should not be a need (SMC and Washington need to perform). Maybe DT as the only other major need on Defense next to Melton (or if he becomes too expensive). For offense, I would say RB (Forte has a lot of mileage) and C will be major needs, WR and possibility TE as minor ones. For QB, it will depend on what happens with Cutler. I would not draft high unless this is his last year. If he is re-signed, I would look to bring So my priority would be (CB, C, RB, DT), then (WR, TE, QB). The best part is we can fill some of these in Free Agency and don't have to fill all of them in the draft. I like how Emery did it this offseason with Bushrod, Slauson, and Bennett, not even counting Williams and Anderson, then filling in the rest of the holes in the draft. As a whole it is hard to say this offseason has not been a huge success.

    Best drafts

The Vikings probably had the best draft overall, the top 3, but also Dawkins in the 7th? That was a good pick as well.
  10. Marquess Wilson sure could use his mentorship.

    Best drafts

I exclude all teams in the top 10 because they are expected to have good picks when they pick early in every round. So out of your list the Bengals and Chargers had great drafts, the others were where they should be.
  12. 10 right now: Jimmy Coy, QB, St. Xavier Michael Ford, RB, LSU Josh Lenz, WR, Iowa St Mark Harrison, WR, Rutgers P.J. Lonergan, C, LSU Brent Russell , DT, Georgia Southern Zach Minter, DT, Montana St Tunde Bakare, LB, Kansas Demontre Hurst, CB, Oklahoma Tress Way, P, Oklahoma
  13. Jordan Rodgers signed by Jags.

He had a 3rd Round Grade.
  15. Didn't even think about that, but you are right, definitely pushes it to an A. Getting rid of Kellen Davis also boosts this draft.
  16. Tyler Bray to Dolphins. Brad Wing to Philly.
  17. 3 behind my list, they suck.

  19. Yeah it averaged out for me as above B+ and below A-, so I went with A-. Sure we have to wait for pads, but getting essentially 5 picks with 3rd round grades or better is really solid, and our 7th round could've been a 4th or 5th rounder.

Absolutely, and man would that be a breath of fresh air.
  21. 1st Round - #20 - Kyle Long, OG, Oregon - Grade: B, I thought this was a little early for Long, but I still love that he is on our team. He is going to bring a little attitude to the line with Slauson. I can see this grade moving up to an A by the end of the season, but right now I will stick with a B because I though a trade down and picking up two players would be better value than just one pick. 2nd Round - #50 - Jon Bostic, LB, Florida - Grade: C+, I felt like this was another reach at #50, but without a 3rd rounder, they didn’t have many other options. I like Bostic, I just felt of all the picks, this one was the biggest reach. For me, it is a C+ as it fills a need, but in terms of value, I just felt trading down was a better option since we didn't do that at #20. If he starts as LB at some point this season, then this grade will go up, but if he is only on Special Teams and as a Sub, then C+ seems about right for pick #50. 4th Round - #117 - Khaseem Greene, LB, Rutgers, Grade: A+, Huge value pick here and fills out the LB need completely after the Bostic pick. This guy was a possible 2nd rounder and was a great pick at #117. This may be the pick of the draft for the Bears. This also provides some insurance if Bostic, Williams, or Anderson don’t work out. It would be nice if Bostic and Greene anchored the LB Corps for the next decade. 5th Round - #163 - Jordan Mills, OT, Louisiana Tech, Grade: A-, Another value pick, Emery redeems himself for the first two rounds with two straight value picks that also fill a need. I love these types of picks. Mills was a 3rd rounder taken in the late 5th. I also like it because we traded down 10 slots to get him and picked up a 7th to boot. 6th Round - #188 - Cornelius Washington, DE, Georgia, Grade: A, Another great selection by Emery. I was not even thinking about DE at this point, but with Wootton in the last year of his contract, and Peppers owed a lot of money, this provides some insurance and competition for SMC. 7th Round - #236 - Marguess Wilson, WR, Washington St., Grade: A-, What is not to like about a late 7th round pick who could easily be a 4th to 5th rounder any other year. Also, this was a free pick after the trade in the 5th, and it fills a need. Hard to argue with that. Overall Grade: A- . This draft really took shape on Day 3, after Day 2 this was a C+ draft (without a 3rd). Taking the rounds off the picks, you gotta love getting Khaseem Greene, Jordan Mills, Cornelius Washington, and Marguess Wilson on Day 3. Emery did a great job addressing needs with very solid players who will contribute early and often. My only negative to the draft is Bostic at #50, I can understand not wanting to lose Long at #20, but I thought Bostic could’ve been had at 60-65, and I was surprised we didn’t drop back there and pick up a 3rd or 4th rounder. If we can address DT, CB, and backup QB, I think we will be going into this season in a lot better shape than last year.
  22. Sort of flew under radar due to how bad team was, but he was highly productive in his career.
  23. 14 career 100-yd games (2x 200 yard games). A really solid career on a bad team. Washington St won 8 games in 3 years and this guy still caught 189 passes for 3,207 yards.

    Picks 6+7

    Yeah, Poyer, Rogers, and Dysert.
