Eagles trade up to take Barkley with first pick in the 4th.
-
How about 3: 1. CB (Poyer or Webb) 2. C (Jones or Schwenke) 3. WR (Patton, Rogers, Swope)
-
Yeah that is the list I used in the other thread, I just tried to take out positions I didn't think we would be looking at to make the list a little more manageable.
-
Just comparing the other 3 teams to us, none of them really reached, and all seemed to fill an immediate need. Almost all of DET or MIN's picks could be on the Bears and no one would be complaining at where they were picked. I really hope Long turns out to be a perennial Pro-Bowler and locks down one slot on our line for the next 10 years.

GB Datone Jones, LB Eddie Lacy, RB 109 (4th) 122 (4th) 146 (5th) 159 (5th) 167 (5th) 173 (6th) 193 (6th) 216 (7th) 232 (7th) MIN Sharrif Floyd, DT Xavier Rhodes, CB Cordarrelle Patterson, WR 120 (4th) 155 (5th) 189 (6th) 213 (7th) 214 (7th) DET Ezekiel Ansah, DE Darius Slay, CB Larry Warford, G 132 (4th) 137 (5th) 171 (6th) 211 (7th) 245 (7th) CHI Kyle Long, OG Jon Bostic, LB 117 (4th) 153 (5th) 188 (6th) Hard to say we are not in last and all the other teams improved more than us at this point. All their picks filled a need and will contribute immediately. After a couple of trades, GB still has 9 picks left, DET and MIN both have 5, and we have 3. Looking at what the Rams and Cowboys to at 18 and 22, hard to argue with what they got (18 for 31 and 74; 22 for 30, 92, and 198). Looking at what GB did makes me sick, they took 55 and traded it for 61 and 173, drafted Lacy at 61, then traded back again at 88 for 93 and 216, then took 93 that they just got and turned that into 109, 146, and 232. So 55 and 88 gave them Lacy, 109, 146, 173, 216, and 232. I can see them taking a bunch of those and moving up or trading for next year's pick (where you normally get a one round premium).

There is very little value in these late round picks, I would rather stay put and pick up 2-3 of the guys listed above vs maybe only 1 or 2.
-
Yeah, I think Jones or Schwenke will both be good picks. Our O-Line would be completely transformed in a few months: Bushrod-Long-Schwenke/Jones-Slauson-Webb/Carimi

Long was going to go in the 20's. Aftter hearing Howie's interview, he said several teams talked to him in that range, and he was expecting him to go by 28. Also, he had slowly risen since the Senior Bowl and combine. With Pugh coming off at 19, there was no way he would even make it to 40. For Bostic, I was not tracking him this high and was surprised to see him taken over Brown, but looking around, some had him rated higher than Teo, so this may be a good value pick. Yeah I hate the Special Teams comments too. You should never mention ST and a 1st or 2nd rounder as a reason for drafting them. I would take Schwenke, Jones, Webb, Poyer, Green, Williams, Patton, Rogers, or Swope in the 5th. One of those guys should be there at 117.
-
That is good for us as they draft a few picks in front of us for each remaining round. Please keep picking these type of guys. Good that they already took a Center, hopefully Schwenke or Jones are there for us at 117.

One thing we the top 2 picks, we are much more athletic and fast.

I don't know if you are talking to yourself or responding to the fact that he was already selected.

At least we are filling holes. Brown goes to Ravens, I will hate to see that work out over Bostic. They talked about Bostic playing special teams and subbing all LB positions. I would rather pick a starter here, but we will see. With no 3rd, that is our only pick today.
-
I didn't realize he was the fastest MLB at the combine, 4.61 40, not bad.
-
wtf man, you need to go play the lottery. Nice guess and pick.
-
Arhtur Brown and Kevin Reddick were both rated higher. Without a 3rd round pick, Bostic was our 2/3rd round pick.

National Football Post:

So Bostic over Brown, another OL, and Taylor and Allen. I don't mind Bostic, I just didn't think he would go that high either.
-
The Bears select: Jon Bostic, LB
