We won 10 last year and this team is better. Just replacing Davis with Bennett is worth 1-2 games, Davis was that bad. 1. We had a horrible line last year and won 10, our line is better and will improve even more after the draft. 2. Bushrod will be better than Webb, and Kromer will be better than Tice 3. Jeffery just needs to stay healthy 4. I don't think McClellin's sack total is going to impact the team win total that much, as long as he improves we will be good. He had a bunch of hurries, and hopefully those will start turning into sacks this year. 5. Every team does, don't see how this is any different this year than any other year. 6. Absolutely, but I like his chances better with Trestman/Kromer than Lovie/Insert OC. 7. He missed one game last year and we won that game? Again, of course health is paramount, but every team has to worry about that. 8. Bennett will surpass Davis' full season production by Week 4 or 5. I don't see Earl Bennett's production being that important, especially with Martellus' added production. 9. Absolutely, but he wasn't last year and we still won 10 games 10. The way this is setting up, it looks like we can basically go BPA and get at least 2 impact players (one being a OG). For me, most of those are not "if's", every team has questions in various positions and injury concerns. Also, we seem to be better off than most teams, especially with depth. Once the interior line hole is filled, it is hard to see any true weaknesses. To me, we are going in the right direction, and from a 10 win season, that would seem to be an 11-12 win campaign.

I would say we are now an 11 to 12 win team. The best part is GB seems to have slipped a little while we have gained. With a good draft we will be right there neck and neck with them. As much leadership that we lost with Urlacher they lost with Woodson and Jennings.

Anderson had a great interview on Sirius today. Totally forgot about the Peppers connection from CAR. I really believe he is going to have a great season.
-
Was it one year for 4 million? If so, I don't think we had the space for that.

"Campbell drops back and throws over the middle to Kellen Davis, the ball is a little high, tipped by Davis, and ooooohhhh, it is Intercepted"
-
It is debatable, I am sure there may be others, but his two season total of 37 receptions and 435 yards, in 32 games averages out to be just over 1 reception a game for 13 yards. That was with 78 targets. They were almost better off throwing the ball out of bounds 78 times, as he caused multiple INTs with his drops.

That is what Ozzie Newsome says, very true.

There is a possibility that some players may have been turned off by how the Bears handled the Urlacher situation, but that seems to be the trend with aging vets. It is more of a business now than it ever has been.

Hilarious. That was really funny. Loved his shirt too, Exercise to Eggs are sides for BACON! Witt Cassel?

Yeah, this is another solid signing/re-signing by Emery. I still think the first two picks are from this pool: (OG, WR, LB, CB).
-
Exactly, the one year Emery got to see Urlacher on the field didn't really leave him with many good memories.
-
He was the worst starting TE of all time. He dropped more passes than he caught, and he is one of the worst pass catching TE's in NFL history.
-
It has to be Emery, since he had a year with Urlacher to decide if he wanted to extend him or re-sign him.
-
I would think something like leadership/locker room/System Knowledge has to play a part in there somewhere.
-
As long as it is from the pool of: (OL, WR, LB, CB). Those are the only 4 positions I can see using a 1st rounder on. They all could come and immediately fill a need or provide youth/depth.

Sure you can ask the right people to get the answers you want, but it does seem like the consensus around the league, from an economic and administrative standpoint, was that the Bears move was justified. With the tight salary cap, they didn't have the freedom to give him anymore money without limiting what they could do elsewhere. Listening to NFL Radio, almost everyone agreed that it was the hard right over the easy wrong. Once you get away from the cloud of loyalty that surrounds a move like this, logic normally arises. Also, nothing was stopping Urlacher from accepting that contract. He ultimately had the choice to return, except for once it was not on his terms. It would be different if they didn't even offer him a contract at all. I thought that the Bears should've offered more, but after picking up Williams and Anderson, I am having second thoughts.

Actually, it will come down to what type of WR's Trestman wants. Bennett might fit the mold perfectly, or he may not fit at all (with the need for speed in the slot). I would take Moore and a rookie slot WR over just Bennett as the #3 with Brown currently penciled in at G.
-
If Urlacher does sign with someone else, it will be for less than the Bears offered him, and probably won't happen until after training camps start. I suspect this will be the same thing with some of the other older vets.
-
Yeah, he had one of the worst seasons ever for a starting TE.
-
That would mean he would need over 125 targets for that many receptions, since he only had 19 receptions on 44 targets last season.
-
I don't know how I missed this, but Kellen Davis was actually signed by the Browns to a 1-year deal. The deal is contingent on him actually catching a pass. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/browns-sign-t...09620--nfl.html

With only 5 picks, I don't know if we can afford to go OT, especially after signing Bushrod.
-
Another possibility is Earl Bennett at $2.35, especially if we are targeting a speedy slot WR in the 1st o 2nd round.
-
Some of those guys will end up on the practice squad. Carimi will move to G, and we will draft one for sure. I would say that we draft an OG and WR on offense. The only other position may be C.
