Damage control now, but man he is looking extremely guilty. He just needs to go on Oprah to confess.
-
Yeah, this is great. Trestman+Kromer+DeCamillis >>>>>>> Lovie+Tice+Toub Toub was the only one holding his own, but DeCamillis has been doing ST for a long time as well.
-
It is being reported that this was a hoax against Te'o. Either way this is crazy. Someone should be locked up for it, either in jail or the loony bin.
-
This is an insanely awesome hire, wow. Kromer and Trestman were both on the Oakland staff from 2001-2003. Didn't even realize the connection at first. Our offense just become lethal.
-
Emery is tied to this hire, so his job is on the line if Trestman struggles to produce better results than Lovie did. and thanks again Brian for the insider info, spot on again.
-
That is assuming he is going to implement the same offense here, which is unlikely due to the size of the field, the number of players, and number of downs. It seems that he just adapted to what worked in that league.
-
Looks like he is heading to KC to be reunited with Reid. To me this also signals that they may already have a new HC selected.
-
I would say every candidate has their pro's and con's. In the same breath you could say Arians and Trestman are the only 2 with HC experience, and Arians and Bevell are the only 2 with recent NFL experience. Trestman is the only one to have worked personally with Cutler, and that Bevell and Arians are both former QB's who can speak from experience at the position. To me, all the candidates are fairly even and any of them will be an upgrade from Lovie.

I have to agree 1000%. Just look at Urlacher's sack totals, not completely related to scheme, but a big part. The defense became so predictable, and I know everyone despised the late game "protect the lead prevent" that just prevented us from winning. Lovie even preached that "we are not going to do any special" and "we are just going to line up and make you beat us". To me that is almost a stubborn approach. Why not play into the strengths of your players within a scheme and exploit the opponents weaknesses?
-
You know, this may come down to who their Coordinator choices are, especially on Offense.
-
Thanks, pinned.

So far Trestman is in the lead, followed by Arians and McCoy. With the announcement of the final 3, we have a good shot of getting this right.
-
Just can't see that with the money already tied up in Marshall and Bennett as well as the limited salary cap after we re-sign current players and possibly OL via FA.

https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/291007364251910144 So Trestman, Bevell, and Arians are the finalists. I would be ok with any of them.

An interesting perspective from a Montreal season ticket holder on Trestman: http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2013/1/14...louettes-season

Yeah, I would trust your source more than 3rd or 4th hand info on the internet. The one fact we can conclude is it will be a current OC or Trestman. To me, I thought it was odd of Trestman to interview for an OC position if he had any indication that he was under strong consideration for our HC position. To me it seems like he was told something on the contrary.
-
Interesting: Looks like it is going to come down to a final two brought back for 2nd interviews from the original 13. So we may know who that is if someone is back at Halas Hall this week. I figure we will know by Thursday, with the official presser on Friday at the latest, so the coach can go to the East West Shrine game on Saturday. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...among-last-four

If coaches we interviewed are interviewing for lesser positions, it hard for me to believe that they have not been already informed that they are no longer being considered for the HC job.

Who said that? It is not all black and white, right and wrong here. Does Cutler have a personality that rubs people the wrong way, absolutely, but that should not take away from what he does on the field. The face of the franchise is normally the best player or the player most associated with that franchise. Megatron is more the face than Stafford, AP more the face than Ponder, etc, etc. What do you mean is he unable or unwilling to behave in a mature way Brady yelling at OC: Manning yelling at Center, but if NFL Network makes light of it, its ok:

Supposed to be Peppers, the table I copied from actually had Peanut on both teams.
-
Yeah, I mentioned a few posts earlier. I can't believe they did not game plan for that. GB might look significantly different next year.

Nice to see some validation for these guys. Melton was the only guy to drop off from the Pro Bowl roster for the Bears. First Team WR Brandon Marshall, Bears CB Charles Tillman, Bears Second Team DE Julius Peppers, Bears CB Tim Jennings, Bears http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100000012...-headline-teams?

That would've been ridiculous. If he called out the fans for booing? I cannot even fathom the backlash that he would've received. They would probably ban him from the game and every Bears fan that doesn't like him would be calling for Sexy Rexy to come back to the Bears and throw some more picks.
