At some point someone needs to be held accountable. I hate being a middle of the road team between 7-9 and 10-6 when we should be perennial contenders in a big market.
-
I know hindsight is 20/20, but after the Oakland game we really should have brought in another QB. Hanie has been in this system as long as Cutler, so there is no way he should be this bad just because of the system. He was clearly not prepared to play and was just sucking up a salary on the sidelines, basically free money. People may ask who, I would have tried any veteran over Hanie. Bulger maybe, and after the KC game, why not try McNabb? It is not like Hanie did anything with a complex playbook, and statistically I believe he is the worst QB to start a game this season. We couldn't get any worse. So strip it down and bring in a vet who knows how to run an offense. Lastly, besides exposing how bad Hanie is, it also shows how good Cutler actually is. I hope he gets more respect and credit now.

There are definitely a lot of failures throughout the game that can affect the outcome, but I think he was saying that the Barber play was probably the biggest in the fact that if he simply stays in bounds, we win. It was an individual mistake that essentially changed the game.

This loss and the KC loss were unacceptable IMO. The Raiders, ok, first game without Cutler, and the Raiders playing good, I can see a loss there. Against KC, a loss is unacceptable regardless of the QB. For this game, our Defense was a perfect fit to stop Tebow and they did until the coaches decided to play prevent, which Tebow is actually good against. Wow, I am so pissed because we are basically out of the playoff hunt with this loss. Atlanta and Detroit are both a game up and the Giants still have to play. Either way, we would have to win out to even have a chance, and I just don't see that happening after this loss.
-
Yeah, that was actually the worst play, that saved them at least 20 seconds and they had no timeouts.
-
You can't turn the ball over in overtime within FG range, and expect to win.
-
I agree, Lovie should be fired, there is absolutely no excuse after the defense locked them down for almost 4 quarters.
-
God that was brutal, we don't deserve to make the playoffs if we can't even beat KC.

This is a huge game for us with DET at NO, ATL at HOU, and NYG vs GB. A win would put us one up vs DET and ATL, we would also have the tiebreaker against both (head to head vs ATL and Conf Record vs DET), and would be two up vs NYG with 4 to play. We technically only have to beat out 2 of those 3 teams to make the playoffs as the #6 seed. Remaining Schedules: DET @ NO vs MIN @ OAK vs SD @ GB at best 9-7 ATL @ HOU @ CAR vs JAX @ NO vs TB at best 10-6 NYG vs GB @ DAL vs WAS @ NYJ vs DAL at best 9-7 The top Wild card slot (#5 seed) is more than likely going to play Dallas as the worst Division winner. SF and NO will be vying for the #2 seed, and the last wild card team will face off with one of them, more than likely SF (#3 seed). As a Wild card team, I like the Bears chances vs either of those two teams (DAL or SF). For the 2nd round we would more than likely get GB. Regardless, we need to get to 10 wins to be guaranteed a slot. 8-4 with 4 to play is a must.

It is worth it to bring him in since we would be down to 2 healthy QBs. He is well-liked in the locker room and handled the Tebow situation with class.

Oakland- Loss: Hanie's first game, and it is in Oakland. KC- Win: Home game vs a bad team. Denver- Win: A tough game playing in Denver, but our LB's can contain Tebow. Seattle- Win: This game can go either way, but I say we win at home. Green Bay- Loss: With Cutler, this is probably an epic game as we try to stop them from going 16-0. In Green Bay. Minnesota- Win: The Vikings are bad. So 4-2, with the Seattle game a possible loss, worst case 3-3. So 11-5 or 10-6 with Hanie.

The D stepped up there, nice stop!!!

The guy has only had one good year, and that year seems to be the anomaly looking at his entire career. Now I guess if you put him up against what we throw out there, it would be an upgrade, but at this point is that upgrade worth a 3rd to 5th round pick. Also, we don't have time to throw to the WR's unless they are doing a WR screen.
-
Even for how bad we are playing, we have some very winnable games. SD, DET, and GB are the only really tough games remaining.
-
I had the Bears at 1-2, so as long as they can rattle off 4 straight wins (CAR, DET, MIN, TB) and go into the Bye at 5-2, I won't mind. Anything less will be a complete failure.
-
Actually Williams made a good move, but Cutler threw too far inside and Williams had no chance.
-
No way, have you seen KC, JAX, or SEA? The Bears are playing like crap, but they are not the worst offense. Martz just needs to go.
-
I would rather have a West Coast offense with the ability to audible. If we fire Martz, that Olsen trade will be even worse. I didn't really like it to begin with and if we go to a traditional offense, we could really have used him.
-
The game plan was crappy, some bad throws by Cutler and some drops as well, but man the refs were crap. Woodson mugs Hester and there is no call, and then the phantom call on the punt return. Both of those are TDs if called properly.

ESPN is all about the ratings. Their picks are more to create buzz and have nothing to do with facts or true analysis.

Here is that prediction from the playoffs: http://www.eugenewei.com/images/misc2007/experts-picks.jpg I say Bears 31-17, and it is another dominate game by the Bears D. The Bears are up 24-7 at the Half and are up 31-10 late. Cutler - 20-28, 270 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT Forte - 22-90 yards, 1 TD Hester - 1 TD Return Hester's return sets the tone in the 1st half. He is due.

With Colston out and Moore hurting, I'm not too worried. Henderson is an average receiver (best season was 09-10 with 51-804) and Meachem has never lived up to the hype. If we can contain Sproles out of the backfield, I think we can win this game fairly easily.

This simulation actually has the Bears winning: http://www.whatifsports.com/beyondtheboxsc...1NFL_Week1Picks

Additionally, contracts come with a performance work statement, and many things are agreed upon. Most of these guys get huge contracts and then just disappear. All they agree upon is price and term. Briggs just needs to play out his contract.

The ratings seem pretty accurate to me for what those guys have done in the past. However, I think all of them have an opportunity exceed those expectations this year. In the end, it looks like we made reasonable improvements across the board, without too many areas getting weaker. QB - Collins vs Enderle (Upgrade by just removing Collins) RB - Wolfe vs Barber, Ta'ufo'ou (Upgrade, especially in short yardage) TE - Olsen/Manu vs Spaeth (Downgrade in receiving, upgrade in blocking) WR - Davis/Aroma vs Williams, Hurd, Sanzenbacher (upgrade) OL - Kruetz, Shaffer vs Carimi, Spencer (loss of leadership, experience, upgrade in ability, youth) DL - Harris, Anderson vs Paea, Gholston, Okoye (upgrade for DT and DE) LB - Tino vs Thomas (wash) DB - Bullocks, Manning vs Conte (downgrade, unless Wright is ready) ST - Maynard vs Podlesh (upgrade) KR/PR - Manning vs ??? Overall I think we are a slightly better team this year, and the players fit the team better. Guys like Spaeth and Barber are not flashy, but they address some glaring weaknesses. The DLine got a lot better, which should take some pressure off the secondary. Podlesh upgrades the Special Teams, though we will have to replace Manning on KO's. I am still concerned about the OLine, and I hope there is improvement in the 2nd year of the same system.
