  1. Can the Pats afford to pay Cassel that kind of money ($14.65 million) and Brady ($14.626 million cap hit in 2009)? That would be over $29 million just for the QB position.
  2. So you tuck your elbow in to show that you intend to lead with your pads? There is no way he can make that determination in a split second. He was running at the play and literally dove head first into McGahee. This wasn't a mid-level hit. I am sure he will be fined for it. At least no one got seriously injured.
  3. It looks like Clark is actually moving upwards when he makes the hit and his arms are not even out like he is trying to make a tackle. The first view from the back of the end zone does look like he was leading with his shoulder, but every other view shows his head leading. Also, McGahee didn't drop his head that much. Seems like a pretty clear helmet to helmet hit. Here are a couple of screenshots in sequence:
  4. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/0...rom-lombardi-5/ I doubt the Bears would sign him if released, and I doubt he would come to the Bears, but I guess you never know.

    Shanahan fired

    Per Rotoworld: Who's next?
  6. Olsen also needs to see more opportunities. I hate it when he only gets 3-4 passes to him all game.

    Kyle Orton

There was a stat out there that we were the only team in the NFL without a pass longer than 30 yards (or something like that). Not yards after catch, but an actual pass longer than 30 yards. That makes it really easy for teams to shut us down and makes Forte's performance that much more amazing. We need a QB that can stretch the field. Orton is great for game management, and he won't lose many games on his own, but he won't win many on his own either. The WR situation clouds my judgment, because it is hard to judge how Orton performed with that sorry excuse for a WR corps.
  8. The problem is the negative side outweighs the positive side 2 to 1. It is actually amazing this team won 9 games. We beat Detroit twice, so we basically played .500 ball all year. Totally disappointed, and the Dallas and Tampa losses just made it worse.
  9. That makes it worse. We were basically given a playoff spot and all we had to do was beat the Texans. Pitiful performance.

    Ouch

Kick at the end was stupid. Why give them a shorter field?
  11. Great. This guy has done absolutely nothing since signing that huge contract.

    Week 1 Pics

Week 1 Pics - Bears at Colts (29 - 13 WIN) Larger pics thru the thumbnails. I will do this weekly.

  14. We are probably the last team that cares about physicals. "Oh just a small herniated disc, not a problem"
  15. In the situation where the Bears were in, could they afford to do this? I don't think so. There were many other options at #14. Chances are, if other teams didn't even have him on their board, he probably could've been had later in the 1st. You don't waste a #14 pick on someone with a pre-existing injury.

    Encouraging

At least our QBs didnt look like this after a preseason game:

The preseason is one of the most misleading periods in football. For the defense, they could've been trying new schemes or packages for the first time and guys were out of position. There can be endless reasons on why some units succeed and others do not in the preseason. I am sure some of the veterans don't want to get injured in meaningless games, so a missed tackle here or there is not that big of a deal as long as they are ready to go in Week 1. There is very little correlation between the preseason and regular season records. I once read an article that showed that 2 preseason wins, on average, produced the best regular season records. NE is 0-3 and the Colts are 1-2. Cleveland is also winless, so take the records for what they are worth.
  18. lol, i don't know why but that last part made me laugh.

    Nice!!

Orton and Davis looked pretty good. Had 2 TD's and should've had 3 if Davis doesn't drop one. O-Line did better than expected. Defense didn't look too hot. Grossman looked brutal. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut. I doubt it will happen, but it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.
  20. Unless Orton has a good season, or Hanie comes in and is solid, you have to draft QB with the 1st pick.
  21. This will be Orton's first true shot with experience. Every other time he was thrown in there (first as a rookie) and for a couple of games last year. He seemed much improved last year compared to 2005. Hopefully he can take another step forward knowing he is going to at least get a fair shot for several games like Grossman did last year - while working with the first team all the time.
  22. That depends on who you ask. I have heard everything from politics to weather.
  23. Clady. Also, most were suggesting to trade down and pick up some picks. Even if you lose some value, you have less of a chance at something like this happening with multiple picks.
