  1. Wasn't' looking like a #1 back? He had 1,375 Total yards from scrimmage that year on a 5-11 team. That is solid production from an RB. He only had one fumble lost that year, and finished the season with back-to-back 100 yard games. Going into the 2005 draft, RB should have been near the bottom for priorities. Especially with the #4 pick. If the draft was strong at RB, then you can normally pick up quality later in the draft. That is actually more of a reason not to draft an RB when that was not a critical need.
  2. I agree. I would love to see what he can do.
  3. I say the Bears trade for some backup that is not even being mentioned. Someone like Carr, he played with Berrian in college, and would probably be an upgrade over anything we currently have.
  4. I wouldn't say any of the picks were completely brutal, it was just some were reaches at the time. If any, the Benson pick was probably the worst. The 4th pick was huge, and the Bears already had TJ, which made the pick even more worthless.
  5. I would like to see at least 2 top draft picks on the OL, with the Bears picking up at least one of the impact FA's on the OL. The OL needs to get younger and faster. All those false starts are because the old guys can't stay in their stance anymore.
  6. Officiating around the league has been a couple notches down this year. It is not just the Bears, but it seems like the Bears have been affected by the calls the most. Last nights game was brutal. The refs were horrible. They catch little fouls like the hold on Wolfe during the Hester runback, and miss an obvious hold on the AP touchdown the play before. It is very frustrating. I would just like to see it even. A hold is a hold.

    Wow

The call would be fine if it supported the personnel in the game. Orton is clearly better over the middle, and McKie is not the best receiver. Turner just needs to go.
  8. I agree. I also think the officiating was brutal. That was one of the worst called games in a long time. The Viqueens had sooo many holds on the line, yet were never called for one. On the AP TD, Brown was completely held, then on the kickoff, Wolfe holds a guy for a split second and he gets a flag. Also, the Desmond Clark hold was so blatant, yet, no call again. It was nice to see the defense show up, but now with us officially eliminated, we need to rest our stars. There is no point in getting someone hurt because you are playing for pride. You don't play to lose, but you definitely can get some new faces in the game to see what they can do. Vasher looked good, and Toeaina stuffed AP twice near the goalline. I would like to see more of him. Urlacher was funny, 2 sacks, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Pass Defended, and 1 Interception.
  9. Wow, 16 straight losses, and #17 is avoided in OT. Now Baltimore has lost 8 straight.

    On D Tackle

Only bad things can happen when you have nothing to play for. Sit Harris and allow him to heal properly.

    Active Qbs

Grossman should be IR'ed and someone needs to be brought up from the Practice Squad.

    Draft needs

I would say the order should be best available from (OL, S, QB) in the first three rounds. For DL and LBs, the Bears have several players like Bazuin and Okwo that are injured, so their health will steer the direction of the draft somewhat. Also, what does everyone think about Grossman. Is he completely done in Chicago? or do the Bears sign him to some sort of incentive laden contract in case they don't get someone in FA or thru the draft? Also, the free agent signings will be huge this offseason for the Bears. If they can get a good mix of veteran FA's and solid draft picks, they will be right back in the thick of the NFC race next year - as long as Turner is not the OC.
  13. $12,500 is ridiculously low considering it broke his leg. I thought these fines were elevated when the player got injured. Also, no suspension?
  14. The offensive scheme next year will also be dependent on who the QB is. I would like to see someone a little more mobile than Grossman and Griese. The playcalling on both sides of the ball has been suspect all year. I never seen a team have successful 1st down runs, then throw 3 straight incompletions, then punt - or - make consecutive passes for 1st downs, then run 3 straight times for 1 yard, then punt. Why not make them stop you first. The Bears have stopped themselves all year. DB mentioned earlier, without the right players, the Cover 2 does not work. I would rather convert to a more conventional system that mixes blitzes, with man-to-man, with zone. Just change it up. Letting Turner go should happen minutes after the season finale.
  15. You are correct. Anderson is the only one as an RFA, but I would still give up a draft pick for him.
  16. I would target some of these UFA's: Derek Anderson - QB (should be #1 target) Michael Turner - RB (change of pace RB) Andre' Davis - WR (dependent on Berrian status) Alan Faneca - OT (need someone like him or Gross, if not both) Jordan Gross - OT Justin Smith - DL (need some consistency on DL) Marcus Trufant - DB (might be too high priced) Ken Hamlin - DB (would rather have him than Arch)
  17. I would at least give Orton one game with the same O-line before making changes. After that though, bring in all the bench players and give them a shot. Who knows, someone may surprise.
  18. Definitely add the subforums for the draft and college football.
  19. I would love Jake Long, but the Bears need to lose out to even have a reasonable shot, even with trading up. Those draft values are huge between top 10 picks.
  20. RME JICO from Soxtalk.com, been at Talkbears.com since the beginning. Nice to see some more life in here. Real Name - Adam Age - 33 Currently residing in El Paso/Ft Bliss, TX
  21. Last year it looked like he had the potential to be a top 10 WR, but he was way too inconsistent this year. He made a few highlight reel catches, but that is about it. He is probably somewhere between 15-20. Those stats include TEs, so he would be slightly higher on stats alone.
  22. These injuries on defense and the lack of offense (no T. Jones) really spells a disappointing season for the Bears. I hate to be so pessimistic but it does not look good right now. That Dante Wesley trade looks pretty ill-advised (hindsight 20/20).
