Asking if 2 out 3 is acceptable after you have already won 2 games is kind of pointless. The NE game is going to be a measuring stick, but definitely not a must win game. If NYG lose tonight the Bears will have a 3 game lead on the entire NFC with head to head tie breaker advantages against (NYG and SEA). After the NE game, the Bears have (MIN, at STL, TB, at DET, and GB) with a combined 17-33 record. The Bears should win all of those games, but it seems like NE will be their last true test. I think they will come out and treat the game like a playoff game. The Bears will clinch a playoff berth with probably one more win, and home field advantage with 2 more wins.

I'm here, I was away from the computer for the game. Overall it looks like the Bears went to an Orton-style offense with Grossman to minimize turnovers. I will take a 10-0 shutout any day. A 10 point win is a 10 point win. Bradley looked really good and when Berrian gets to 100%, the Bears should start using more 3 WR sets with Moose, Bradley, and Berrian. Jones and the running game did a lot better. Just wished they used Benson on some of those goal line plays. O-Line did nice with the run. The Defense did what they needed to do to win. Overall, after the initial lack of running D, they really stepped it up. Grossman, the jury still out on him. They really need to work on the blitz packages, otherwise next week is going to be ugly in NE.

From this article: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility it looks like Hester will start returning kickoffs this week, and may even come in for some offensive plays (Fly pattern, WR Screen) later in the season.

Very close..... Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. After seeing Rex's numbers for his first "full season", I went back and checked on other QB's stats for their first 16 games. Very few QB's excelled that soon, and Rex has had to deal with injuries and new offensive coordinators, etc. So all in all I think he is right on track.

Moose will get 15 yards for next TD celebration

Yeah, Chad Johnson, Joe Horn, and TO really got out of hand. There was nothing wrong with the Ickey Shuffle. -

A High-Five to a teammate is a celebration, a fade-away jumper with the football is using a prop. I don't get it. I can see the excessive celebration, or the taunting celebration, but this seems very petty. -

That's weak. I thought that type of celebration authorized? -
Lovie Extension? First will come Angelo, then Lovie

Great win for the Bears! On the road, bad conditions, playing from behind. Awesome win overall. Glad to see some life in the running game. Bradley looked pretty good as well.

Grossman needs to start against NYG, but if he struggles early and can't get anything going after the half, then Griese needs to get a shot. This is not some sacred situation. Teams do it all the time. Look at Dallas, Bledsoe a seasoned vet was benched after poor performances, and Romo has looked great. The job is Grossman's to lose, but there has to be a point where you actually consider this. Speaking of the Minnesota game, I keep seeing people talk about how Grossman brought the team back for the win, which is true. The funny thing is he was the one who put the Bears behind with that horrible Interception for a TD. For his great start, Grossman is now 14-10 TD-INT and has 3 Fumbles lost. So he is now almost even for TD to Turnover ratio for the season. Unless he plays better, the next few weeks will be ugly (NYG, NYJ, NE, MIN, STL). It seems like he either plays near perfect football or completely horrible football. I would be happy with the middle.

They just need to tune the offense down a little and give Grossman easier decisions. It almost seems like his performance is directly related to the pressure. Even though he says he is fine, I still think he has the injuries in the back of his mind. He is always throwing off the back foot, trying to avoid getting touched. Either way, Griese needs to at least get some consideration this week vs NYG. Why have him on the team if he is never going to get used. Look at Dallas. They took Bledsoe out after some poor performances and Romo is playing great. Griese might not win the game for the Bears, but he is not going to give the other team that many turnovers. Hell, Orton didn't even do that. Let the QB controversy begin........
-
There are a lot of players/coaches to blame for this game, but I thought Griese should have at least gotten a shot in the 2nd half to show what he's got.

The Bears are locking core players in for an extended Super Bowl run. Nice to have some vision again in the Front Office.

I like the Sagarin Ratings from USA Today. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nfl06.htm They use all different kinds of formulas to come up with the rankings. Straight up the top five are: 1. Bears 2. IND 3. NYG 4. BAL 5. NE Using another method called ELO Chess has slightly different rankings: 1. IND 2. Bears 3. NE 4. NYG 5. DEN Finally, Pure Points is the last method: 1. Bears 2. SD 3. DAL 4. NYG 5. JAX The weird thing is the Bears and Giants are the only two teams in the Top 5 of all three methods.

This is all I could find: According to a poll conducted by Sports Illustrated, Owens is the most overrated player in the NFL, earning 10 percent of the vote, 2 percent more than Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, who finished in second place. The S-I poll results came from a survey of 361 NFL players. After Owens and Urlacher came Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis (7 percent), Falcons quarterback Michael Vick (7), quarterbacking Manning brothers Eli (4) and Peyton (4), Panthers receiver Keyshawn Johnson (4), Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (3), Packers cornerback Charles Woodson (3) and Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp (3). The S-I report also noted that Roethlisberger, while receiving only 3 percent of the overall vote, got 10 percent of the vote from players from his own division, the AFC North. S-I reported that in an accompanying poll, players voted Falcons running back Warrick Dunn as the most underrated player (2.7 percent) followed by Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander, Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, Colts receiver Marvin Harrison and Steelers receiver Hines Ward (2.4 each). So the Top 10 looks like: 1. T. Owens 2. B. Urlacher 3. R. Lewis 4. M. Vick 5. E. Manning 6. P. Manning 7. K. Johnson 8. B. Roethlisberger 9. C. Woodson 10. W. Sapp http://msnbc.msn.com/id/15491122/

The Bears are in a great situation with 3 decent RBs in Jones, Benson, and Peterson, but this situation will definitely need to be addressed.
-
I agree. They can label him whatever they want.
-
Mike Brown was an integral part of the Defense and his absence will be felt. He was a leader in the secondary and was still making some big plays. Granted, he was not returning interceptions for TDs this year, but his play was still pretty solid. The Bears record the last couple of years without a healthy Brown shows just how important he is to the Defensive Secondary.
-
You are correct. After that first or even second turnover, they should have stuck with the run and turned it into an Orton-type gameplan.
-
Actually everything I did is very basic. Just have a few layers with the text on the top layer, then every week I update that layer. I use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. For mine I have a black background, then one pic of Urlacher, an orange filter on the left, then the other pics, then the layer with text. I save it as a project so I can edit it, then I save one each week for uploading (which I need to do today).

Some pretty interesting facts and numbers.
-
I hope that had something to do with it, but his decision-making process needs to improve as well, and like CanofCorn said, he needs to stop throwing off his back foot and falling away.
-
I agree, it got a little old when Kornheiser kept saying "but you just said...." to Theisman, and then Theisman would say something like he didn't mean it that way. Geeze. The only thing that became somewhat ironic was when they kept saying "its not over", even though there was a very low probability that the Bears would come back. Barkley is an idiot. He is the worst commentator ever. When he was on TNT for the NBA he would talk about crap that was completely unrelated to the game.
-
It is partly his fault, he is the coach. He calls the plays, etc. They were telegraphing their plays. The announcers were calling the plays everytime. They were playing not to lose. The Bears used to be really good at that, and they lost a lot of those games. A kicker can't make every kick. Yeah, you expect him to make it, but a 40yd field goal is a lot harder than you think. The snap, the hold, the plant foot; if those are not near perfect, then there is a good chance you will miss. I thought as a team, Arizona choked, and the Bears wanted it more. Thats the bottom line.
