  1. I dont understand why you keep saying this. McGowan himself has ended the previous two seasons on the IR, he is by no means any more of a sure thing than Brown is.
  2. Ogy was coming off of a pretty big year and was traded for. Alex Brown was a 4th rounder who pushed his way into the starting lineup, there is a pretty big difference in what each was going to get at that time. Brown was paid pretty nicely for a short term of service. But once again, my argument is not that the contract was huge, it is that Brown is an animal when he is motivated to get paid and not so much when he is already paid. So, do you pay him, or do you let him play out his contract and hope that the holdout threats dont become a reality next year?
  3. At the time when he got paid it was a big deal. He got a lot of that money up front as well, and now he is playing for another contract, which is my point. The guy is a force when he is motivated, how do you keep him motivated?
  4. The thing about Brown is that he is so streaky though. Remember the string of games that got him his current contract? He had huge sack game against the Bills or Giants(4 or 5 sacks in a game) which followed a couple of other games with a few sacks, and the next week he had a huge contract and we never saw that kind of production again until the end of this year. Im not saying I dont like him, because I do, Im just afraid we might see the "paid" version of alex brown which isnt quite as productive as the "wants to get paid" alex brown.
  5. LOL, gameday just said that Kyle Orton was sacked by Jason McKie I just think it is something that isnt really necassary to talk about much anymore, this is Ortons 3rd year in the league, and Brees has been around for what, 5 years now? Im sure it is mentioned in passing, but not made out to be a big deal like it would have been if Orton was a rookie
  6. you forgot the headshake smily I like Rex out of all of the QBs right now the most considering potential and skill, but there is no way in heck that any QB on this roster should be handed the job without winning it in a competition next year, barring trading for a pro bowl QB. If Rex and Orton both competed for a job next year and Orton won, I wouldnt be upset at all.
  7. Do you know what potential means? By no means did he say he wants him as the guaranteed starter. Potential is the key word here Dont you have a signature to complain about somewhere?
  8. Our special teams must be doing awful(im "watching" the game on ESPN gamecast, so I am admittedly out of the loop), because the Saints starting field position looks like it has been between the 35 and 40 yard line for the Saints every time.
  9. I believe that play is titled in the playbook "TryingToKeepMyJob LEFT, Swing out Z reciever onanewcontracthopefully"

    Inactives

I wonder why McGlover is inactive? He blocked a punt last week, had some nice special teams moments
  11. backup in case of multiple injuries to WRs. Thats the only thing I can think of
  12. Who cares that the Lions suck at INTs? Did it ever occur to you that some of those INTs are directly related to the fact that the Lions throw too much and dont run the ball enough? Martz has more than one time buried Kevin jones on the bench and completely neglected the run game altogether, which is pretty much what got him fired in St Louis. The OC calls the plays, he is responsible for the results, go ahead and evaluate that.
  13. Well, KITNA! has also averaged 19 interceptions in the last two years as well, so he does plenty of throwing the ball around. Who cares? Nothing they are doing offensively has transformed this team into a contender
  14. The piece that Martz needs to become a genius again is a healthy Marshall Faulk. That is the one cog that Martz will never have again, and he will probably never be able to run the greatest show on turf again because he doesnt have a RB who can also lineup as a WR and block like a lineman like Faulk could.
  15. Can you prove that the video that they took overwhelmingly changed the score of the game in the Patriots favor so much that they won the game because of it? Maybe baseball teams should start forfeiting games for stealing signs as well.
  16. How can you say that when Martz hasnt been able to maximize three first round top ten Wide reciever picks as it is? Why are Berrian and Bradley going to succeed when Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams havent even been able to scratch the surface of thier own potential? And add to that the fact that the Lions are at the bottom of the league in rushing and interceptions, I dont see how Martz would be someone that would interest the bears at all given their current deficiencies in running and problems with interceptions as it is.
  17. Martz would run himself right out of Chicago with his lack of attention to the run game. I doubt Lovie would make this move.
  18. oops, u before a in guaranteed
  19. No contract is gauranteed so concievably anyone could be cut, but It isnt reality, so go ahead and do it however you want to do it.
  20. here is a little bit of a different take on assessing the current team and moving forward. Here is the 53 man roster, go through it as if you were a gm and decide who you think should stay, and who you think should go, and why. The idea is not to tell us who you would replace them with, but rather why you think they should no longer take up a roster spot. 95 Adams, Anthony* NT 97 Anderson, Mark* DE 20 Archuleta, Adam SS 94 Ayanbadejo, Brendon LB 73 Bazuin, Dan* DE 67 Beekman, Josh G 32 Benson, Cedric* RB 80 Berrian, Bernard WR 16 Bradley, Mark WR 55 Briggs, Lance OLB 96 Brown, Alex DE 30 Brown, Mike* 74 Brown, Ruben* 88 Clark, Desmond TE 81 Davis, Rashied WR 98 Dvoracek, Dusty* DT 90 Garay, Antonio* DE 63 Garza, Roberto G 43 Gattis, Josh SAF 85 Gilmore, John TE 9 Gould, Robbie K 21 Graham, Corey CB 14 Griese, Brian QB 8 Grossman, Rex QB 91 Harris, Tommie DT 83 Hass, Mike WR 23 Hester, Devin WR 92 Hillenmeyer, Hunter OLB 71 Idonije, Israel DE 35 Jimoh, Ade* DB 72 Kennedy, Jimmy DT 57 Kreutz, Olin C 65 Mannelly, Patrick LS 38 Manning, Danieal FS 24 Manning, Ricky DB 4 Maynard, Brad P 26 McBride, Trumaine CB 58 McClover, Darrell LB 36 McGowan, Brandon SS 37 McKie, Jason FB 60 Metcalf, Terrence G 69 Miller, Fred T 87 Muhammad, Muhsin WR 68 Oakley, Anthony G 93 Ogunleye, Adewale DE 53 Okwo, Michael* LB 82 Olsen, Greg TE 18 Orton, Kyle QB 70 Oshinowo, Baba DT 44 Payne, Kevin* FS 29 Peterson, Adrian RB 39 Polite, Lousaka RB 53 Roach, Nick LB Runnels, J.D.* RB 78 St. Clair, John T 76 Tait, John T 33 Tillman, Charles CB 75 Toeaina, Matt DT 54 Urlacher, Brian MLB 31 Vasher, Nathan CB 99 Walker, Darwin NT 52 Williams, Jamar LB 59 Wilson, Rod LB 25 Wolfe, Garrett RB * Player on Injured Reserve
  21. If he plays, there is an outside chance he may be a Bear next year. If he doesnt suit up, He Gawn.
  22. I also thought the shot about being a sox fan was unwarranted(and uninformed) in this conversation.
  23. I wouldnt put it past Lovie to do that, it paid big dividends when he did that with Aeneas Williams on the Rams. And I think Tillman would probably be a pretty good safety, his cover skills are usually pretty solid, and he is already a ballhawk, imagine if Tillman could look over the entire field? But not until we see his skills start to decline, because I really like him at corner.
  24. im pretty sure last year if you looked at the run stats from before Brown went out compared to after he got hurt, the difference was staggering. Of course, Tommie Harris figured into that as well
