LOL!! Bears4Ever, meet NUKE, the foulest mouthed fan/braggart you love to hate and love to have on your side. This is pretty par for the course, back when Soxtalk had a less stringent swearing policy NUKE would lead the charge after every Sox win with a stream of vitriol and cheer that would shame Andrew Dice Clay. I would like to repost this as many times as possible Dear ESPN and SI.com "experts", F*** YOU. See You in Miami. Sincerely, The Chicago Bears and The Chicago Bears fans. -

Right now there are a whole bunch of unamerican mofo's partying in Chicago. That was quite the spanking, Mark Anderson was downright unstoppable at times, he was in Brees face at all times. -

That is exactly what i was telling my buddy yesterday, Deuce is the one to be worried about. He is a straight ahead, downhill runner who is especially good at slipping tackles and gaining extra yards after the initial hit. Im not saying Bush is chopped liver, but this game doesnt play to his strengths. Bush likes to go side to side and make cuts all over the place, and the Bears defense is one of the fastest in the league, and lets not forget about the turf. The Bears are going to have to contain Drew Brees and his young wide recievers, and then dominate the run to keep the Saints at bay. The only way I am going to get really worried is if Joe Horn can somehow play, because he is a difference maker. SI Writers Picks ESPN Writers Picks the Bears couldnt have more bulletin board/back to the wall material if they tried. Holy crap we suck for having the best record of all the teams left in the playoffs -

Some douchebag called the score the other day with a "reality check" and said that if the Bears make the Superbowl and win it, it wont be because of how good they are, it will be because of how bad the rest of the NFL is. Great fan, nothing but positivity shining from Chicago nowadays. -
Then DrunkBomber needs to learn the international color of sarcasm.

AND THATS A BEARS PLAYOFF WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the Bears saw something on film that showed that the Seahawks are more of an outside team when it comes to rushing, and conversely maybe the Seahawks noticed the Bears are tough to beat on the outside because of their team speed? The 10 yard runs up the middle on first down cannot be tolerated in the playoffs, it has to stop. And I totally agree about Danielle Manning, he looks completely lost out there recently. -

Its kind of like Yankees vs Red Sox, episode 11,771,298, isnt it? I couldnt agree more, the Networks have too much of a say on what happens, and it is dissapointing. Im happy that there are no New York teams left in the playoffs, because they get tons of unwarranted pub. -

No, it really doesnt make sense to run the basis of your defense only 20 percent of the time. Running the same play everytime is not the same as running the same defensive scheme. And it doesnt make sense to whomever was giving the interview to actually tell ESPN the magazine the true percentage of times they run a certain defense. They are all poker players trying to hide their hand, and the media (most of the time) are just unwitting pawns who are occasionally thrown a bone. Besides, how often can you think of the Bears running defenses outside of the cover 2? Do you see the 4-3, 3-4, 46 defense out there very often? Even when they change the defense, the philosophy of staying in the cover 2 gap stays the same, thats what they teach. How many times have you heard interviews of the defense where they talk about staying in their gaps? (I know I hear it alot when I listen to Bears weekly with Zach Zaidman, Doug Buffone, Ed O'Bradovich, Hub Arkush, and Lawrence Holmes on the way home. Thats all the defensive players talk about) -
Hardly. But Im not going to get into this argument anymore, it isnt worth it. You guys want a scapegoat for whatever reason, and everyone picked Peanut because of one bad game. If you want to know how bad it could be, just rewind to when Vasher was starting on the #1 and Manning Jr was in Vashers place. Remember watching Roy Williams catch everything and run through Vasher? I certainly do. Remember watching Manning chase down pretty much everyone from behind? I certainly do. Check the starting CBs #s vs the Packers and vs the Seahawks. The difference is pretty big. the result as well.

ESPN the magazine doesnt really know anything. Tillman didnt have any messups as far as I was concerned, he didnt give up any touchdowns and had no penalties. The messups came on the 10 yard gashes that Alexander kept ripping off with no one touching him. Is Joe Horn even playing? I thought he has been hurt for the past 6 weeks or something, I didnt even remember him playing in the Eagles game. -

Actually Tillman filled his gaps perfectly, Harris and Manning werent closing the coverage in their gaps. Tillman and Vasher arent supposed to cover man, they are in Cover 2. Plus, when Seattle was getting the big gains on the ground, it has to do with the front 4 not getting the penetration up front. The entire defense is predicated on the front 4 getting pressure, and that has been reduced considerably with the absence of Harris in the middle. You can hate on Tillman all you want because of last year vs smith, but he has had a fantastic year and he had a pretty good playoff game. Urlacher was getting double teamed by fullbacks and lineman, and every time they were rushing up the gap normally occupied by Tommie Harris. great game by Grossman, he showed some guts out there in a semi-hostile crowd(which is unfortunate because it is his hometown). Im looking forward to the game vs the Saints, should be good. -

I hate when Im right. The bears need field turf before they lose anyone else to injury, this "field" is going to get someone else this game. Its pathetic -

LOL, how do you wash water off of a field? -
Well, the points are now moot. John Shoop has accepted the Offensive Coordinator position under Butch Davis at North Carolina.
-
If he has learned to adapt, then he may turn out to be ok. His unwillingness to budge on a gameplan was one of the things that this Bears fan couldnt stand. I remember he would script the first 15-20 plays of the game and would not stray from it whatsoever. How you go that far into the game without identifying a weakness to exploit and attacking it was beyond me. And 15-20 plays into the game could have lasted all the way until halftime sometimes. He was 3 and out far too much, it was just brutal. I wont hang the Kordell Stewart experiment on him completely because it was a total and complete mismatch of offensive styles, but he didnt do anything to play to Kordells strengths and tried to fit the square peg in the circle hole. I just dont think the guy is anything more than a QB coach, and thats about it.

NFC Divisional Playoffs: Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears
kyyle23 replied to WHarris1's topic in Soldier Field
I dont agree with the assessment that this situation is similar to last year. Last year we didnt blow out Carolina during the season, we beat them 13-3 with a pounding defense. Then when the playoffs rolled around, Carolina was starting to roll, and they just came off an emotional playoff victory, and the bears defense laid an egg. The Seahawks have not had the greatest year this year, and they got into the playoffs because they share a division with the 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals, not exactly stiff competition. I commend them for beating the Cowboys, but the Cowboys imploded. With Alexander in the lineup, they are 3-4, and only 1-3 in the last 4 games(not including the playoff game). They limped into the playoffs after losing to the Cardinals, 49ers, and Chargers, and beating tampa to clinch the division in the last game. The Bears have shown that they can hang some points on the Seahawks, but their defense has completely regressed since week 4. I agree with balta, if they control Alexander, they should win this game. But this game doesnt give me the same uncertain feeling that Carolina gave me last year. Plus, Darrell Jackson is probably out(and if he plays he wont be 100 percent), DJ Hackett was hurt in their last playoff game, Alexander hasnt shown that he is completely recovered yet. This team doesnt have a Steve Smith thats gonna blow us out of the water by himself. -
Shoop didnt have the offensive coordinator title all year, so you cannot blame him for the entire year. However, his offensive atrocities were shown in detail while he was in chicago, so to hand him the reigns is just unbelievable to me

How far could Griese take us realistically?
kyyle23 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
Yeah, I bet you could take a game away from Grossman and his numbers would look much better too. The thing is, you cant. And the Bears were losing plenty of field position with Orton back there, because they werent moving the chains. -

I apologize for putting words in your mouth. Bearsox started with the idea of putting Orton in as starter and you posted about Orton becoming a good starter, and I clearly mistook what you were saying. Im not trying to throw Orton under the Bus, but I honestly think that Grossman is gonna be the better quarterback of the two. I am just as apprehensive about the playoffs as you, but the idea of a quarterback controversy going into the first playoff game makes me sick. its a media invention this year, and people bought into it. -

kyyle23 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
You dont? Go ahead and look at this schedule 2005 Schedule and tell me which games that Orton could have won by the strength of his numbers alone. Then compare it to how many Grossman won this year without having to have the defense bail him out. Oh yeah, Ben Roehtlisburger got 10 wins too so that means Kyle Orton must be the next Ben Roethlisburger. Greenbay cannot be dismissed wah wah. Do you always judge the player by the last game he played? Is it reasonable for you to look at the body of work over the individual game? If you want to look at the last game against Greenbay as such an offense, then why dont you look at the first game against Greenbay? Or maybe the game against the Seahawks? I mean, if you can just look at the bad games (Arizona and Greenbay, which you consistently point out) then why dont you want to look at the good games? Is 13 wins not good enough for you? 10 wins is good because a rookie did it, but 13 wins isnt good because a 4 year pro did it in his first full year as quarterback? I know i know, Rex didnt prove it last week, so that means he must be benched. If thats the case, then John Tait certainly didnt prove it last week either, and he got consistently beat and had some costly penalties. He needs to be benched right away for someone who hasnt played all year. Is Gandy still on the team? I will tell you what I dont understand. Consistent doubts about a quarterback who has been better than anything this town has seen in DECADES. Everyone loves the backup, and it doesnt make sense, because the starter is finally a player. And his "history of injuries"" isnt a indicator that he is injury prone, every one of those injuries was a fluke. And last but not least, the word is dominant, not dominate. Sorry, you have said it more than once and it has been bugging me. -
How far could Griese take us realistically?
kyyle23 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
Yeah, and Grossman did it in his first full year as a pro. Once again, what is your point? You want to point out that Orton "managed" to get 10 wins. Lets not forget that we the defense was a huge part of Ortons wins. Grossman won plenty of games by himself this year, and yes, he had some truly awful games. But there was no point in Ortons starts that I thought he looked anywhere near the quarterback that Rex is. And you are right, this could change, but Rex has the experience behind him right now, and to just throw Orton to the wolves is just foolish. -
