  1. Its not supposedly, it is leaps and bounds better. You saw it, during those first six games when you werent saying a word about Grossmans performance or Spurriers culpability. Its there, we all know he has the ability.
  2. fixed that for you I think the best course of action would be a group gathering tailgate party. If a group attempted to go to a game, someone would have to coordinate, and thats the toughest part. How many tickets should be purchased? Can they all be purchased together(heck no)? What happens if someone backs out? Is there any pre-game activities? We could pick a sports bar/resteraunt and meet up, or someone could offer up their house for a party(not likely), but actually getting a group together for a game is extremely tough.
  3. Your arguments are hilarious. When you were coaching? Right. I was coaching too. My gamecube has one heck of a Madden coaching simulator. Like I said, I am not arguing that Grossman is sucking right now, because he is. I see it just like you do. But I am not going to hang it on Spurrier, because that is just childish. If Spurrier was coaching him now, then sure. Turner, Smith and Wilson need some of the blame, but most of it falls on Rex and his decision making which has been quite poor. But Bloodlines and College coaches? Plain ridiculous. People dont praise the Tennessee Volunteer head coach every time Peyton Manning throws a touchdown, and they dont rip him every time Manning throws an interception. Tony Romos Eastern illinois head coach isnt being prepared as the second coming of Knute Rockne because Romo is all of the sudden starting and performing well. One has nothing to do with the other. Sometimes players come out of college with no pedigree and no football background at the school and become incredible players (Walter Payton comes to mind) and some players have all of the talents, hype and ability in the world and become nothing(Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Cade McNown). The player ultimately decides the performance. And the difference between Shane Mathews, Danny Wuerffel, Jesse Palmer, and Rex Grossman is in the arm. Rex has a cannon, the rest of the Florida QBs are known to be sub-par arms. This is why Rex was drafted in the first round, he has all of the tools.
  4. Oh now I get it. Griese has solid bloodlines so that gives him an automatic plus. Now that your warm weather excuse is shown to be shallow and not thought out, you move on to who his daddy was. And blaming Spurrier is just hilarious, as if Spurrier failing in Washington has ANYTHING to do with what Rex is doing now. So does Spurrier get the credit for earlier in the year when Rex was succeeding and his QB rating was over 100? Were you saying to yourself "Wow, Spurrier did such a great job with this kid" when Grossman opened up the season 5-0? Of course not. Your arguments pretty much ramble from this side to that and have no coherent reason why you dont like Grossman. Look, if you want to point out how Grossmans TD to INT ratio has declined dramatically in the past 6 weeks, fine. If you want to point out how his mechanics have become a mess and that he has been throwing off of his back foot pretty much for the past 6 weeks, fine. If you want to point out that he hasnt dealt with pressure very well since the Arizona game, fine. But you arent, you are drawing completely inane and unreasonable conclusion why Grossman is bad. All you want to do is blame other people for why Grossman is doing bad and why Griese didnt do well(it was all elways fault). And on a side note, Neal Anderson had a pretty damn good couple of seasons after Walter left, it was not anything remotely close to what happened with Griese. Griese got drunk and hurt himself, blamed his dogs, got benched, got traded, got benched again, and then got one more chance in Tampa when Brad Johnson got hurt. And then Griese blew out his knee yet again. He is far from the golden child you think his "bloodlines" make him out to be. 1 + 1 doesnt equal Apple, ok?
  5. So the Florida sun has changed a kid who grew up in Indiana? I love how you always blame Spurrier and Florida, and then make some sort of lame connection with Tampa teams and how they play poorly in the cold as well. Does that mean that Griese is going to suck, since his last really good year was in Tampa? I mean, Griese spent a year in Miami, 2 years in Tampa, which is exactly how long Grossman spent in Florida(3 years), so technically by your definition Brian Griese is not capable to throw in cold weather either since the "Florida sun prevents him from doing anything". Clearly being in the Florida sun prevents anyone from being good.
  6. How could Grossman be using Smith as a scapegoat if Darren Sharper is calling Grossman out? Dwight Smith can smack Grossman in the helmet and talk smack to him after Grossman throws a pick/TD return, but Grossman cannot talk smack back to him when he throws a game winning touchdown? Do you see how hypocritical that is? And then for Sharper to bring this up 7 weeks later like it just happened? Why didnt Sharper say anythign after the game? The week after the game? Why is he acting like this is the worst thing he has ever heard? Last question is this: How can you call yourself a Bears fan when you are siding with two Viqueens DBs against your own QB?
  7. What a catastrophe that would be. Oh my god that would be the biggest clusterf*** in the world if something like that happened. You would basically be telling your team that you dont trust Grossman, and then if Griese sucked it up you would be putting Grossman back in? What is the team(and Grossman, for that matter) supposed to think then? Talk about a confidence buster, and a good shot at losing the team as well.
  8. 9. Pretty much right here. Can you explain how you know that Griese is the polar opposite of Grossman and he could lead to fewer turnovers. Seems like quite the oxymoronic statement, on one hand you are saying you have no clue how he will do and on the other hand you are saying he is polar opposite of Grossman and he just might lead to fewer turnovers. Which is it? You know he will be better or you dont? There is a good reason Griese is a 4 team journeyman in the league. He fizzled out and was ushered out of Denver, never was a blip on the screen in Miami, had a nice revival in Tampa where he blew out his knee, and now he is a backup in Chicago. What indicates to anyone that this guy is the one who will take the Bears to the Superbowl? His pedigree? His glittering playoff record of 0-1? There is no denying Grossman had a horrible game. But it wasnt as if he was playing a junior varsity team. Bill Belichek has had the Patriots in contention for a title every year for the past 5 years, and there has been more than one magnificent quarterback(Peyton Manning, anyone?) who has been confused by his schemes and picked apart by less than average Patriot secondaries. Im not happy with the outcome of this game because the Bears had just as many chances to take the lead on the Patriots and had some breakdowns that are generally the mark of young teams or players. But get off the "its someone elses turn, i dont care who" bandwagon. Has anyone suffered a concussion or broken jaw from all of these kneejerks? This was no blowout, it was one hell of a game.
  10. As of now it has been moved from a Noon start to a 3:15 start with flex scheduling, I havent heard that it has been moved to Sunday night as of yet. And I hope it doesnt, I absolutely loathe waiting all Sunday to watch the game, even moreso waiting until Monday night.
  11. I guess you could look at it that way, but like I said in my first post I am wondering how much weight is put on this game vs the games vs the Giants and Jets. Is the important game of this roadtrip vs the NFC Rival(Giants) or is the important game vs regular title contenders(The Patriots)? Its just a testing of the water, so to speak.
  12. I do believe you meant to say "You Play......To win the Game!"
  13. I would like to add that I do not find losing acceptable, but I can understand losing to the Patriots in Foxboro. But like I said earlier, this isnt the Superbowl Patriots of yesteryear. They have had some injuries(their entire secondary), and have lost some key contributors(Branch, Patten, Viniateri), so I think this game is definitely winnable.
  14. Im just curious about the percieved weight of importance that people are placing on the game vs the Patriots. Personally, I dont think this is the same dominating Patriots we are used to, although I do feel they will give the Bears a tough game(but that is mostly due to the fact that this is a road game).
  15. This is the reason I dont reply during the game.
  16. I dont know about that. New England is missing almost its entire starting secondary http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2667653
  17. Hall was playing slot reciever during his breakout/contract year. http://www.profootball-reference.com/players/HallDa00.htm He wasnt a one trick pony at the time. Hester does one thing, he returns punts(and kicks soon). Dante could at least say that he was part of the offense at the time he signed his contract. Personally, I want Hester to become a WR, I think it is the best way to maximize his skills and strengths. I guess we will see what he does though
  18. If he can take a hit from a special teams unit returning a punt or a kick, Im sure he can take a hit from a safety or DB. Punt returners put themselves out there just as much as a WR going over the middle, they get walloped as much as the next guy. The problem is that Hester views himself as a DB, he doesnt really want to be a WR. He will learn where his bread is buttered though, especially when he wants to get paid. Teams dont pay big bucks for punt/kick returners when that is the only thing they do. Hester isnt really a good DB at all, so he isnt gonna make his money there. He doesnt really have many options, so he better learn to catch a slant pattern.
  19. Crow goes quite well with humble pie, but i doubt you will try either. How do you figure Grossman was doing well at the end of the first half? They were losing by 3, which was only because TJ had an incredible 26 yard gain on a 3rd and 22 and Grossman threw a pretty bomb to Bradley in the final 2 minutes. Other than that, Rex was pretty awful in the first half. I agree with SS2K5, if you had your way Rex wouldnt have even played in the second half. I bet you were screaming at the TV for Lovie to pull the plug. But then again, this is the same guy that thinks 2 bad games out of 9 means you are a bad QB. Steve Spurrier needs to be congradulated on how well Grossman did on Sunday.
  20. agreed. This is the second game this season that Rex has come back on teams. Regardless of the fact that the defense gave Rex the ball in the Minnesota game, Rex still had to throw that pass to Davis to win the game. You can bitch and whine all day long that you dont like Rex because he is short, injured a few times, and has had some bad games in the past 4 weeks, but he still has a 8-1 record this year and it is largely because Rex has had some phenomenal games as well. You play who you have on your schedule. It isnt the Bears fault that the NFC North decided to suck this year.
  21. Wow, I think David Cutcliffe should be fired from wherever he is right now because Eli Mannings mechanics were so bad last night. For that matter, Ed Orgeron should be fired for being the Head Coach at Ole Miss too. On the Subject of Tom Brady and his two game losing streak, this is absolutely intolerable. The following people should be fired and/or reprimanded and/or banned from life from all forms of professional football: Charlie Weis Bill Belichek Lloyd Carr Eric Mangini Tom Bradys Pee Wee Coach Tom Bradys High School Coach furthermore, Rex Grossman has shown to us all that in his two bad games he has proved that his six good games this year are all flukes, and for that reason we should bench him, fire Ron Turner, start Brian Griese or Kyle Orton(lord knows they are both superior, since they have never screwed up ever, and both of them have led their teams to perfect 19-0 seasons in which they threw for 5000 yards and 55 touchdowns each), and hire someone like Charlie Weis for OC since he is to be fired for his Tom Brady coaching mistakes. The knee jerk reaction is finished. Did I miss anything?
  22. I like Jaws and Tom Jackson, but I think Merrill Hodge is a Steelers shrill and he is a bigtime hater, it takes a whole bunch for him to admit he is wrong.
  23. On ESPN NFL Countdown this morning, there was a segment "Who is the best team in the NFC", Mike Ditka sitting across from Michael Irvin. Obviously Ditka was taking the Bears and Irvin was taking the Cowboys. Here is their exchange: Irvin = pwned by Da Coach It was short, but Ditka was 1 second away from completely pwning Irvin when they cut back to the rest of the cast. Irvin was actually suggesting that T.O. was going to beat the Bears all by himself.
