  1. Sorry, but I have a hard time feeling to sorry for them as they take their IQ to the bank.

I understand how the process works. Im just saying its easy to pick these people apart based on a recent "iq" test applied to the players. I cant even imagine if I was applyign for a job and the people standing behind me are snickering "Look what he got. Im gonna get paid so much more"

Im not saying i want to change the system, its just a brutal system

  2. I posted on another board that I thought this was more about putting Rosenhaus in his place. To me, it's odd that NOBODY bit on Briggs, who was suposedly the TOP FA available yet after that Bears sign him for 36M with 13M guaranteed, a guy like Pace comes along and gets 42M with 22M guaranteed? Now, call me a conspiracist if you want but I believe alot of people from the NFL were pissed at Rosenhaus for parading Briggs around at the Owners meetings last year and maybe, just maybe they decided to teach Rosenhaus a lesson. What better way to do that than give a guy like Briggs much less than he expected.

As far as SF goes, maybe they also got wind that Rosenhaus was doing things in his dealings with SF that he shouldn't. Hey, I don't care what happens, but even if this is more about SF trying to work something out behind our backs or not being forthright in their dealings with us, if we get some kinda compensation pick, Im good. I do like the conspiracy theories though. They're alot more fun.

Isnt this a form of collusion?

  3. Kevin Jones and his shredded knee can go elsewhere if you ask me. Darrell Jackson would be a nice addition.

And if Bradley or Hester beats out Lloyd, he could still be cut before the season starts. Maybe the same could be applied to Darrell Jackson

  4. Who was assigned the draft picks that NE lost because of the Spygate scandal? The Bears werent really "harmed" because of the tampering, it just pissed them off. They still retained the player who was tampered with, so i dont see how they could end up with additional picks

  5. What exactly did the 49ers do? The way I understood it, over last years offseason Lance Briggs and his big mouth(otherwise known as Drew Rosenhaus) talked to anyone who would listen about engineering a trade somewhere far away from Chicago. Did the 49ers initiate talks with Rosenhaus? did they call Briggs exclusively? I guess I dont understand how the Redskins can have a deal on the table ready to trade for Briggs and that is fine, but the 49ers are getting laid out flat for tampering.

  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3295344

The Atlanta Falcons have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, according to a source close to the Falcons.

I wonder how Hall will feel going from one bottom feeder to another. I dont imagine he will remain quiet for long.

  7. You know what is going to be really sad about this competition? If rex actually proves that he is better and wins the job, nobody is going to accept that he won the job. they are going to say he was handed the job again and nobody will accept that he won the job.

I want the better QB to win the job, plain and simple. I think that QB is Rex, but if Orton wins I wont be unhappy about it. But I can hear the complaining already, the headlines are ready to be printed.

  8. Because he had the best offensive line ever assembled since probably the Dallas Cowboys during their big run. What does Alexaner do besides run out of bounds?

I remember the running back who ran behind that Dallas offensive line, and was known for running out of bounds and scoring touchdowns. Gained a lot of yards too. In fact, he passed our beloved Walter Payton.

Just because your team has a good offensive line doesnt mean the back is overrated. Unless you think Adrian Peterson is overrated. Or Jamal Lewis with the Ravens. Or Terrell Davis. Or anybody not named Barry Sanders in the past 20 years.

  9. He won that award running behind an O-Line with Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson in it.

So? Adrian Peterson has one of the best lines in the NFL to run behind, that doesnt mean that he is less of a runner or didnt deserve to be the offensive rookie of the year.

Most good running backs have a good line. It isnt as if he is a one dimensional back, he can catch out of the backfield and he isnt all that bad of a blocker as well.

  10. I actually do have a problem with him playing special teams. His second biggest problem (behind his coverage skills......waaaaay behind his cover skills) is the fact that he cannot wrap a guy up because he always tries for the big hit. we are counting on him flying down the field and making a solid tackle, and I just dont know that he can do that.

  11. and let it stay that way. Shaun Alexander is (or atleast was) the most overrated football player in the league, IMO he is worse than Cedric Benson. DONT PICK HIM UP JERRY!

Please explain how a former MVP was the most overrated player in the league

  12. Hey its not my fault most of you can continuously accept mediocrity :chair

Ah yes, we all accept mediocrity because we dont make Chicken Little/Drama Queen threads every 3rd day regarding the Bears.

Please, take your drama to the Jags board. By all means.

  13. If they did that, Terra would never be able to post again

Terra is a Jaguars fan now, so we dont have to worry about him anymore anyways. He can bring his infectious smile, engaging personality, optimistic attitude to the Jacksonville faithful.

    He will be sorely missed

  14. wow, angelo never ceases to amaze me. I mean seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel. I bet our coaches wanna hang themselves.

Anyway, after we waste our Top 15 pick on a lineman, i will be joining the Jaguars board.

  15. this is www.jaythejoke.com take on Jays column this morning. Read this like you are watching the Geico commercials with Celebrity guests

Tyrone Briggs is a real die hard fan of the Chicago Bears, not a sports columnist.

So, to help tell his story, we hired that bobble head from Around the Horn.

TB: Jerry Angelo is working hard right now to try and improve the Bears’ offense for next season.

JM: Five days into free agency, I still don’t see a quarterback, a wide receiver, a running back or a protective front, though I do see a kicker angling for a contract extension because touchdowns will be pipedreams. I am not joking when I say tickets should be half-price, nor am I yanking your chain in suggesting they’ll never move the chains.

TB: It would have been nice to have a wide receiver with Randy Moss’ talent.

JM: Rather than throw money at Randy Moss when he was briefly available, they left you with just two wide receivers who have caught balls in the league. Can we petition the commissioner and ask if every down can be a kickoff, knowing Devin Hester has a much better chance of busting a return than the offense has of moving past midfield?

TB: There is still a lot of time to sign free agents, make trades and use the draft to improve the Bears offense.

JM: If the plan is to tank the 2008 season, maybe Angelo should announce it instead of tip-toeing through his petty, pathetic exercise of budget protection, which also claimed special-teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo on Monday.

TB: It was a priority for the Bears to re-sign Lance Briggs and solidify their linebacking corps. Angelo was understandingly very busy securing Briggs to a new contract and can only negotiate with one player at a time.

JM: But Saturday night, while Angelo was boogeying to the Briggs news and forgetting about his offensive woes, Turner was being courted at a five-star restaurant in Atlanta by Falcons owner Arthur Blank and the franchise’s new general manager, head coach and offensive coordinator. Shame on Angelo for not sending the private jet—wait, the McCaskeys never would spring for a private jet—or at least arranging for Turner to be in his hometown first thing Friday morning.

TB: Surprisingly, it turns out that Randy Moss never intended to the leave the New England Patriots.

JM: I realize there was less chance of signing Moss than Virginia McCaskey advocating the return of the Honey Bears, including all-nude Playboy pictorials. But over the weekend, Moss’ agent dropped hints that his client might be amenable to a reunion in another city with quarterback Daunte Culpepper. And weren’t they really screaming, ``Yo, Bears! You don’t have any receivers! You don’t have any quarterbacks! Sign us, you idiots!’’

TB: Jerry Angelo rebuilt the Bears from the ground up and the team made it to the Super Bowl. He deserves another opportunity.

JM: By any definition, that’s offensive. And if Angelo doesn’t figure out there are two sides flanking a line of scrimmage, he should start taking half a paycheck.

Jay the Joke. Real Bears fans. Real sick of the dwarf complaining

  16. I hate to say it, but I think our SB season was also a bit of a fluke. Just as everyone went wrong last year, most everything went right the year before. It is normal to be hit w/ injuries, and while we were hit w/ more than our share last year, we were hit w/ relatively few the year before.

I usually agree with your assessments, but I disagree here. The Bears were trending upwards every year with lovie(except last year of course) and while it seemed everything went right for the Bears for the most part, it seems that way with every Super Bowl team, luck is just part of it. And even when you think about it, everything didnt go right, they dealt with Rex Grossmans backwards slide from the Arizona game forward, injuries to Harris, Mike Brown(again), Tank Johnsons legal issues, there were plenty of things going wrong while the team was still winning.

I didn't realize the free agency and trading period had ended already.

2007-2008 is over, start planning for the '09 draft.

  17. Hester will be twice the player Steve Smith is IF he can learn the ball. ow to catch the ball. His other tools are far superior to Smith which makes his potential limitless. Supposebley I read today that Mark Bradley is the teams #1 receiver coming into next season by default.

You should have your posting priveledges revoked. Seriously. Hester isnt even in the same sentence as Steve Smith in terms of the tools it takes to be a wide reciever. learning to catch the ball does not make him twice the player that Steve Smith is. Take off the orange and navy blue sunglasses, the above statement is borderline retarded
