Coach Stats I just used that Query and sorted it out based on Opp record being above .500 and then counted up the W/L from 2004-2011/2012.

I'd take Tim Tebow, as a TE. Get him a little training at the position and I think he'd have a shot at being a pretty good playmaking TE.

According to Pro-Football reference the Bears are 18-34 against teams that finished the season above .500 during Lovie's tenure as Head Coach. 21-40 if you count this season even though it's not technically finished. Not sure how it stands up next to some of the other coaches in the league, but I imagine it's pretty bad.

The question is, do you really want them to? It's hard for me to say no, but at the same time, I want Lovie Smith gone for good. If we reach the playoffs, then he's probably back no matter how bad we look. Teams just don't fire coaches that make the postseason that often.

They act like they have never been to a game outside of their own stadium. EVERY team gets booed just as much, if not more than Chicago fans boo their team for poor performance. Both of them need to shut up and play football.

The time of the game and where they were on the field, given the situation don't allow you to be cute with the ball. The chances of the Bears actually tying the game with no timeouts and being backed up on their own 3 yard line are incredibly slim. You don't have time to wait for things to develop. The ball needs to get out because you can't waste any time. He danced around the pocket for a day and a half without even attempting any kind of pass. He literally could have done ANYTHING else and it would have been a better decision than what ultimately happened, because taking a sack essentially ends the game. Waiting all day in the pocket isn't necessarily a good thing either. There were really 2 options. Either take the 10-12 yard chunks in the middle of the field 3-4 times, and spike the ball to stop the clock, or hope for a lot of luck by getting a bunch of yards in one play via the deep pass. He had the time to throw it down field. Hell, he had time to tie both of his shoes. If they weren't going to run any short-intermediate plays and just go for the long pass, which it appeared like that's what they were doing, then he should have launched the ball in the air during the 12 seconds he had in the pocket before being taken down. Nobody was going to be open down the field anyways because the Packers coverage wasn't going to allow it. If you're going to throw it, then THROW it, and hope you have another Brandon Marshall/Seattle miracle to get you into position to take another shot at the endzone before time runs out.

I don't even have a problem with what he said about the fans and media. Why does he have to like them? I don't even know why the fans would care about how players view them. I just have a problem with how he views the booing. You get booed when you suck and lose 5 games in a row after a 7-1 start. If you want it to stop, then win games.

Not a bad list. This is just me personally, but I automatically am disqualifying any defensive guy for head coach. I think it's time for the franchise to move away from a defensive dominant team to an offensive one, because that's what wins Superbowls now. Offense acts. Defense reacts. I want someone that can bring an offense out on the field that will dictate to the defense what they are able to do, and not the other way around. Also, if you get a head coach who knows offense, you won't have to deal with anymore changes in philosophy in case the OC decides to leave for another gig after a big year. Lord knows Cutler needs this in the worst way. Without going in depth about my list, I have basically 3 tiers. meh.. The push off, if that's what you want to call it, was far less egregious than some of the previous ones. I've seen worse plays that weren't called. Everything is arbitrary with figuring out what is and what's not pass interference anyways. If they actually called pass interference everytime a receiver made an extension with his arm, then it should be called on virtually every pass attempt where the ball is thrown down field. It's whatever though. I'm not going to blame the officials for being the exact cause that kept the Bears from winning the game. They made some horrible calls, both ways, though I'd say the Bears got the shorter end of the stick on a lot of them.

Wrong. I don't care how many players were rushing, at some point you have to do something. You can't stand around forever and not do anything. Get ouside the pocket, take off and run, throw the ball down field etc.. Pretty much anything other than falling down and taking a sack. At least allow something to happen. Taking a sack is the worst thing possible because you don't even give yourself a chance to win the game.

What an idiot. Does he seriously not know why the fans are booing them? Is he that dull to not realize you probably shouldn't go from 7-1 to 8-6 and expect a resounding support from the fans? If he is, then I don't know what to say to him. He and Conte can both screw off. WIN GAMES!

I thought the one on the touchdown was highly questionable. Not sure it was as much of a push off as it was a slip. The first one they missed, where Jeffery grabbed the facemask wasn't called. The first one they called on him though was legit. However the 3rd one near the sidelines was ridiculous, as was the one they didn't call on Sam Shields at the end of the game.

+1 As always, it's a collective effort. Kelvin Hayden and DJ Moore were absolutely disgusting today in pass coverage. You were right to bring up the extra 6 points missed from the FG kicker, and probably a few more not attempted, thanks to his struggles, the defense does not get to be free from blame here. That said, you still have to put up more than 13 points on the other side. Especially against a defense that's not really any good. Cutler still makes that one mistake far too often in big games. That throw to Hester is simply inexcusable. I don't care what route he was supposed to run, Cutler saw him, even pump faked once before releasing the ball, I guess expecting Hester to magically appear in front of Casey Hayward. He wasn't nearly as bad as he was in week 2, but then again, we only threw it 21 damn times all together, so he didn't have as many opportunities to throw more picks. Which leads me to Matt Forte. As I mentioned in the game thread, He had 58 of his 69 rushing yards in the 1st half. 35 in the 1st quarter. Whether it was the Packers making adjustments, the Bears blocking worse as the game went on, Forte not running as good as he's capable of, or a mixture of everything, you can't be this inept in the run game. You just can't do it. It's a joke. There's a reason why he's not in on most goal line situations. What the hell is he doing all that god damn dancing for? HIT THE freakin HOLE! GET IN THE ENDZONE. That frustrated me more than anything in this game. Watching that garbage from the 1 yard line. This is what we paid him for? Please... The offensive line had someone new in on seemingly every other snap I couldn't keep tracked. Carimi got benched. AGAIN. Doesn't speak much about his future. Jonathon Scott had a pretty good game. 2nd time he's been heads up on recovering a fumble. Still looked like the same old Bears offensive line though. Can't hold their blocks consistently enough each game. The last sack of the game was pretty hilarious though. Cutler took about 18 seconds to eventually fall down and not get rid of the ball against 2 people rushing. Perfect way to end such a predictable game. It was almost stereotypical Bears/Packers with Cutler at quarterback.

Playoff standings updated. The Bears are now on the outside looking in after 5 straight losses. They fall to 3rd in the division. Pretty much have to win the next two games and get some help from some other teams.

Haven't they been contemplating on whether or not to sell the team for years now? I thought I heard that people have been telling them to since they aren't making any money. They don't have other businesses like most owners do, so they're better off selling the team, getting some money to go away, and let somebody else who knows what they're doing run the franchise. This would be the best thing for the Bears.

This is almost verbatim to what I said early in the season when we lost to them in week 2. Cutler panics. He doesn't set his feet, and often throws balls up for grabs when under duress, instead of doing what Aaron Rodgers is so damn good at. TAKING CARE OF THE BALL. Rodgers can get pounded all night from his horrid offensive line but still put up fine numbers, or at least do enough to give his team a chance to win. Right now, Cutler is a bum slayer. That's what he is. He's Carlos Boozer. I don't know if he will ever be the type of quarterback that can lead a team to the Superbowl. I frankly doubt it. I think you could even give him the best line in football and he'd still come up short in the postseason. He'd find a way to make a costly mistake that would have a major impact on the game. That's just the way I feel about him. I think he's a slightly above average quarterback that you should always be able to compete for the postseason with but not win championships. He hasn't done anything to make me change my opinion. There is no way I'm giving him an extension when the franchise tag is available. And I don't think the Bears are considering this (Nor am I necessarily), but if there was a young quarterback worth trading up in the 1st round for you could probably trade your #1 pick along with Cutler to get that guy. Unfortunately this year would probably be a bad time to do it even if you wanted to. It's a bad draft for quarterbacks.

Lovie and the Bears have the Jeff Fisher syndrome. Bill Walsh said 10 years in one place is too long. If you're not Bill Belichick and getting to Superbowls every other year, I think after a certain point it's time to move in a different direction. They need a new voice, a new scheme, more talent.

I don't remember which pre-game show it was, but one of the insiders said that the Saints and Sean Payton aren't close yet on a new contract agreement, and that he could end up looking at other options outside of just Dallas if they can't reach an agreement. I would be jumping for joy if the Bears landed some mega deal for one of the top coaches in this league. The second he steps in, the Bears are better on offense. They're a better team. I still think the chances are highly unlikely, but you never know. He's from the area. Grew up in Naperville Illinois-- maybe he would want to come back home. As for Andy Reid. I think he would be a bad hire. I like the thought of bringing in a guy with an offensive mind, but not him. His teams over the past few seasons have been just as dysfunctional as Lovie Smith and his teams. The lack of preparedness, bad gameplanning etc.. I think what Reid needs the most is a recharge. He needs to go home and get away from football for a while. The guys I've wanted start with Sean Payton, and then someone like Arians or Holmgren would be my top two choices after that. If none of those work out, I'd open up the possibility for whichever offensive coordinator from Carolina or San Francisco wants a job. I've softened on Gruden a little bit too. At first I said hell no, but I know he is a guy knows how to teach offense. He had no quarterback in Tampa Bay after Brad Johnson, who wasn't even that good himself. I'd give him some thought if you couldn't get anybody else.
