This is a Mortal Kombat style ANNIHILATION!

Charles Tillman, AGAIN!

UN-BELIEVABLE!!!

Nice push by Forte and the O-Line for an offensive touchdown. Finally, albeit a gift wrapped TD thanks to the Hester return. It's a start.

Absolutely Brutal offense. This is unacceptable. We will get blown out the next two weeks against Houston and San Fran if this continues.

Throw the freakin ball away, and call a SLANT!

Good ole Kellen Davis, one of many Bears drive killers, with an idiotic holding penalty to start the game. 3 and out. Yay!

You guys still think Cutler checks out of games

Kolb was never that good in Philly. 7 TD's, 7 INT's, 78 QB Rating. Those were his numbers in 7 games (5 started) during his final season with the Eagles. Arizona thought he had potential, but so far he has not lived up to the expectations, and has had his struggles just being able to stay healthy. -

Well I think it's pretty obvious what his problem is isn't it? They have no quarterback and the worst offensive line in football. Tough combination of bad to overcome. -

According to Pro Football Focus, Jonathon Martin is among the league worst in terms of pass blocking efficiency sitting #45 out of #57. Gabe Carimi is 4th from the worst. Riley Reiff is a 1st round pick that can't even get on the field for another average-below average offensive line. It's highly doubtful he would have made an impact on this team this year, especially considering most rookies aren't that great to begin with. As far as the WR's, they will make the offensive line look better, when they start to gel. Jeffery has been out for multiple weeks, Earl Bennett missed time early in the season, they need to get everyone together, Tice needs to make sure to utilize the short passing game more often, and the offense will look better. I really can't see the offense being this poor by the end of the year. It's quite simple actually-- great receivers make the quarterback and offensive line better (and vise versa) because they get open more often, and Cutler shouldn't have to hold onto the ball as long as he would with a Knox or a Hester, who can't separate. That's "how" it happens. Cutler himself also needs to do a better job at getting rid of the ball earlier though. He has a tendency to wait for his receivers to come out of their breaks before throwing them the football instead of throwing them open. -

When you have a guy like Brandon Marshall being the only receiver running a route and still getting open, I think that's a pretty good indicator of just how dynamic the offense can be. If this was last year, Johnny Knox or Devin Hester couldn't do the things this guy is able to do on the football field. The offensive line certainly isn't holding back Marshall's production. The latter two statements about confidence and being able to throw quicker are just flat out wrong. Marshall's 50 catches and 80 targets kind of illustrates the exact opposite of a quarterback not being confident in his receiver. Having a true #1 matters, and it matters a lot. Cutler can throw it quicker, his receivers actually can get open now, when Alshon is healthy. The slant route is there every time. It's always there for the two big guys. That's a play you couldn't run all the time last year with the guys they had. For some inexplicable reason, the coordinator too often ignores this in the midst of a game, until the two minute drill last week where they went to it 4 straight times before the game winning FG. This is a play calling issue. At the end of the day, I really don't know what you thought the Bears could have done to significantly improve the offensive line over the offseason because it certainly wasn't happening in the draft. The two guys that were tossed around here at the time, Jonathon Martin and Riley Reiff both suck. You don't just draft a position because you have to, the players available actually have to be good. The talent has to be there. I don't think they could have gotten Carl Nicks or Eric Winston to come over for less money either, though they would have been good additions. -
Oops, per game, I meant. lol

BM should definitely get there. He's on pace to shatter his personal best in receiving yards. I think he's averaging close to 100 YPC.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,7089264.column Interesting piece from Pompei. Says the offensive line didn't play nearly as bad as it looked out there. Based on the tape, they were only responsible for 2 of the sacks.

I thought Rodriguez was going to be the pass catching TE. I don't know what the Bears are doing with him now, but I don't understand it. They have Kellen Davis out there, who can't block or catch well at all, and for whatever reason, they have yet to send Evan Rodriguez out in a route this season. I know he's been injured, so maybe we'll see it pretty soon, at least I hope so. In terms of priorities for next year, we can assume OL will be at the top of the list, to go along with a position on defense (preferably MLB). After that it's a tossup. If it were me, I'd spend the offseason looking to find eventual replacements for Lovie's cover 2 defense, for when guys like Peppers, Urlacher, Briggs, and Tillman really start to fade. Urlacher is already there, which is why I want them to spend a high pick on that position next year.

There is no way Denver lets him walk. Very few teams are blessed with the luxury of an All-Pro LT, and you can't let that go for nothing. But, in the case that he is somehow not signed by Broncos, you better believe the Bears would be all over him, if we are financially able to get involved.

I agree that the Bears are really good, I just don't know how good. I don't know if they are better than the Giants, Packers, 49'ers, the Texans etc.. I don't know if I have the confidence to pick them over any of those teams because I don't know which quarterback is going to show up. Like I said, the rest of our schedule after the Titans game coming up, is looking like it's going to be extremely tough. Before the year is over I might have a better answer to this question. -

In two weeks, they play the Houston Texans. That's where it starts, IMO. I don't care that the Bears can beat up on the rag dolls of the NFL. That's what they are suppose to do (although lately, they haven't really beaten up on anybody the last two weeks). The only game they played a team that was worthy of consideration for being good was GB, and they lost that game. Now again, they play who's on their schedule, that's great for the record, but as someone who's trying to figure out what this team is it doesn't really do anything for me. I want to see how Cutler and the Bears do against top competition. The latter part of their schedule is brutal. This stuff here is great to build a cushion for the stretch run, but I'm not going to sit here and say they reign supreme over the NFL. -

If you look at Cutler's stats and you take away his worst game (Against the Packers) you get this.. Passing Yards: 1419 Completion %: 61.38 TD/INT: 8/4 QB Rating: 91.0 (6 Games) Those are solid numbers. Certainly not eye popping, but solid. Now, you see how much of an effect that one game had on his numbers for the other 6 games. However, if you're going to take away a game that had such a negative impact on his numbers, why not also take away one game where he was at his best, and see where you're at? Here are his numbers in the 5 other games if you exclude GB and DAL. Passing Yards: 1144 Completion %: 58.66 TD/INT: 6/4 QB Rating: 81.18 (5 Games) This gives you a pretty good gauge on exactly where he's been at for the majority of the season. Those numbers tell you essentially the same thing his season numbers show, which is that he's been very average. You'd like to see his completion % hover around 62-64%. League average is 61.8%. The decision making has been better lately in the past couple of games than it was to start off the year. I think we know how inconsistent the guy is, but if you want to label his performance through 7 games this season, it would be "Average." You can't really make the case that he's been anything but. He should be better than that, and at this point, I'm probably just going to have to accept him for what he is. He will have his good games, and he'll have the stinkers that make you scratch your head. -

The one where he reached out and snatched the ball out of the air was a thing of beauty. We wouldn't have won that game without him today. -

I would imagine it's a bit different playing from behind against the Panthers than it is the Packers. Greenbay has him wired and Cutler knows it. I think he's more easily flustered when going up against those guys than anybody else because of that history of poor performances. That's why I'm taking the wait and see approach. Let me know the next time he beats that team and how he performs. I don't care about a game against an awful team. I'm glad we won, and I'll give Jay credit for those final two drives, but I want to see him do it against a quality opponent, and especially against our arch rivals. -

The Carolina Panthers are a bad football team. How long has it been since we beat the Packers? -
Eh.. Barely squeaking out a win against a 1-5 team that outplayed you in all 3 phases of the game doesn't exactly instill the thought of being a "special" team. A win is a win, but the offense MUST improve. If you play like that against the Packers, Texans, and 49'ers you're going to lose.

Robbie Gould! Winner winner!

This drive right here is what we are paying Cutler to do. Get a touchdown and don't even worry about a FG. Plenty of time. 2 minutes, 1 time out. With this wind, a FG is going to be an adventure...
