Phill Emery is a GENIUS!!!!
-
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW GET WILLIAMS!
-
It's likely that Briggs would be cut if this were to happen. I doubt we get both but it would be nice.
-
It may not be but the fact that Lovie is in Texas probably lends credence to them trying to bring in Mario Williams as well.
-
Adam Schefter just said on ESPN that the Bears may be the favorite to land Mario Williams. Things are starting to heat up!
-
You can re-sign your own players now but can't sign other players until 3 PM CT today.
-
Wouldn't it be kind of odd if Lovie had Peppers come with him on a recruiting trip and it didn't involve Mario Williams? I'm sure the Jackson interest is real but what is Julius doing in Texas with Lovie if he's not trying to convince Mario Williams to sign with us?
-
Mario Williams is the best player in free agency, similar to when Peppers hit the market a few seasons ago. It's him over anyone else. I just looked at his wikipedia page and was blown away when I saw that he has a 40 1/2 inch vertical at 6'7 283! That is the very definition of a freak. You put two freak athletes together on different sides of the line and you have a dominant defense. Vincent Jackson concerns me because of his injury history and his history off the field. Not known as a guy that's a competitor. He wants his money. I think there is a huge bust factor with him personally. He's already 29 going on 30.

Just listened to Hub on the score and said he was the surprise cut of the offseason. I know nothing about him but supposedly he's pretty good at football.
-
I've been reading that supposedly Mario Williams isn't all about the money and might even accept a lesser type of deal so the Bears can sign another guy like Vincent Jackson to go with him. The rumor is that Lovie and Peppers are flying to Texas to speak with both of them. How insane would this be?
-
I don't think Moon Mullins track record has been very good on these sorta things. I'll believe it when it gets reported on Sports Center. Mario Williams on this team with Peppers = Top 3 defense in NFL, easily. Only problem with Williams is he will take up most of your remaining cap space. Then it'll be a guy like Meachem or Eddie Royal to finish free agency. Vincent Jackson or Colston give you room to possibly sign another impactful free agent like Ben Grubbs. If it were up to me, I'm going for the biggest bang for your buck, Mario Williams and Eddie Royal.

I would hate to have to root for a guy like Finnegan..

Somewhere, Ditka is smiling.

Awesome. I can dig Kameron Wimbley. He's a baller. I'm honestly not sure who I would favor between Colston and Jackson. Both players have their flaws. I myself would rather have Colston but I'm not 100% on that.
-
Seems like he might be the backup plan if Michael Floyd isn't there. I like it.
-
Signing Mario Williams would instantly give us the best DE tandem in the league since Freeney and Mathis in their primes, but probably better. I can't imagine a quarterback that's going to enjoy tryiing to throw over two 6'8 athletic freaks on each side of the line. It's a no brainer if you ask me. You go all out for Williams, if he signs elsewhere it better not because it's for more money.
-
Did Bowe not get the tag yet? I believe tomorrow is the last day you can place a franchise tag on somebody so we'll know by tomorrow. I suspect it will be down to Jackson and Colston though.

Saints Guilty of putting Bounties on Players

I'm sure this isn't the only team in the league that's doing this stuff. I'd bet money that Detroit probably has some sort of bounty program going on behind the scenes. -
That's insane. I'd make Mario Williams and Carl Nicks my first two targets and see if we can sign one of them. If it doesn't work out then I'd go to Jackson and Colston. If none of those options work, I think our offseason failed.

Saints Guilty of putting Bounties on Players

But what really gets me, is that these same players that were purposely injuring their opponents were probably the same guys that were involved in prayer circles while a player was getting carted off the field. And if I remember correctly, the Saints were the ones that started the whole solidarity thing two seasons ago with the Vikings when the league was entering its final year of the CBA. What a bunch of Con Artists.. -

There were whispers out recently (Heard it on the radio) that Goodell might try something creative and strip New Orlean's franchise tag for the year, thus making Drew Brees an unrestricted FA. Either way, I don't think Greg Williams is going to be coaching any time soon and the Saints will be losing something costly, possibly the forfeit of draft picks or no franchise tag for the season among a hefty fine. -
What a joke. That explains the hits on Cutler and Earl Bennett back in week 2 when they were blitzing all over. I can't believe how anyone on that staff could go along with trying to get their guys to send their opponents off in a cart and then pay them for it. Sean Peyton, I've lost all respect for you. I wonder what Goodell is going to do. You have to think there is going to be a loss of draft picks. A huge fine is not enough and won't get teams to stop doing this. I can't say that I'm surprised by this though. The Saints have been notoriously dirty ever since Greg Williams was their coordinator. They need to investigate Detroit now..
