  1. Yes but that only accounts for players that are cut while they are still under contract. That doesn't have any effect on the salary commitment to a given player that's still with the team. Do you have a link to the website your looking at? I'd like to compare it to what's on the CBMB.
  2. The Bears are only committed to 82,196,000 in total salary and have a 8,280,000 2011 cap rollover. If the cap number for this year is 120,750,000 we will have an estimate of about $46.834 mill. I'd be interested in seeing that website you are "researching" because on the Bears board it lists all of the players that the Bears are committed to paying. Not sure how it can really be disputed. The only thing that can be is the estimated cap but the guy has done his homework on the new CBA and has been right more often than not. That number will probably go down to about 20 mil after Matt Forte signs his tender and the Bears re-sign some of their own as well as their rookies.
  3. Manningham is closer to Bernard Berrian when he was with us than he is to Earl Bennett.
  4. Yeah I brought that up a few weeks ago. The guy obviously took his time to go through everything thoroughly enough to make it seem believable. All these writers are going off hear say and every number is different. Atleast with this, everything is documented with every players current and future salaries. I just don't see how there can be such a huge discrepancy between everyone.
  5. Can't say until we get to see the market for him. You can always ask for that type of money but who's going to be the desperate team to give it to him?
  6. I want Bowe but he'll probably get the tag placed on him, Vincent Jackson won't get tagged again, he'll be available but he'd be my 3rd option after Marcus Colston. Colston is a big target for Cutler and a nice possession receiver. Jackson has more upside but he's 29 and is known to be not the most motivated guy in the world. Not to mention, injury prone. I don't see Brandon Marshall as a realistic option because the Dolphins have no reason to trade him. Assuming Bowe isn't available, my ideal scenario is getting Colston and Kendall Wright in the draft. The more I see of Wright the more I like him. He's got Steve Smith type of talent. Smallish receiver but has the courage to go over the middle and the speed to beat you deep. And unlike Knox and Hester, he can actually catch the ball and run good routes.
  7. Haha. I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing at the time the deal went down. I was sitting in my English 101 class and got a text from someone saying "Bears got Cutler" I actually took it as a joke and didn't think much of it until I had another class during the night and logged onto the computer just to check and as soon as I saw Chicago Bears.com my body went into a state that I can't even describe. I immediately got up and left because I couldn't wait another minute to celebrate. It was an amazing feeling.
  8. Tatupu is already 29 going on 30 and plays MLB. No thanks.
  9. I'm talking about Kellen Davis, not Fred Davis.
  10. Moss would be a good 4th receiver, ego aside. He's not a #1 anymore and an iffy #2. Unless I'm completely wrong and he still has the speed and quickness that made him so great in 07 and before that, Randy would be just another guy you can throw out there on passing downs to mix things up and let him go deep.
  11. Maybe. I don't have any problem with that. But it would be interesting to see a dual TE set that the Bears can run out there ala NE's Gronkowski and Hernandez. Davis and Finley would be a pretty potent combo and Tice was a former TE himself. I could see him getting all giddy at building his offense through the TE's. Just a thought.
  12. I can't even imagine losing your wife. Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
  13. They're still arresting people for Marijuana? Haha. It could be worse..
  14. Yeah I was just going to say, Mike Williams all over again. He's 2nd round material now.
  15. The chances are slim because the way his franchise tag works is Houston would have to pay him over 21 million just for the 2012 season alone. Because Williams is now a LB and his current cap number is 18 million, Houston can't offer him the average of the top 5 paid LB for the 2012 season. Since his cap number is above $10 million, franchising him means the Texans must guarantee him 120 percent of his current salary next season. It's the way the rule works; either the average of the top five salaries or 120 percent of the players salary, whichever is greater. He will almost surely hit the open market. Doesn't mean he can't or won't re-sign long term with Houston though.
  16. Bowe will get franchised more than likely by Kansas City, unless they decide to use it on Carr. After the pipe dreams in Mario Williams and Carl Nicks my #1 free agent would be Dwayne Bowe. 1- Bowe 2- Colston 3- Jackson 4- Finley 5- Steve Johnson 6- Eddie Royal 7- Manningham That sounds about right.
  17. I think it's a safer bet this time around because you already have a quarterback and a QB coach that's familiar with him. I'd imagine they will run alot of similar plays that they ran in Denver to get Cutler more comfortable. If he can stay healthy, I would expect Eddie Royal to get back to being a fringe pro bowl type of player again assuming we add a true #1 receiver along with him.
  18. Garcon is pretty much Johnny Knox. Both are fast speedy receivers that can't catch the football very well. Mario Williams should be the obvious #1 target in FA when he becomes available. The Bears will have the money to spend. It's just a matter of how Emery plans to build this team. I want atleast one established veteran WR in FA and another one or two through the draft.
  19. I like Eddie Royal. I definitely know we could get him for cheap. When Bates and Cutler were in Denver, that was the year he went off for 90 catches. He'll go back to being a beast again. Also could take the place of Johny Knox on special teams backup to Hester. Colston would be my #1 guy to go after in free agency after Mario Williams and Carl Nicks if he's available. I'd then sign Royal for cheap and draft Kendall Wright with the 19th pick to complete our WR core of Colston, Wright, Bennett, Royal. If we can't get Colston I'd try my hardest to steal Finley away from GB.
  20. I don't know what number to believe when looking at what our cap space will be like this season. I've seen 24 million and 50 million. I've seen the breakdown of the latter and it's hard to dispute.
  21. I would take a dead corpse over Frank Omiyale any day..
  22. He had a serious neck injury, and you kind of sorta need to have a good neck to be able to play football. That's the only thing that worries me with him, and I'm sure that's why the Chargers released him to begin with.
  23. They were contenders this season with a healthy Cutler and after getting into the NFC Championship game last year. If they hit a homerun this offseason with the draft and FA there is no telling how good this club can be. But it has to happen within 1-2 years before the inevitable decline of some of our players on defense start to come into affect. We will need a few years of drafting to solve that issue.
  24. Yeah that's what I'm saying. The QB coach is essentially the passing coordinator.
  25. Tice will be the one calling the plays but Bates will be in charge of designing the offense around Cutler from the passing standpoint. He is essentially an offensive consultant.
