I hope they sell the team. That will be a great day for all Bears fans.

Why no talk of Saints personnel people?
Bears4Ever_34 replied to WheresMyronBaker's topic in Bearstalk
Yeah, they are doing background checks on all the candidates before actually beginning the interview process. They always do everything backwards.. skjensen Sean Jensen This was a few days ago. I guess that's where I heard it from, on the Bears board. Probably not newsworthy now since the Colts have since signed their GM and the Bears still have yet to interview anybody. -

I think there is. I can't remember the guys name but I thought I read somewhere that the Bears wanted to talk to a Saints player personal director about the GM Job. I could be wrong though. -
Marshall was picked up for 2 2nd round picks. We could might be able to get him with a 2nd and 3rd.

I like Dwight Jones alot. I also like Mohamed Sanu. Two very big physical receivers that can get down field and be #1 options in the redzone.

WalterFootball (Bears Picks)and wishful thinking

Oh. Yeah, well if they want to go that route they'll hire Jerry's bff Timmy Ruskell. He's pretty good at that too. -
I would honestly rather have Jerry Angelo than Tim Ruskell. I'd take virtually anyone with GM experience or not over that guy. The only reason they are even considering the guy is so they can all save their phony bologna jobs and save money. That and maybe because nobody that's actually qualified for the job doesn't want it because they really won't have any power.

He's going to be there because he's really not a 2nd round pick. He's not worth that round in the draft. He's more of a 4th rounder IMO. -

Not a fan of Nick Toon. Screams bust right away to me and he's definitely going to be there in the 2nd round. CB isn't really that important of a need to spend a first round pick on. Rather it go towards a WR or OL. -
Nobody in free agency that's worth a crap outside of Curtis Lofton from ATL but I believe he plays ILB. I haven't been following the LB position in the draft at all. Whats the breakdown for OLB? It would be great to get a guy that could bring a pass rush. Haven't had that since Colvin left and Urlacher was a young'n.
-
Get it done future GM! I'll take a WR that'll get you 1200 yards from a no name quarterback any day of the week.
-
I used to think that until this season. They threw all over the Bears in each of those games this year. Could be our guys getting older or that Aaron Rodgers is getting better. The defense that plays them the best are the ones that can mix it up with man to man defense and zone while getting consistent pressure on Rodgers. The Chiefs have been the only team to do that so far this year. I think San Fran can do the same thing if given the opportunity.

Isn't Nelson like 6'3? I understand the point about wanting diff style receivers but I don't think it has to be done like that. You look at Dallas' WR's. Dez Bryant is a big physical receiver and so is Miles Austin. They are doing fine. I think the biggest thing is speed. What you can't have is two slow guys. If the guy is skilled enough and just happens to be 6'4 then I don't think just because you already have one tall guy you automatically can't have another. I don't know how fast Bowe is. I think he is considerably faster than Vincent Jackson and Marcus Colston, but if we are talking about guys like Jeffery and Floyd, that's where the speed factor comes in to play. I'm not sure you want to pair Jackson with Floyd or Jeffery because keep in mind, Earl Bennett will be our #3 guy and he's not going to beat anybody down field either. Now, if either Floyd or Jeffery had Calvin Johnson like speed to go along with their size, then pairing two big guys up would not be a problem.
-
I would say in order of importance, WR, FS, OL, DL, CB, LB but that's before even knowing who we get in free agency. If we get an OL in FA, then that position becomes less important. If we get a FA WR then that position becomes less important etc..

There's not going to be any big name coaches coming to Chicago to be the "Passing coordinator". It's just not going to happen. What will happen most likely is that a quarterbacks coach from somewhere will come over because it's a promotion. No offensive coordinator will come here to be one of two guys that are designated OC's. Or in Bears logic, Darryl Drake will be the guy.
-
If Ruskell is the next GM I quit watching Bears football.
-
If Darryl Drake gets promoted to the passing coordinator I'll LMAO.
-
He pretty much is. He's interviewing the candidates along with Teddy, who the GM is suppose to report to even though he knows nothing about the game of football. Then Teddy gets to report to George even though anything Ted wants is going to happen because Georges family supports whatever that guy wants to do. Lovie is basically the GM here while Ted is the owner.
-
Nah, not with this team. Lovie has all the power to do whatever he wants.
-
The Job isn't as good as it is with other teams. It would be if our idiots running the team were gone and the new GM could come in with his new hand picked coach. I'm sure that stuff has already begun to affect alot of the decisions these guys are making. Who knows if DeCosta comes if he had total control, instead of having a coach here he doesn't want.
-
This team has no idea how to play to Cutler's strengths its just sickening. Doubly bad news to start off my morning. Decosta out, and now what I feared most of Mike Tice being our OC.. This has all the makings of disaster when you are putting basically two guys in position of OC. Who the hell has ever heard of a "Run game coordinator" and a "Passing coordinator". This just reeks of utter failure.

I used to think Defense wins championships and maybe it still does but what we are seeing now is the evolution of high scoring passing offenses. The Packers, Saints, or Patriots are going to win it this year and all their defenses suck but nobody can keep up with them on the scoreboard, especially GB. Look at what Detroit's done. With all the rule changes it has put defenses at a disadvantage and allowed teams to exploit it through the air. If you breath on a guy going over the middle, it's a 15 yard penalty. We are now in a league where Rookies can come in and throw for over 4,000 yards. I think offense is every bit as important as a solid defense now.

New GM's thoughts on draft w/ a lame duck coach....
Bears4Ever_34 replied to ASHKUM BEAR's topic in Bearstalk
It's also a huge reason we made the Superbowl. Those spots you mentioned, at the time, we had Urlacher in his prime, Tommie Harris when he was at his best, before the injury, and Mike Brown who quite possibly was one of if not the best safety in the league at the time. -
DeCosta is the guy I want if I had to pick but I think there are still several legit candidates out there. The Bears are going to get a good one. Bill Polian is still out there too.
