  1. The reason I dislike the Hardin pick so much is because of the injury history. How many times do the Bears have to get bit by this before they realize that drafting injury prone players in college usually results in being injury prone in the NFL? It's not like they are going to get any healthier playing professionally. The kid seems talented based on his measurables and he's built like a tank. I think this was a major reach for a guy that didn't even play his senior season and has been hurt 3 out of 4 years he's played in college.
  2. The difference now is he's coming in to a perfect situation. He's not going to be the #1 and he's not going to be double covered. He'll have ever opportunity to succeed right away in this league. I think within 2-3 full seasons, he should be a Pro bowl quality receiver. Both Marshall and Jefferey have that "100 catch" type of talent. Not saying both of them will grab 100 balls but Jeffery, at his best, I believe is that type of possession (move the chains) type of receiver that's going to be targeted quite often, especially in the redzone.
  3. The Bears should have the most dominant special teams of all time entering this season. There shouldn't be any excuses on that front.
  4. Jury is still out. He at least showed flashes but nevertheless, injury prone just like Major "Made of porcelain Wright". Massie was sitting right there and we passed. There were also some decent corners.. Ugh.
  5. If you take history into consideration, at least 8 games.
  6. I'm starting to feel like Jerry Angelo never left. Or maybe Lovie Smith is actually in charge after all. This pick and the 1st rounder has Lovie's finger prints all over it. I hate drafting "Special Teamers" in the 3rd round, much less a guy that's always hurt. This guy wasn't even invited to the combine and you use a 3rd round pick on him?
  7. Agreed. Hate both 1st round and 3rd round pick. Hardin may be a terrific special teamer but I don't see how he was the best football player available.
  8. Well that's great. Another injury prone safety
  9. Emery said he wants role players in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Doesn't sound like an OL, so I'm guessing a rotational DT or S. I like this Massie guy though.
  10. I'd take Dennard if he's there. Not sure what OL is still available. Massie?
  11. What is Detroit thinking? Ryan Broyles? I like Broyles but what did they draft Titus Young for last year then?
  12. Bennett now gets to play his best position as a #3 and Hester can back him up while Jeffery gets single coverage all game with Brandon Marshall dominating every corner that tries to stop him. We're talking about a guy that made Derell Revis look like a scrub. Can't wait to see our offense now.
  13. Talk about major YAC. Jeffery is one of the more physical runners after the catch in college football. Brandon Marshall is probably the best in all of the NFL in terms of running after the catch. Two huge Redzone targets. What's that noise I hear? Oh that's just the collective groan from all NFC North teams after this pick.
  14. Woot! Good pick by Bears. I would have preferred Randle but I'm okay with this. Now go get an OL and a CB.
  15. Freaking Jets trade up to take Hill.. Bears should have dealt a pick to move up to get him.
  16. I'm not talking about the kid, I'm talking about Emery bringing up McClellin's special teams skills as if they expected him to play special teams after being picked 19th overall in the NFL Draft or that it actually meant something in the evaluation process.
  17. One thing I NEVER want to hear out of a GM's mouth when talking about a 1st round pick is that they are a great special teams player. I know it was somewhat of a throwaway comment but come on. We're really going to spend time on a guys special teams skills with the 19th pick in the NFL draft? He should be a guy that starts from day 1 of the draft and makes an immediate impact. The Hub comments were interesting. I generally pay no mind to what he has to say but I can't help but agree with him on his comments about McClellin. He mentioned that a source close to the organization told him he thinks they envision McClellin actually as more of an inside LB in a 3-4 as opposed to playing on the outside. I found that particularly interesting. I personally believe that Emery is confident that Shea can play DE in a 4-3 scheme but I think he's more confident that he will be better served in a 3-4 scheme. It's food for thought.
  18. Oh for the love of god First of all, unless your brain is wired differently than a normal human being, it's physically impossible to avoid noticing the most evident physical trait on the human body. Using race to determine whether or not someone is capable of playing football is dumb and meaningless. If that's what you think I'm doing, then I suggest enrolling to the reading comprehension school for the dumb. Secondly, you clearly have no idea what racism is. The definition of racism comes from carrying out acts of hatred and bigotry due to belief in superiority of one race over another. Clearly that's exactly what I've done. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming..
  19. The fact of the matter is, when comparing against other players, ethnicity is the first thing people take note of, and whether they like it or not it immediately brings to mind other players of similar background. That is just how the brain works with association and that's all I've been trying to say. Now if people want to bring up this nonsense about racism or what have you, I'd tell them to go kick rocks and that they have no idea what the definition of that word means.
  20. My board: Stephen Hill Reuben Randle Alshon Jeffery Brian Quick *Trade up for an extra 2nd rounder* and take Jeff Allen I want a WR in one of these next two rounds. I'd prefer round 2 because then all the talent starts to drop off. I assume most of these receivers are going to start dropping like flies in the 2nd. You might be able to get Jaron Criner or Dwight Jones in the 3rd, but those guys aren't the prospects of the 4 that I listed above. Also, anyone think Janoris Jenkins should be under consideration here? I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards no.
  21. AND......? Come on now, lets not play dumb. If that was the reason, why aren't experts comparing Larry to Kevin Durant? He's a long guy that can shoot and can make plays, plays the same position, shoots FT's at a high %. We are pretending like this sort of thing doesn't happen but it does all the time, in the sport's world.
  22. Well, Emery certainly knows a lot more about scouting than I do, so there's hope after all. But seeing how we are all able to voice are opinions about what we see and can analyze, I just don't like the pick, considering all the other options that were available. I hope he turns out, for Emery's sake and the Bears. 1st round busts is the quickest way to getting yourself fired. He better be sure.
  23. A lot of people now are drawing comparisons from Dirk Nowitzki to Larry Bird. Why do you think that is?
