Stop running the ball on 1st down. Everyone knows what the Bears are trying to do. It's no secret that they are going to feed Forte the ball but you have to be more creative with your play calling to make it work. Running it on 1st down at the start of every drive is not going to work. Do something else Martz.

What an unbelievable pathetic start to this game. Bull shit penalties and now Haine being terrible. Can Cutler play with a cast next week??
-
What a bull shit holding call.
-
God damn defense! DO SOMETHING! Should have been two sacks and our guys couldn't get to him. Terrible start..
-
Hope he ends up like Haynesworth! I can't believe he would continue to do the same stupid shit that gets his team in trouble and says he won't change anything. What an ass hat.
-
Zach Zaidman just tweeted, that Cutler could begin throwing in 3 weeks. That's really good news.
-
I wonder if Orton even shows up. The whole reason he wanted to be released anyways was to come back to Chicago. Kansas City' coach is a nutjob and probably still believes his team can make the playoffs (They have no chance).
-
I know. But the report of 4-6 weeks is speaking to what the specialist was so optimistic about from a few days ago, in the sense that he won't miss the entire season like all the others have been reporting.
-
That sucks. Now we probably won't face the god awful Tyler Palko..
-
I find it hard to believe a guy that never examined Cutler himself and never looked at the MRI could tell you exactly what his time table is. I trust the specialist that looked at him. But either way, it doesn't mean anything really, one way or the other because the surgery itself, depending on what they do, can speed his recovery up to possible allow him to come back after 4-6 weeks. Here's what I'm talking about.. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,2946641.story

Jeff Garcia is 41 years old. No thanks. I used to like him but I can't imagine him being ready to play after being out of the game for a couple of years.
-
Nice find. I like it. Eric Mangini was blowing his load all over this after the news broke on NFL live. He thinks this is a no brainer for Chicago. I still think the Bears bring him in as a backup. There is no way he can pick up Mike Martz offense within these 5 or 6 weeks until Cutler is back. But Orton is still a much much better option to have in case of an emergency than Nathan Enderle.
-
Jay Glazer just tweeted that the Chiefs and Bears will claim him but since the Chiefs have priority, it sounds like he's going to KC. Kind of sucks now that we have to play them in two weeks and we might not have to face the awful Tyler Palko. Orton is a serviceable quarterback and would be a good backup for any team.
-
Denver just waived him today. Still has to go through waivers. I don't think it matters at this point because the Bears are content with starting Caleb Haine but he would be a great addition as his backup.
-
I heard it on the radio. There was a report that said he saw a specialist yesterday and they gave the Bears a very optimistic report that he could be back possibly by the Minnesota game if not the GB game.
-
Same issues. It sucks. It really does.
-
The best possible scenario has Cutler practicing on a limited basis the week before the GB game and then is able to give it a go in the GB game on Christmas day. I think he'll end up playing in the Minnesota game even if his injury isn't 100% healed. They'll put some sort of tape or wrap on it and Cutler will just have to make due with it.

Oakland- W: Nobody really has a book on Caleb Haine yet, and I think we can use that to our advantage early on in his first few starts. The Raiders will likely beat themselves with penalties (They are the most penalized team in the league) and Carson Palmer will throw a few up for grabs on occasion. They do have a stingy defense but I don't fear them. As long as Martz develops a gameplan that fits to Caleb's strengths, we should win this one. We should see plenty of screen plays and more plays inside of 15 yards. I think this one will be a low scoring game that will be won by our defense in the end. Kansas City- W: They have Tyler Palko and a terrible offense without Jamal Charles. This one should be the easiest win out of the next 6 IMO. Denver- L: Denver's defense will get after the quarterback. I worry that Haine gets hit a few times and if Denver can generate a turnover or two and give Tebow a short field to work with, this one is going to be tough. I'm hopeful that we can beat this team but I'll go against my bias atleast for this one. Seattle- W: Next up, Tavaris Jackson. If this game was at Seattle, I think it would be a different game. But its at Chicago and I think we will win yet another grind it out, ugly football game. Green Bay- L: Unless GB rests their starters, I don't see any way we come away with a victory without Cutler in this game. Minnesota- W (With Cutler) L (Without Cutler): This could be the defining game of the season and could make the difference between missing or making the playoffs. Reports are now that the Bears are optomistic about Cutler's chances to come back for this game and if he does, we should definitely win. However, if he isn't able to go, I don't see Caleb Haine beating the Vikings at their own home when they will want to do everything in their power to ruin our playoff chances. That makes us 11-5 or 10-6. And as I mentioned in a previous thread, I think this Raiders game will be perhaps the tone setter for the rest of the season. If we don't win this next one, our chances of making the postseason go down drastically IMO. The way I look at it is, we have to win atleast 3 of our next 6. 10 wins should get you in the playoffs but its not a given, 11 is almost a guarantee.

Without Cutler I don't see us going into Minnesota winning that game, but if he indeeds comes back for the last regular season game, I think we are in. If we beat Oakland, I think we are in for sure because after that we get to face Tyler Palko, Tim Tebow, and Tavaris Jackson consecutively before we get to the GB game. The Denver game though does scare me the most after the Raiders because they have a pretty athletic defense that gets after the quarterback and if you let Tim Tebow hang around in the 4th quarter, history has shown he can be pretty tough to handle in clutch time. Assuming Cutler comes back for the Minnesota game, I think we go 11-5. If he doesn't then I say 10-6 which may or may not be enough to make it to the postseason.

Cutler saw a specialist today and there was no displacement of any kind or no tendons torn at all. The only reason he has to have surgery I guess is because the break is near or at the joint of the thumb. Roethlisberger's injury was near the top of the thumb around the nail so it's easier to play through.
-
The question becomes, can Cutler reclaim his rhythm and timing that he lost sitting out that last 5 or 6 weeks? If he doesn't come back until a playoff game, then I'm not so sure about our chances. I think he needs atleast one game to get his feel back for the offense. It has been done before though. I think it was McNabb who broke his ankle and Jeff Garcia lead them through their next 6 before McNabb came back and won a playoff game. I still would like him back for atleast that Minnesota game.
-
My irritation comes from the idiots that jump to such drastic conclusions and claim he's definitely out for the entire season before the BEARS STAFF even looked at him and evaluated him. That's why I wanted to wait until today so the Bears could evaluate his injury, and now that they have, Lovie says he expects him back before the end of the regular season. I don't want my information coming from the reporters speculating his injury as if its a fact on their damn twitter accounts. Now things are looking a whole lot better today than last night, thanks to some actual information coming from the team and their coach.
-
Well I still don't know why he can't delay the surgery if there is no loose tendons and displacement of the bone (Which there wasn't), but it is what it is. Atleast he'll be back before the regular season is over.
-
Well Lovie says they'll get him back before the end of the regular season. That is terrific news. I knew all these idiot reporters talking like he'll be out for the season were ridiculous. I can live with him out until maybe that Packers game or Minnesota game.
-
The only way he risks his career is if his thumb falls off. Other than that, I don't see how a broken thumb is serious enough to sit out 8 games. I just don't.
