I can't stand these two people. Two of the most clueless people I've seen on TV. Dilfer is just flat out ignorant. His reason for the Bears not making it is such a BS argument it's not even funny. He says the Bears can't win in the playoffs because they can't stretch the field and complete 3rd and 7's when it counts. I'm sorry, but why do you have to be able to constantly stretch the field in the playoffs? I've never heard him explain this. Then to say the Bears can't win playing control offense is just flat out ridiculous. I must have missed the rule that says the game changes in the playoffs and control style offense must throw down field.

Starting to get nervous with all these teams 7-3
Bears4Ever_34 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
Standings have been updated. Falcons pull off a lucky win against Tampa Bay in the 4th to go to 10-2. To me, the more I watch Atlanta the more I hope the Bears play them because I don't think they are that good. There defense is pretty horrid and if you stop there running game Matt Ryan is not Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, or Tom Brady. Not scared of them at all. So it's starting to look like atleast Tampa Bay is going to be one of the teams eliminated with another loss or two in the upcoming weeks. Didn't think they were going to get in anyways. Sucks that almost all the teams the Bears are competing with won today. Next week is huge against the Patriots. The other top two teams have a favorable matchup next week so It's important the Bears win next week. The Saints could have a tough one against St Louis and the Vikings are playing pretty well as of late so the Giants could have their hands full next week. -
We have been playing up and down to our competition since the bye. Thankfully we've won all those games despite some poor play. We should play better against New England next week. I'm really looking for the defense to step up this time. We haven't put a complete game together yet where the offense and defense has been clicking. I want to see that next week.
-
Well that was a win but not a good one. The defense played pretty bad for the most part. No way the Lions should be able to put up 20 with a 3rd string QB. However it was the offense yet again that stepped up huge for us. Cutler had another brilliant game as did Earl Bennett. I'm already getting pumped for the Patriots game. Should be a good one!

Absolutely pathetic. If we lose this game, the seasons over.
-
Shaun Hill or not the Bears should win this game handily.

I saw it. All he had to say was the guy said something funny and I cracked a smile. He wasn't laughing at the game so I don't see the big deal. The reporter took things too far and should have just given up after repeating it for the second time.

Haha I hate Steve Young. I saw what he said and had to laugh but I think he kind of a gave us a back handed compliment at the same time. I guess he thinks our defense can carry us to the Superbowl but Cutler needs to take even less risks with the football than he already has. I lol when he said he took too many risks last night. Really Steve? 4 touchdowns? His throws were on the money all night, and its in his DNA to take shots. The only play that I thought was risky was the one he threw off his backfoot to the outside. That was reminiscent of the DeAngelo Hall pick 6 a few weeks ago. The Olsen throw was a good risk to take because you expect Olsen to win that battle, he's 6'5 going against a 5 foot whatever corner. The only time I worry about Cutler is when he drops back and believe he HAS to make a throw downfield to move the chains. Those are the ones that usually result in a pick. Lately he's been very good at protecting the football and when he has nothing he has been taking off running to get whatever he can.
-
He basically gave them no credit. He says the Bears will get exposed in the playoffs because he's played for Tony Dungy's cover 2 system and apparently knows how vulnerable it is even though both Tampa Bay and the Colts won the Superbowl with it. Go figure. This guy is a straight up douchebag

Noots' Notes Game 11: 31-26 Win over Philadelphia
Bears4Ever_34 replied to Noots's topic in Bearstalk
I'm beginning to get that feeling that I did back in 06. It's oddly disturbing of how similar the season is shaping up. When bad Rex started to show up in the 2nd half of the season all of a sudden everybody started jumping off the Bears bandwagon and we became the underdogs going into the playoffs. There are still alot of doubters out there and you can bet they will surface again come playoff time, that is if we are even in them. There is something about the defense that feels different than the 06 team. Julius Peppers has really changed this defensive line into one of the best in the league. I feel like everytime a QB snaps the ball its only a matter of time before Peppers or another Dlineman get to him and force him to get rid of it. Yeah we had Mark Anderson back in 06 but nobody really double teamed him and his physical dominance pales in comparison to Peppers who is athletic enough to rush the quarterback, drop back into coverage, or chase down Michael Vick when he takes off running. His dominance is bringing out the best in Idonije and Henry Melton. We all know the Cover 2 relies heavily on getting pressure from the front 4, and when we don't have to blitz our linebackers all the time it allows Urlacher and Co. to sit back and watch the QB. We have past the first real test so far this year, now we have 3 more against the Pats, Jets, and Packers. If we beat the Patriots, that's about as good of a test as your going to get for the playoffs. The Jets don't worry me as much because I think the Bears can handle there offense pretty well, and if we can play offense like we did tonight we will be fine. The Packers scare me the most because their obviously in our division and we play them at Lambeau. I tell you what though, if our defense gets after it the way they did today, Aaron Rodgers is going to have a tough time getting his timing down to throw to his receivers. The Bears are the best takeaway team in the league and it's not by accident. We'll see how things play out over the last 5 games. Go Bears! -

Yes but Peyton Manning is also the greatest quarterback of All-Time. The Colts play the exact same scheme as the Bears do and they won. We also had Rex Grossman.. and alot of injuries to our key players on defense. We'll see what Brady can do here in a couple of weeks. But the notion that this defensive scheme doesn't work in the playoffs is just dumb. It's been proven by the Colts and the Buccaneers already that you can win with it. The Bears are making teams one dimensional every week and when they make you grind to get your points sooner or later the Bears are going to force a turnover, it's just a matter of time. The Bears ran into the hottest quarterback in the league right now and pretty much contained him all night. If it weren't for a lucky late TD pass (That should have been picked or batted down) this would have been a blowout. -
Well unless the Bears fail to make the playoffs I don't see Lovie going anywhere next year. He's got one year left on his deal IIRC so he'll most likely get another year to prove he deserves another contract. IMO we have to make the playoffs both years for me to be okay with giving him a new deal, and I don't mean just getting there. We need to do some damage. A Superbowl win would be nice

Records have been updated ^^. I think I'm just going to keep this going the rest of the season so people can quickly take a look at how the playoffs are setting up. With that said, we caught a big break by the Packers losing. We took care of our business and are now 2 games ahead of Green Bay. The Bucs losing is big as is the Eagles who we now hold the tiebreaker against. The only thing better would have been seeing the Saints and Giants lose to really give us an edge. So now there are 5 games left on the season and the Bears go to Detroit next week. We can't get ahead of ourselves and take this team lightly. They are playing decent football but just aren't winning. We need to go out and make a statement early like today and take care of business. The Bucs are really the only team I see next week that has a tough game on the schedule. The Falcons look like they will probably go 14-2 or 13-3 with the easiest schedule left between all of the contending teams. -
Noots' Notes Game 11: 31-26 Win over Philadelphia

The Bears are 8-3 not 8-4.. Anyways.. I thought this was Cutler's best game he's ever played for the Bears. He was on target all night and made some big runs again that kept the chains moving. I love Martz's play calling right now and it's paying big dividends. I have not seen Forte run like that since his rookie days. This, also might have been Forte's best game as a Bear. He found a hole and made the quick move through the LOS and got some big runs for us. The offensive line was both good and bad. Early in the first half, after we scored our first two TD's they really came unraveled and were the sole reason the Eagles were able to put some points on the board. They put our defense in bad situations. The biggest factor in today's game other than Cutler's performance was the defensive line. Man oh man did they play well. Melton, Idonije, and Peppers played fantastic and Tommie Harris finally made a big play that changed the game for us when it looked like the Eagles were about to take the lead. Just an overall well played game from all phases. For the people that want to gripe about how both of there CB's were out for today's game and we were lucky, that's total garbage. Nobody made excuses for the Bears when they lost 2 games without Briggs this year, two games that we had no business losing. I don't want to hear it. -

Dilfer says Bears will be exposed in the playoffs. Shocker.. -
Meanwhile, Henry Melton is becoming a beast! Seriously, I love this kids motor.

This solidified my belief in this team. The score doesn't indicate how much we dominated them. The last TD was a joke and makes the game look close but Peppers was absolutely amazing in this game. The entire defensive line stepped up big time. How many 6'8 285 pound guys can catch Michael Vick from behind? Not too mention like 3 separate times!

Finish this freakin game I'm sick of this Vick luck. Talk about the longest quarter ever. Get the onside kick and take three knees and then game over. -

Forte should have caught that but that was an obvious pass interference or illegal contact on Sims that wasn't called. Cutler had a right to be pissed and then the BS personal foul was garbage. Bears need a turnover or turnover on downs here! -

The defense can't let up. Good job there by only allowing the 3 but I'd like to see them get another turnover or a turnover on downs would be huge. Now the Bears need one more long play drive for a score here and I'd feel alot safer. -

What a huge swing in a matter of minutes. The Bears finally forced Vick into a pick just like I thought they would but then they made him pay the ultimate price and scored a TD on offense. 14 point swing right there. The Bears have all the momentum now. They get the ball to start the half, they need to come out on fire and put these guys away! I'd like to see the defense really get after it and force Vick into some more turnovers! -
