I'd probably go with Atogwe because he is a younger option over Sharper, although Sharper is the ball hawk Lovie likes in a cover 2 defense. The only problem is, and Sharper said it himself, the Cover 2 doesn't allow you to roam around for those interceptions so his numbers would go down if he switched to a Cover 2 again. Mike Brown made it work, we need somebody to solidify that position and then hopefully through the draft we are able to find a diamond in the rough for that secondary.

I thought Boldin could be had for a 3rd round pick? If that's the case wouldn't you rather give them a 3rd rounder as opposed to offering Olsen for Boldin straight up? Also something else people don't consider. Cutler and Olsen are supposedly best buds, how pissed off would Cutler be if the Bears traded him away? And how does that affect any decision making of the Bears front office in regards to dealing Olsen?
-
Here's another question. Even if we go ALL IN this offseason, does that mean we go bankrupt for the next 5 years? These are huge deals that were talking about here, even though it's an uncapped year that could set us back the next couple of years spending wise and that might not be good.
-
This doesn't neccesarily mean Olsen is gone. I highly doubt the Bears just give him up for a 2nd round pick. Unless he's in a trade for Brandon Marshall I don't see why we would trade him. He will still be a TE but probably line up more as a WR in Martz's offense.

Julius Peppers and Chester Taylor to visit Halas Hall on Friday per Tribune.
-
I'm going to refuse to believe anything until it's official. Shefter just said on ESPN that the Bears are the front runner for Peppers.
-
Great. So we aren't going to end up with either. Somehow I knew this would happen. God Damn it!
-
Wow. Sounds like Peppers is a Redskin. Of course, that idiot Snyder buys his team every year and they always suck and will continue to suck. I sure hope this doesn't mean Kampman and his bad knee..
-
I've softened a little on Boldin. He's 30 years old now, but if it's just a 3rd round pick, F$#% we might as well just sell all our picks since we have so little to begin with haha.
-
Wasn't Rolle originally a cornerback? I forget the reason he was moved to safety. Was it because he was bad in coverage or just because he was slower than you want a CB to be?
-
Wow. So much for the Bears being cheap. Omg if they can sign Peppers and Rolle we would be in GREAT shape! I hope this happens
-
Soldier Field is the smallest in the NFL? I didn't know that. That has got to change!
-
How great would it be to if we ended up signing Peppers and Rolle, and traded Olsen for either Boldin or BM? OMG Talk about crazy pipe dream but it's still in the small realm of possibility. If that actually happened, I'd book tickets for the superbowl!
-
Peppers would be great but it sucks he's already 30. I don't know how many more years he has left to being a great player. But he'd certainly make our defense so much better next year if he ends up signing with us. He's great in pass coverage and obviously rushing the passer.

I had a dream last night that Devin Hester threw a pass to Devin Aromashodu for a touchdown the first play of the season

Martz envisions Hester as a dominant slot receiver
Bears4Ever_34 replied to Wesson44's topic in Bearstalk
Hester has always been the perfect slot receiver but Knox kind of is too. I think slot receivers need to have some bulk on them though to take hits and Hester has that over Knox. Though Knox has the ability of a Desean Jackson to become an eventual #2 maybe #1 receiver. I agree with Martz our receiving core is fine. -

I agree. Martz' system is completely different than that of Turner's. His scheme is purely based on timing and where receivers are "supposed to be." It took the Bears about 14 games for Cutler to finally get in sync with his WR's. If it takes that long next year we won't make the playoffs. My hope is that D.A becomes our #1 guy and can put up 80 catches and 1000 yards while Johnny Knox emerges as the speedy "YAC" receiver like an Az Akeem except better. Forte is going to have a career year catch the ball out of the backfield. I have a feeling Martz will use him similar to how he used Faulk. He will have him lineup as a WR several times throughout the game and he'll actually have to catch the ball running routes and not just out of the flat. It'll be interesting to see how this works but if Forte can put up over 600-700 yards receiving, we will be a very dangerous offense.
-
Nah, no thanks.
-
Devin Aromashodu is going to be a pro bowler next year; more than likely he gets over 1,000 yards but I still don't think the Bears make the playoffs..
-
He'll throw for more yards but he'll throw just as many if not more (which is scary to think) int's than last year! Cutler is the exact opposite of a QB you want to work with Martz. Can you imagine how many sacks Cutler will have with Martz's 7 step drops?! Oh my god I don't even want to think about that with our awful offensive line. But I'll go ahead and play nice and predict his stats like the rest of you.. TD's: 31 INT's: 25 Yards: 4200 1,000,000 sacks..

Doesn't matter because in a year this entire staff will be all gone INCLUDING LOVIE because Bill Cowher is coming to town to bring Chi-Town another Superbowl
-
Well then that definitely means Lovie will be gone after next year, and so will Martz. This offense will NOT work with Cutler and the Bears. I've said this before but the offense he made famous was because he had 2 Hall of Fame players and 2 Pro Bowl wide receivers. It's also about being accurate with the football and throwing to a spot. That sounds like a disaster to me when you think of Cutler and our receivers.. Hope I'm wrong but I am not thrilled with this move.

Only if it was a 7th rounder, otherwise no.

Bears Have Informal Agreement with Cowher
Bears4Ever_34 replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
If that is the case I would think Lovie would already be on his way packing. If your going to do it a year from now you might as well just get it done with now if Cowher has already agreed (Which is highly unlikely considering he said he'd never talk about a job with a team that already has a coach). I have always been hoping for Cowher but I don't believe this report.
