  1. This week is huge for alot of reasons. #1- it's the Packers, #2- we have a chance to be the lead dog in our division, and #3- this win will undoubtedly give us the credibility and validity we've all been asking for. If we beat Green Bay, a team many consider to be in the Superbowl, It will not only make more people notice the Bears are back but it will also tell all of us that we can compete against the best. We just faced a tough Dallas team with an elite QB in Tony Romo, now we get Aaron Rodgers and his group of talented receivers.
  2. I'll just make it real short and sweet. The biggest difference makers so far this season have been our linebackers being healthy (Pisa and Urlacher), Julius Peppers, and Mike Martz. He's made our offense a lot more respectable than they have been since our 06 Superbowl run when we had a great tandem at RB and we had a great play action game with Grossman and Berrian. But this offense has twice the potential that that offense had, given we have Cutler and a much better play caller in Martz.
  3. I think holding DA out because of his drops is ridiculous. He got destroyed in the Lions game, alot of his drops were because he got hit as soon as he touched the ball. Alot of receivers would do the same. The one drop he had in the endzone was pretty bad I must say but no where near enough to hold him out for a game because of it. He's the best all around receiver on this team and is a guy that's going to receive the majority of the passes from Jay Cutler because he's a bigger target and can use his athleticism to come down with the ball. He's the #1 with Knox #2.
  4. DJ Moore impressed me. He was always around the ball and that's what you have to do to be a good defensive back in this league. As long as your around the ball anything can happen, especially when you have Tillman knocking the ball out every game. I would like to see Chester Taylor used more as a running back though. Forte has done well in the passing game but he needs to step it up when it comes to running the ball. He goes down too easily on first contact. He definitely should have gotten that 1 yard on that 3rd down but the defensive tackle swiped at his shoe laces and that shouldn't be enough to bring down an NFL running back much less not being able to get that 1 yard.
  5. Hester has a lot of work to do as a receiver before we start calling him a true receiver. He made a great play on the one handed catch but had some miscues as well that could have really hurt the Bears as well. He needs to be a more disciplined blocker and needs be more of a deep threat on long passes. He's the perfect slot receiver at catching slants and drag routes but he often times fails to come up and catch the deep ball when it's there for him. I was glad to see Martz making the necessary adjustments to allow the bears to run an effective offense. I would have liked to see more screen plays to keep the pressure off Jay but Martz did an excellent job at spreading the defense out and going into empty sets. The play to Olsen was a huge momentum shift that settled us down and that was when I realized we finally have a good offensive coordinator. Think if we actually had one of the better offensive lines we would be lights out. If anything I came away with the impression that Cutler really likes Martz's offense and trusts him which is a huge key and something he didn't have with Ron Turner. There is still a long way to go in the season so I don't want to get ahead of myself but right now Cutler looks very promising. The running game really needs to get it going though. The defense is also playing pretty well which comes as a bit of a shock to me. The linebacking play has been outstanding. Urlacher/Briggs/Tinoisamoa have all played terrific, especially Briggs. Peppers didn't get a sack today but you can tell the offense is making it a priority to double team him and sometimes put a chip on him alot of the time so even though he didn't get a sack, his presence was felt. Now he's gotta come out Monday night and get about 3 sacks on Aaron Rodgers. That would be excellent.
  6. Now if he can stop slipping every time a receiver comes out of his break I'd be a lot more comfortable. But yes, he is incredible at getting the ball out.
  7. We seriously need a running back. One first down there and it would have been game over. Now were changing up the defense again and letting romo just play catch with his receivers 25 yards down field... Unreal.
  8. Forte is just pathetic at getting 1 yard when he needs to. It's time for Chester Taylor. That's just a play that should result in a first down.
  9. Hester with two bad plays on that drive. First one, he should have caught that ball, and he didn't block on the play to Forte on 3rd down. Gotta be better than that.
  10. Wow are you kidding me? That's ridiculous. He still had 5 catches for 71 yards and is Cutler's go to guy. I put him in as a starter for my fantasy team and now they are putting him in the dog house. ugh...
  11. Defense has to pick up! They can't stop anything..
  12. God damn it. Now our defense is starting to suck...
  13. Peppers needs to bring some pressure on Romo. We need to get him rattled.
  14. Sometimes I wonder how these guys are in the NFL. You got Demarcus Ware who is clearly one of the better pass rushers in the NFL and the offensive line takes 20 years to react to him bull rushing around the corner. I simply cannot fathom how a tackle cannot get out there and hit the guy in the center of the chest. Our lineman are barely getting a hand on him and when the do it's to the side of his body. It's ridiculous!
  15. Well there goes the only lead we'll ever have in this game. Shitty Special teams play.
  16. The Bears need to be running a crap ton of screens today with the lack of protection this offensive line has given Cutler. That and short drop backs are a must now.
  17. Our offensive line is so bad. Dallas is destroying us up front. Its embarrassing.
  18. How the hell did they miss that flagrant Facemask?!?
  19. The Peppers fine was a joke and a half. The league and Goodell should be embarrassed for doing what they did. I have to LOL just thinking about how retarded it is. He swiped him on the helmet, so what?! haha pretty soon the league is going to institute a rule that makes touching the quarterback in anyway illegal.
  20. I'll go Bears in another close game 24-21. Robbie Gould wins it on a game winning field goal during our final drive right before the end of regulation. Contrary to what I thought in our first game against the Lions, I actually think the Bears will come out and play really well for the first half but in the 2nd half they begin to give up some points to the Dallas O. I think Knox will kill them all game and have over 100 yards. DA and Forte will also get involved quite often as well. I don't think we will run the ball very well though because we aren't used to running against a 3-4 and Dallas likes to bring pressure alot. I don't feel like our offensive line nor Matt Forte are good enough to really do much of anything on the ground. Chester Taylor will probably fair better than Forte in the run game but who knows how many carries he'll get. Like I said in the 1st half I think the Bears will strike first and our defense will come out like they did against the Lions and play really well. Peppers will get 2 sacks and force another fumble. I think the Bears will also force a pick in the 1st half that will lead to a field goal or touchdown on our next drive. However in the 2nd half I think Romo starts connecting on too many easy passes to Miles Austin and they strike quickly at the beginning of the 2nd half. The Bears offense will stall all the way through the 3rd and into the 4th quarter and allow Dallas to get back into the game throwing the ball all over the field and when that happens one of there running backs will get it going enough to bring them close to another score. I think the Bears will have the lead the entire game until very late when the Cowboys kick a tying field goal and make the Bears drive down the field in there 2 minute drill. I believe Cutler will step up and connect on a few passes that will allow for a Robbie Gould game winning field goal to send the Bears home with a victory! Cutler- 22-37 315 yards 2 TD's 1 INT Knox- 7 rec 120 yards 1 TD DA- 4 rec 63 yards 1 TD Olsen- 3 rec 31 yards Hester- 2 rec 25 yards Forte- 4 rec 56 yards; 14 carries 48 yards 1 TD Taylor 2 rec 20 yards 2 carries 18 yards
  21. The two most important keys to the game are protecting Jay Cutler and getting to Tony Romo on the other side of the ball. If we can manage that we will put points on the board and create some turnovers. Dallas' receivers are too good and will eat us alive if we can't get pressure on Romo, and when I say pressure I really mean sacks. He's extraordinarily good at evading tackles in the pocket so it's imperative that we bring him down before he can get rid of the ball. I'm not so worried about there running backs. I think our defense is best at stopping the run anyways, especially with our linebackers and our safeties are better in run support than pass coverage.
  22. The offense stepped up late and that was good but for the most part they have alot of work to do. Moving the ball they did well, but gave up too many turnovers, too many dropped passes and the goal line failure in the 4th was ridiculous and should never happen in professional football. With that said the defense was impressive. Julius Peppers came up huge for us on that sack/fumble, the linebackers were outstanding- both Urlacher and Briggs played like animals. We're going to need that next week against Dallas who's miles better than Detroit. I didn't notice the secondary much and that's a good thing. The sad part is that when it came down to crunch time the defense failed. Regardless of what the final score says, the Bears really lost this game but lucked out because of a terrible call. The thing I've never understood and never will is when it gets down to the 2 minute drill and a team is forced to throw the ball down the field, the common thing to do is to back up and basically invite a team to throw the ball for 15 yards over the middle whenever they please. It's so stupid! The feeling is, you don't want to give up the big play.. well when your defense has shut down Calvin Johnson for the entire game and the other QB hasn't thrown for over 100 yards in the game why would you change up what you're doing? The offensive line played better than they did in preseason but it's no where near good enough to win against the above average to elite defenses in the NFL. The Cowboys defense is one of the best at getting pressure on the QB so Martz has to design alot of max protections to help protect Cutler from Demarcus Ware and Co. I saw our line get manhandled for most of the game in the running game. There were very few times when the OL got a push up front. I can't remember if one or two of Cutler's sacks were a result of him holding onto the ball for too long.
