  1. Sigh... Why did they trade up?? I thought they were going to take Hargreaves..
  2. I just have a feeling that the Bears will take Elliott. Elliott or Lawson are the two I can see being in a Bears uniform the most. I don't really have a guy in this draft. I hope the Bears stick with taking the best player available, whoever that is.
  3. Hoyer is a perfect backup quarterback. I'd love this signing. They need a proven guy to backup Cutler.
  4. Color me surprised to find out he's already 28, going to be 29 during the year. No thanks. Keep building through the draft, Ryan.
  5. It's actually 4 primetime games. You forgot Dallas in Week 3. I'm frickin pumped!
  6. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0309-story.html Now this would make me angry. Please don't pay money to a RB....
  7. Good signing, but I hope the Bears don't start shelling out money just because they have the room. Stick with the Packer model.
  8. If true, there's no way I'm taking him on Day 1 or 2. His career is probably already over if he has nerve damage. Remember what happened to Marcus Lattimore.
  9. True class act. I wish him the best. I was torn on the decision. I thought the Bears had a nice 3 man team with Forte, Langford, and Carey at RB, but obviously the front office wanted to get younger and move in a different direction. Can't say I'm surprised.
  10. You also have to factor in both players were coming off significant injuries this year, so it makes sense that both started off the year slowly and picked it up as the season went on. Young also had to learn an entirely new position. If you figure they come in next year healthier, they should be even better. Young probably could have had another double digit sack season. I would bring both back next year.
  11. Just saw that come up. Did he say something that got him fired? This doesn't make much sense.
  12. Only Jay could turn a great year into a mediocre one. Those 3 picks really make his stats look ordinary.
  13. That's the 7th time the Bears have allowed a TD on the opening drive, IIRC. That leads the league. I don't know why the defer anymore. It's always an automatic TD.
  14. Marc Mariani and Josh Bellamy are the starting WR's for the game... Why not give Fales a shot? What's the point of having Cutler out there with JV talent in a meaningless game?
  15. It's hard for me to see Gase not getting a gig next year with so many possible openings. That IND job has him written all over it. I think Logains is the logical Gase replacement. Mike McCoy would be the guy if he gets fired in SD.
  16. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...102-column.html From David Haugh's article. Not surprising. This stuff came from Dan Bernstein about a month ago. Jeffery doesn't have many friends in Chicago because he's so shy, and he wasn't very happy when Marshall got traded. This injury stuff sure looks like it's derived from a lack of focus and work ethic. It's his way of pouting to get what he wants. My question is, do you now franchise him in order to trade him? Or do you still want to keep him around? Isn't there a transition tag or something where you can get two 1st's if a team bids on a player who is tagged? I would take two firsts for Jeffery if it came down to it. I really don't want to lose homegrown talent, because those are the types you are suppose to keep around, but if he's going to be a baby about everything, I would rather get something for him and let Pace use a couple extra high picks to rebuild the team.
  17. The problem in Philly was that they gave in to his demands and made him the defacto GM. He did nothing to earn that title. I'd like to see him in Tennessee with an actual quarterback that is built for his system. Vick was the only true dual threat QB he had in his tenure as HC, but he was already in the twilight of his career and couldn't stay healthy. That said, I think he'll end up going back to a college team.
  18. I didn't expect them to lose out, so I'm not shocked that they won today. It would really suck, though, if they won next week.
  19. Have to franchise tag him, IMO. Or, I don't know what's allowed in the CBA, but if they were to do a long term incentive-laden deal that protects them in case of injury, that would be ideal. Forte and Cutler basically called him out this week and said he needs to do a better job taking care of his own body after games/practices. This soft-tissue stuff usually becomes an issue when guys aren't doing pre-hab or body maintenance to keep it from becoming a routine occurrence. Furthermore, isn't it weird that this is happening during a contract year? Usually, it's the opposite. A guy always wants to make sure he's out there during game day to maximize his earning potential. Alshon just comes off to me as lazy, which is something scouts were concerned with when he was coming out of the draft. I'd franchise him for one year, and if this stuff continues, I would trade him before next year's deadline, or just flat out let him walk.
  20. Patrick Willis or Navarro Bowman were pretty good playmakers for Fangio's defense in SF. I don't know if there is a singular position on the defense that is any more important than another. You just need quality everywhere, and right now, the Bears have zero quality ILB's on the roster. And I'm not necessarily advocating they need to draft an ILB with the first pick, either. They have way too many needs to be picky about one position. I want them to go with the best available guy. If it were up to me, I'd rather spend my FA money on the offensive line, so that they can focus on drafting those play makers they desperately need on defense.
  21. As John Fox would say, "It's all a problem." I would say though that ILB is their biggest issue right now. They have no starting ILB's. I also think that if they move Kyle Long back to guard, he should be fine. We know Slauson is a quality guard, and I still like what Leno has been able to do this year as well. Faboluje is an interesting prospect.. They have some guys on that O-Line that could still have futures here, and I didn't even mention Grasu. That said, they have to add more talent to that group next year. There is no question about it.
  22. He was the only ILB I can remember the last few games that actually got penetration in the backfield on a few runs today. He's their best ILB already.
