How far could Griese take us realistically?
Bears4Ever_34 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
Uhm, find me where I said Kyle Orton should start? Quit puting words in my mouth. I never said ONCE that Kyle Orton was a better player than Rex Grossman. Since week 6 Grossman has been up and down the rest of the season and its a cause for concern since we are the number 1 seed in the playoffs. You clearly exagerate everything I say. I really don't know how to respond when all of your comments do not revert back to my thoughts which are Orton can be a good player if he gets time and he shouldn't be thrown under the bus completley by most Bear fans. -

Im not sure what you don't understand. Kyle Orton was a rookie last year that lead us to 10 wins which IIRC only 1 other rookie has done that and that is Ben Roethlisberger. I never said start Orton, what I said was I wouldn't be suprised if he works hard this summer on improving his skills he can become a solid NFL quarterback. The defense has been a huge part of Rex's wins this season for instance the WHOLE Arizona game. I don't seem to remember our defense coming out that big for Orton last year. I think our defense is (was before injuries) more dominate than last seasons. Rex has only a few more games under his belt than Orton does because of his history of injuries but the way he played against Greenbay cannot be dismissed and Griese and Orton have just as much hope to play in the playoffs as Rex does because he certainly didn't prove it last week. With all of this said, I want Rex as our playoff starter. He is capable of driving us to the Superbowl. -

That Orton did this as a rookie and Grossman did it in his 4th year as a pro. -
The Bears would be foolish to let go of Lovie Smith right now. The only way I would consider looking for a new coach is if Lovie and the Bears don't get it done this season and next season as far as winning a few playoff games. If the Bears lose their first game this season then you can start to worry and I would say you could start talking if they repeat that next year.

You do realize Kyle Orton was a rookie last year right? Who's to say he doesnt become a solid Quarterback in the future? I wouldn't be suprised if Kyle keeps working he doesnt become a starter if not for the Bears then someone else in the NFL. I wouldn't be suprised at all. He still "Managed" to get us 10 wins last year something which very few quarterbacks have done other than Ben Roethlesberger. -

To me, It doesn't matter which of the 3 we use its just the idea that we can't have turnovers especially from our quarterback or we get games like last Sunday. The sad part about this game was that we had such success running the ball that we went away from it and Benson only got 9 carries on a night he should have had over 20. In the playoffs the Bears better find a better gameplan rather than let Rex win it or lose it for us, go with what the Bears are known for and that is "Run the football". I expect Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson to have one hell of a game 2 weeks from now if we decide to pound it in. I for one could live with running the football 30+ times and losing the game rather than throwing the ball 30+ times and losing. If teams shut down the run the Bears are in trouble. -
(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GRIESE VS REX THREAD, I just wanted to see your opinions on if Griese were to start which we all know he won't how far COULD he take us?) IMO, I think he could take us to atleast the NFC championship game but somewhere along the line we are going to face a good offense and our defense is going to need alot of help. I just don't think Griese could give us the firepower that Grossman gives us when he is on.

If I had to pick out of the three I would rather play the Giants. For one I don't trust Eli Manning and he can always have a terrible game especially in Bear land. Tiki in my mind is really the only one that could hurt us but I will take that risk instead of going up against Hasselbeck and Alexander or Romo and Owens. I just feel that the Giants don't really have that much momentum despite their win on Saturday, they look like a team in turmoil and they could break at any point come playoffs. I hope whoever we play comes off of a close low scoring game like 17-14 so that they can't feel to confident coming into Chicago.

Charles Barkley said that. And I would have to go with the whole Arizona Cardinals game. I remember I kept my composure untill about the beginning of the 3rd where Rex through another pick. I gave up on them, and then Mark Anderson sacks Lienart and then Urlacher made Edge fumble and finally Devin Hester's return. Even then, the Cardinals still had a chance to win the game but Rackers missed the fieldgoal. The single most greatest comeback I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.

Fella's remember we are in the NFC anything is possible. With that said, the way we played last night makes me wonder if we could even compete with the other top seeds in the playoffs. One and done again, and somebody loses a job.

Yeah it kind of makes me a little upset that the game will be at night rather than 12:00, but I didnt really have big plans anyways, just invite a few friends over and have a Halo tourny -
Merry Christmas everyone, hope you had a good one.

Im not saying I dissagree and I doubt Hester wins it but IMO he deserves it even though its pretty clear a special teamer doesnt win this type of award. It will be Vince Young.
-
As of today I think Hester still remains at the top. 1. Hester 2. Young 3. Anderson
-
The Titans won by 1 point..
-
I was one of them, Ill admit it Im so glad we didnt!
-
How big of a field goal was that for Gould?
-
Yeah nice play by Devin but he missplayed that. He should have been in front of Williams.
-
OMG Mike Williams drops it again!!
-
Ne one else see Anderson getting held on that 4th down play?
-
Gould again!
-
He is better than Ogunleye, IMO
-
freakin MARK ANDERSON ANOTHER SACK AND FORCED FUMBLE!!

Yay, Bears lead 23-21
