  1. I've predicted 10 wins each of the last two years, lol. Although, in fairness to myself, the Bears lost 3 games in historic fashion last year that would have given them 10, and this year, there's been at least 2. Having Matt Eberflus as your head coach is worth at least 3 extra losses a season.
  2. Ah, yeah, that makes sense. Speaking of Stroud: I still have high hopes for Stroud, but his struggles make you realize that nobody is a finished product, even after 1 great season. Same can be said for his OC, Bobby Slowik, who was a hot name in last year's cycle. Consistency is really important for coaches, too.
  3. I knew he had to be close to some sort of record, but I didn't know Kyler Murray was the record holder. I thought CJ Stroud broke it last year.
  4. Maintaining that 2:1 TD/INT ratio and keeping his interceptions in the single digits would be a nice achievement for a rookie season.
  5. I lean towards a Lions blowout, but I honestly wouldn't be all that surprised if the Bears won this game, either. They almost always play the Lions well, even when they've been terrible. No Hutchinson; Lions are historically not very good on Thanksgiving.. We'll know pretty early on what kind of game we're getting. I just hope Caleb can continue to play well against elite competition.
  6. Welp, we're 2 games in and Thomas Brown has now coordinated the two best games of Caleb's career in consecutive weeks against two great defenses.
  7. If it weren't for the 6 drops, he would have had close to 400 yards passing, too, on top of everything else he did. Bears have their QB. Daniels, again, with another bad game today against a rotten team. Nix has played well, but Caleb is still the most talented and best quarterback of this class if you give him respectable coaching.
  8. Suffering through the Eberflus era is like if Denver held on to Hackett for 3 years and missed out on Sean Payton. Worst coach in the history of the franchise. Worse than Fox or Trestman.
  9. They didn't already have Odunze before they traded for Allen. The draft came afterwards. Had they not traded for Keenan, and then somebody else took Rome before #9, every Bears fan would have been livid at Poles for not doing enough to give Caleb talent to work with.
  10. Jets have to be the biggest disappointments in years, probably since the Eagles "dream team." I didn't see either PIT or MIN playing as well as they have, given their QB situation. Mike Tomlin, once again, showing you why he's a top 5 HC. If Eberflus was the coach of that team, their record might be flipped. DAL and JAX was somewhat predictable, though maybe not quite to this extent. JAX lost Ridley and were already trending in the wrong direction at the end of last year. DAL pulled a CHI and brought back a lame duck HC who everyone thought was getting fired, and then lost Dan Quinn. Frankly, they've been beating up on their crappy division for years. They were due for a course correction.
  11. If Caleb comes out of this game without a turnover, he should be given a medal. Most likely will be the toughest test for him this season, given what Flores likes to do. I expect a very similar gameplan to today with a lot of screens and quick passes to avoid catastrophic sacks.
  12. This is one move I don't fault Poles for. I hated the Bates trade. At least Allen was coming off a career year, albeit at age 32. For a 4th round pick, I felt like that was fair compensation at the time, and the Bears didn't know if they'd be able to draft Odunze yet. Obviously, it's turned out to be a terrible decision, but didn't hate the reasoning behind it. It's bizarre how the drop off could be this significant in 1 season right after the best season of his career. Has to be the heel.
  13. Maybe. It helps that he's 2 years older and has Sean Payton. He's having a good year, but doesn't possess any special traits. They've been doing a lot of the Commanders stuff with the short passing game, but Denver's defense has been great all season.
  14. I still think when he's been at his best, he looks more dominate than any of the other rookie QB's have looked. The deep ball accuracy is the only glaring issue I'd put squarely on him. It needs to substantially improve. That said, the coaching deficit between Eberflus and Quinn/Payton cannot be overstated. It's bottom 5 vs top 10.
  15. The only thing that matters the rest of this season is how the quarterback looks. Thomas Brown was excellent today. If Caleb continues to look like he did today against this type of competition the rest of the season, the Bears should absolutely give Brown a hard look at HC in the off-season.
  16. Yeah, I knew it was blocked, but it looked like a low kick, which I'd put on Santos. The blocking also might have hosed up too, I'm not sure. Either way, it's yet again another example of poor late game execution in critical moments.
  17. This organization always invents new ways to lose games and freak over their young quarterbacks. Caleb should already have 2 come from behind wins already as a rookie and his head coach blew both of them, just like he blew the 3 games last year with Fields at QB the year previous. Defense, once again blows a late lead. QB does his job saving the defense by getting them into FG range, and then, of course, their kicker fucks it up and the HC, mismanages the play before by punting on the opportunity to gain a couple more yards before calling a timeout. Packers are the luckiest organization ever. I'm convinced they could try to lose against the Bears and still win at this point. They were outplayed for the majority of the game and still won. freak them, freak this franchise, and freak Matt Eberflus. I can't wait until we never have to see him and Poles again.
  18. Hey, at least Jayden Daniels is starting to come back down to earth a little bit He really hasn't been very good since coming back from his injury.
  19. With Billings out, this feels like a game Lafleur will try to run it down our throats with Jacobs. Wouldn't be surprised if they gained over 200 yards on the ground. All I care about the rest of this season is mitigating as much damage as possible on Caleb. That means limiting his pass attempts to keep him from getting killed and running the ball more than 50% of the time. Just get him into next season healthy so Ben Johnson or Kingsbury have something to work with after the inevitable coaching reset in January.
  20. Detroit is such a well oiled machine right now that if they weren't in the division, they'd be an easy team to root for. I've really admired what DeMeco Ryans has done in Houston. Big fan of what they did drafting Stroud and pairing him up with Will Anderson. They were an embarrassment after the Watson scandal, and within a year, they've become SB contenders. It's amazing what can happen when you hire a good coach. The Bears should try that sometime.
  21. Totally agree about not playing Caleb until the OL gets healthier or Matt Eberflus and Waldron are fired. His HC seems to be on a mission to get his quarterback killed at the end of games. This is twice in two weeks they've allowed him to take hits in garbage time.
  22. The information about Nate Davis was readily available online about Vrabel's disdain for his practice habits. The memo apparently didn't get to Poles. That was a mistake waiting to happen, and I called it out immediately the day he was signed. I'd love to know just how much background research Poles actually does on the players he signs or trades for, because Claypool and Davis were two pretty obvious poor character guys, and he pulled the trigger anyway.
  23. For me, the choice for HC is either Johnson or Kingsbury, with Johnson being far and away the preferred favorite. Knowing the Bears, though, they won't even look at Johnson because of his supposed salary demands, and they'll pass on Kingsbury despite his connection to Caleb, because he's too Hollywood for a MaCaskey. It'll probably be another understated good-old-boy who speaks in cliches and acronyms.
  24. Silver lining: Caleb has been sacked 18 times the last 3 games and somehow didn't turn the ball over once while trailing 99% of the time. That's really hard to do. He also hasn't thrown a touchdown since the London game. Put simply: We wasted a season of this kid's career because our idiot GM couldn't move off of an obvious bad coach that nobody would have hired had he been on the market. The irony that he said on the MaCafee show last year that he was hired to break a cycle, only to find himself continuing said cycle. Hate this for Caleb. I still have high hopes for him, but you really have to consider throwing Tyson Bagent to the wolves if they don't do anything about Eberflus the rest of this season while the O-Line continues to be in shambles.
  25. DJ Moore's effort and body language has been a disgrace this season. If you watch JT Osullivan's videos, he's been on DJ's ass since pre-season half-assing his routes and not blocking downfield. At the very least, he should be suspended for a game and have his captain status revoked. That kind of behavior can never be tolerated and should be made an example of. Quite frankly, Rome is already better than him, and should be our #1. Keenan Allen is washed. If they could get a 2nd round pick for DJ, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.
