  1. He has his faults, but he's still been to two Superbowls and won 1 of them. Can't knock him for that. I still think he's an excellent head coach despite missing the playoffs the last 2 years. Sometimes coaches need a change of scenery like players do.
  2. I would probably rather keep Marc Trestman than hire that psycho. Mike Tomlin is a situation worth monitoring. I don't think he gets fired unless his team completely collapses down the stretch. They lost to a bad Saints team last week at home, and they haven't made the playoffs since Tim Tebow was a starting QB if my memory serves me correctly.. A game which they lost by the way. If he's available, I would put him right up there with Harbaugh. He's won a Superbowl before, granted he inherited an already Superbowl talented roster after Cowher left, but still. He's another guy with HC experience that gets respect from his players. 1) Harbaugh 2) Tomlin 3) Ryan 4) Bowles 5) Sumlin
  3. I would take him in a heartbeat, but would make sure Harbaugh isn't an option first. Could you imagine what it would be like to have Rex as the HC and his brother Rob as the DC? lol
  4. I would like to see what Kadeem Carey can do the last 3 games of the year. There's no reason to play Matt Forte anymore. I would rest any important player the last 2 games of the year as to avoid what happened with Brandon Marshall last night or what happened to Brian Urlacher several years ago when that idiot Major Wright took out his knee in a game that only screwed up their draft pick... Forte, while productive, isn't a guy that D-coordinators are going to lose sleep over. It's weird ranking him among RB's because he is so productive yet I wouldn't take him over like 10 other RB's in this league if I had the choice. He is a better pass catcher than he is a runner, and he seems to have lost what little explosiveness he used to have as a young player. The future at RB is right around the corner. Give Kadeem Carey a chance. There's no risk. Let's see what Marquess Wilson can do in the last 3 games with Marshall out. Let's see if any of these young LB'ers can show out (I doubt it). Sit Chris Conte for good.
  5. According to the guys on the Score (I know) Trestman's job is safe and the football Czar thing has no shot of happening. The Bears are looking for reasons to not fire anybody. The best you'll get is probably Mel Tucker, but that begs the question: Which good D-coordinator would want this job as a potential 1 year stay with Trestman as a lame duck coach? Nobody. I see them promoting Pasquloni (sp?) or Hoke to DC and that's about it. Next year is already wasted if this happens. Typical Bears though.
  6. Exactly. It all starts at the very top. Phil Emery cannot continue to make decisions for this franchise as he has made them worse since he has taken over. What was that graphic they showed in the Packers vs Bears game where they showed how many Packers players were homegrown? Like 90% of their players were drafted by them, where as the Bears have so little players on their team that were originally drafted by the team. They have built their team around free agency because of their terrible drafting... Just shows you how different these two franchises are. If you allow Emery to select a Head Coach, what might happen is that the next coach is a total failure again, and management might finally be fed up with Emery after another year and fire him, leading to this new coach to probably be fired as well if their is a new GM.. So the team would have 3 coaches in 3 years. Not good.. If they are going to fire Trestman, they can't stop there. Emery must be let go. They should be looking for that football Czar right now. There is no reason why they have to wait around to do that now. Hire the football guy and let him decide the fate of Emery. Ted Phillips can no longer be in charge of finding a competent GM as he is not a football guy..
  7. Hypothetical here, let's assume Trestman is gone at the end of the year and the Bears have to hire another coach. Which guy is on your radar? The list isn't nearly as appealing as it was 2 years ago. The up and comers: - Todd Bowles (Cardinals DC) - Pep Hamilton (Colts OC) - Darrell Bevell (Seahawks OC) - Adam Gase (Broncos OC) - Dave Toub (Chiefs ST) The retreads: - Mike Shanahan - John Gruden - Bill Cowher Current NFL coaches that might be looking for a job: - John Harbaugh - Rex Ryan - Mike Smith College coaches: - Kevin Sumlin - David Shaw - Brian Kelly I'm sure there are others I am leaving off, but these are the guys off the top of my head who might get an NFL head coaching gig. Who are you looking at? For me, in order, I would want to speak to: 1- Jim Harbaugh 2- Kevin Sumlin 3- Todd Bowles 4- Rex Ryan 5- Dave Toub Harbaugh has taken 3 straight teams to the NFC championship game in his first 3 years as a head coach. He's on his way out the door this year after conflicts with upper management, but he's still a top tier coach in this league and has ties with the Bears. There's been talk that his wife wants him to stay on the West Coast, which may take him off the list right away, but if he truly is available, the Bears would be idiots not to talk to him. I've always been intrigued with Kevin Sumlin, although I'll admit I don't follow college football all that closely. He reminds me of Mike Tomlin, just the way he presents himself. He comes off like a guy who is a leader of men, IMO. I'm always interested in these young guys coming into the league with something to prove. Kevin Sumlin would be near or at the top of my list for the Bears. Not sure if he's ready to make the jump yet, though. Todd Bowles may be the hottest head coaching candidate on this list in the off-season, so the Bears would need to speak to him ASAP. The little I've read about him, I like. He sounds like an aggressive kind of a coach, the way he implements his defense-- Always blitzing. It's about time this Chicago Bears defense got aggressive. They have never had a 3-4 defense in their history. There are some concerns with him though. He's not overly experienced being a coordinator (only his 2nd season) and he inherited some pretty good talent in Arizona, and works under one of the best head coaches in the league. Still, he'd be near the top of my list. Rex Ryan is only interesting to me because HE is interesting, and I like his creative style on defense. Nobody runs a defense like he does, and although his team has sucked for the better part of the last 3 seasons, guys love to play for him. He has a great personality to him. You just need to get him a quarterback.. If Emery or whoever the GM is picks the right QB in the draft, you could hit a homerun with Rex Ryan. The concern with him is that he's another Lovie. Great D-Coordinator, no clue about offense. I agree with that, which is why he's 4th on my list. And finally, Dave Toub. I might actually have him 4th on my list, he and Rex could be interchangeable. Something about him, I like. Special teams coordinators often make good coaches because they are the only coaches on the team that works with everybody, and are always put to the task of getting the most out of the bottom end of a roster. Obviously he has ties here. It would be weird though if Emery were to re-interview him after having already done it when he passed over him for Trestman. This might be a "In case Emery is fired too" interview. Two people I would stay away from are Pep Hamilton and Adam Gase. I want nothing to do with a coordinator for Peyton Manning (unless he was Mike McCoy since he had prior experience). Pep Hamilton is sort of in the same boat. He coordinates an offense run by Andrew Luck. I'm not very found of his scheme overall though. Pretty blah. No creativity in the run game.
  8. It's the worst thing as a fan, but losing these games probably gives them a better chance at winning the super bowl in the future. We get a better pick and an increase in the likelihood that at least one of Cutler, Trestman, and Emery will be gone.
  9. Top 5 pick is out of the question at this point, but they could get into the top 10 if they lose out.
  10. This game only validated the Bears decision to fire Lovie in the first place. What a pud he is. Good to see he still sucks at challenges.
  11. Yeah I noticed that. Strange. Zimmer was an idiot for playing man coverage against the Bears WR's. And for whatever reason, Bridgewater couldn't throw the ball down the field past 5 yards.
  12. The Bears have successfully beaten probably only 2 of about 4 teams in the league that are worse than they are.
  13. The Bears might be the best team in NFL history winning games they need to lose.
  14. I never liked his offense when he was available. I was a Mike McCoy guy (who I think still would have been an outstanding hire). Arians has that Mike Martz mentality where he constantly attacks down the field vertically, unlike the West Coast offense we are running now. He also got Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger killed for running that system. I didn't think his offense was the right fit for Cutler, but despite all that, he was the reigning head coach of the year. He's obviously been doing something right.
  15. TEN, STL, HOU, and the NYJ's are teams I think could show interest in Cutler. Maybe more. If the Jets don't get Winston or Mariota, they might be desperate to find a stop gap for a couple of years.
  16. That Bruce Arians is something isn't he?
  17. The Falcons are actually in 1st place.
  18. Unless Adrian Peterson returns, I don't see how the Vikings win another game this year. This is the worst team I have seen all year next to Jacksonville.
  19. Yep. Minnesota looks like the worst offense in football. Bridewater either can't throw it downfield or they are actively avoiding it as a gameplan. Bears D not getting tested at all. Everything is dink and dunk. Trestman still gave us hope for a tank win today, though. His god awful coaching cost this team at least 3 points and probably more if you count some of the pre-snap penalties, which is a reflection upon coaching as well.
  20. Trestman is such a freakin idiot. So god damn conservative in 2 min situations.
  21. They need to test him out at LT before the end of the season. He's too athletic to waste him at guard.
  22. Maybe he can get in the fight so the Bears can void that contract. Good lord what a joke. I would gladly trade Marshall for somebody like Johnny Manziel if the Browns were serious about dealing him. They probably would rather have a 1st rounder but Marshall wouldn't be a bad pairing with Josh Gordon. Would give them some firepower for Brian Hoyer. Just a thought. Marshall can no longer continue to be a Chicago Bear at this point. It's gotten so bad that even his production on the field doesn't outweigh the distractions anymore. His teammates think he's a clown. He's a total narcissistic piece of crap. I hate to say it, because I've enjoyed having him up until this point, but there's a reason he's on his 3rd team.
