If the first quarter is any indicator, we're going to see a repeat of last year. The offense is going to have to score 30 ppg to even be in some of these games. I have zero faith in Mel Tucker. Also, Briggs is done. He can't run anymore.
-
Where did I say it was hard? It just seems like something that you wouldn't even want to bother with during the season.
-
Makes sense. Since he doesn't play special teams, he pretty much has to solidify himself as the Bears #3 receiver, otherwise I don't see him being here long.
-
I don't know why anybody would want to do this.. flying back and forth between Chicago and NY once a week and worrying about playing football at the same time. My guess is that he won't be on the show as much in the winter during bad weather. That'd be about the dumbest thing he could do because of all the flight cancellations.

Jeffery, Marshall, Wilson, Holmes, Williams, and Morgan is a decent group of WR's if the Bears keep 6. Williams should be the punt/kickoff returner when he gets back to full health. Hopefully that doesn't take too long. Weems will be cut.
-
I'm still wondering how you he got injured. Did he even get on the field?? Probably injured himself getting out of bed in the morning. What a joke.
-
There's really no excuse to use any of your high draft picks or starters on special teams in pre-season with the amount of bodies you have in camp. I really think the rosters should be expanded in the regular season for that very reason.
-
Weems should have been gone last year. Cornelius Washington may have made the team. He was all over the place tonight, making plays on defense and special teams. Still would like to see the sacks though.
-
Clausen is Jason Cambell 2.0. Every pass is a check down.
-
Kadeem Carey needs reps with the 1st or 2nd team or he'll never see any yards behind the Bears 3rd string offensive line. They are brutal.
-
Game is unwatchable with all the penalties. I hate Roger Goodell.
-
Though it's only pre-season, I don't expect the Bears to be any good on defense this year as long as Mel Tucker is running the show. They'll be better than last year because its impossible to be any worse, but that isn't saying much.
-
Weems is atrocious. There is no way he should have made the team last year, and he damn sure shouldn't this year. Waste of roster space. The Bears desperately need a viable returning threat.
-
Yep. There's no excuses for DeCamillas. It's a given that a special team's coach will be working with scrubs, so there's no valid argument for him to be as bad as he has. This is exactly what you hire a special teams coach to do -- Get the most out of your worst players, and Joe D was not very good at it in Dallas either. Most of their fans were glad he left.
-
Looked to me like a back shoulder throw.

I forgot to mention Joe DeCamillas in my previous post and I don't know how. He should have been fired at the end of last season along with Mel Tucker. I never understood why the Bears hired these two clowns anyways, as if they were any good with their previous teams before coming here..

My thoughts: -There is not much to be taken away from any pre-season games, but it's always nice to see certain guys play well, as opposed to not playing well. -Zach Miller and the corner from Boston College (can't think of his name) look like possible nice finds. The Bears desperately need depth at the TE position and Miller looks like he could fill the part if he can stay healthy. -The LB'ers were pretty much invisible all game. Bostic and McClellin each looked like they gave up a few big passing plays off play action. -The running game was poor again. The Bears always seem to struggle right out of the gates in pre-season when it comes to their run game, though they were missing like 4 offensive lineman, so that's part of it. -The 1st team D-Line was pretty meh during their time on the field. Willie Young was getting some good pressure, and Ratliff made a nice play, but no sacks. I wanna see what Jared Allen can do for this team. Look forward to seeing him next week. - All in all, my biggest takeaway from this game is that the Bears really need Jeffery and Marshall to stay healthy this year, because with Williams and Wilson already hurt, there isn't much depth behind the two pro-bowlers, and we don't even know if Williams and Wilson are any good yet. The LB'er position also worries me. I think we could be looking at a LB'er with our 1st round pick next year if none of these young guys step up.

That was a beautifully thrown ball by Cutler to back shoulder it to Miller for the TD. I had no idea who the guy was before yesterday, and now he has definitely peaked my interest. I guess injuries have held him back and not his talent. Will be a nice addition to have to the team if he can stay healthy.

After watching the video, I can see why Martellus might have gotten upset, but there's still no reason to do what he did. Fuller did grab him up high and spun him to the ground.
-
Good. Don't know if any of you were listening to the radio this morning, but they were talking about how players and coaches don't really appreciate the way Martellus acts on the practice field. His effort is underwhelming, and he enjoys taking his sweet ass time walking back after a play is over when the coaches and players are urging him to hustle back. Interesting to see how year 2 works out for him. The honeymoon is over. People get tired of you after a while when you keep doing the same crap.

Agreed. Bennett needed to be suspended for being an idiot. Getting tired of all these fights. I'd start threatening players missing a game during the regular season if it keeps up, because there is no place for it. A skirmish is one thing, players get heated, but body slamming a teammate should never be tolerated. This was one of the reasons I didn't want Bennett when we signed him. Fortunately, he's turned out to be a pretty good football player, but if this kind of stuff keeps up, he wont be a Bear for long. Good to see Trestman and Emery not taking this lightly.
-
Will he be cut? My guess is no, but he was a 7th round pick, and now falling behind in his development with this latest injury. He's also probably going to miss a significant portion of the season if its an 8-10 week injury.
-
Excellent low risk, high reward signing. This guy was Kam Chancellor before Kam Chancellor, except bigger! He's built like a tank. If he's anywhere near healthy by the time training camp is here, he's the Bears best safety, and it wouldn't surprise me if he and Vareen were starting. It remains a huge question mark as to whether or not he can even stay healthy, but if he can, I really really like this signing.

That new DL coach looks like Jerry Sandusky. :/
-
He will probably have to beat out Greene for the final LB roster spot, or he'll have to be great on special teams to knock one of those guys off. He's real talented, so I'm sure Phil will give him a good look before deciding on whether or not to cut him.
