  1. Yeah I think they've got to go with a guy who's coached before on this next hire. Harbaugh would be 1st on my list, followed by Rex Ryan. Cowher has been out of the league for too long IMO, and Gruden just signed an extension with ESPN to stay on board until 2021, so he's not likely going anywhere. Saw this yesterday from a column written by Ray Ratto and got kind of excited..
  2. Could be Forte too as he didn't even attempt to get in front of a couple blitzers in last night's game. He looked like he checked out of that one pretty early on.
  3. As bad as we have looked I am still nervous as hell that we are going to beat Minnesota the last game of the year. I have no idea how they've won 6 games this year but they play like one of the worst 5 teams in the NFL. Their quarterback sucks, they have no run game, and they make stupid decisions on defense. I could definitely see the Bears winning that game and probably going from like 7th to 10th in the draft order because of it. I'll be so pissed.
  4. Are we still at #9 now or do we leap ahead of either NY or ATL to get to #7 or #8?
  5. Now we will put up points in garbage time, enough to make the loss not look as bad. The Bears can't even lose right.
  6. Another national embarrassment. I would love to see the entire office cleaned out at Halas Hall including the people who own the team. This franchise needs a cleansing of the highest order to get rid of all the awful.
  7. Giants win, Panthers win, and Minnesota is beating Detroit 14-7 in the 2nd quarter. Would be a huge win for us if the Vikings are able to eek out at least 1 more win to reach 7 so the last game of the year isn't as important for draft position. Somebody else might know this but with the Giants at 5 wins now, I'm not sure if the Bears would be ahead or behind them in the draft if they both went 5-11. They face St Louis next week. Panthers face Cleveland and Atlanta next. If we lose at least 2 out of 3, Panthers are guaranteed to draft ahead of us with at least 1 more win. They would still be ahead of us if both lose out since the Panthers have the one tie. You would think the Saints win at least two more games this year with the Bears, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay remaining. That gets them to 7 wins. We really need Atlanta to win at least one more game. They have a tough task with two divisional games to finish between Carolina and New Orleans.
  8. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...zing-jay-cutler The fact that Kromer still has a job today speaks of the abomination and joke this team has become. How can Cutler even look at this guy, let alone work with him as the quarterback.
  9. Pat Mannelly is on the radio and said according to some of the people he's spoken to (and you can assume that means players since he's only a year removed from being on the team) they are saying that the tears were forced by Kromer. Didn't feel authentic.
  10. Has any head coach ever survived firing 3 coordinators while retaining his own job? He's going to have to fire Kromer now as well as Mel Tucker and likely/hopefully Joe DeCamilis. I don't see any way Marc Trestman can keep his job now, but it is the Bears we are talking about.
  11. More at link http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...1211-story.html This team is a complete mess..
  12. Ian Rapaport apparently brought up the name Wade Phillips as a possible DC replacement on the radio yesterday. I haven't heard the interview yet, but I heard that's a name that was brought up. If true, I'd be all for it. Wade has a history of taking over historically awful defenses and making them the #1 or #2 defense in the entire league the very next year. He also might be the only quality candidate to replace Mel Tucker in a lame duck year under Trestman because he's old and most teams aren't calling asking for him to work anymore.
  13. The only person on this staff that should be back is Cliff Stein. Everybody else needs to go.
  14. If it was a straight up swap of players (if that's possible with the cap?) I would do it. I would draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round on top of it and let the two battle it out in training camp. Although, I'm starting to change my stance on signing or trading for players on other teams. After seeing the way GreenBay operates and how 43 of their 53 players on their roster have never played for another team, it would be nice if the Bears could start doing the same thing. The Packers are never big players in free agency. All of their players are drafted by them. Obviously the Bears haven't been able to do that because their drafting has sucked, but ultimately, that's how I want this team ran in the future. Start drafting better, stop signing mercenary free agents, and lets see where that takes us.
  15. His mistake wasn't choosing Kaepernick over Alex Smith, it was trying to change him into a prototypical pocket passer instead of sticking with more of the read option misdirection stuff that made him elite.
  16. Barring a HC change, which seems unlikely at this point, Paul Pasquiloni or Hoke will be your defensive coordinator next year. Phil probably drafts a 2nd or 3rd round talent with the 10th or 11th pick in the draft and we are right back in the same situation next season. #lifeasabearsfan
  17. Houston getting to 7 wins is huge. We don't have to worry about them anymore. STL looks like they are going to end the year on a high note (or low note if you're a Rams fan wanting them to bottom out). Jeff Fisher has them playing defense extremely well. They could conceivably win out, or win 3 of 4 down the stretch. We know somebody has to win the NFC South, so that team will leap to drafting 21st by winning their division. If the Saints beat us next week, but Atlanta wins the division and Carolina wins one more game, they all will be drafting after the Bears. The Giants getting to 6 wins is going to be a stretch. Best they can do it looks like is #7 which would be great. I still think the Bears will ruin all of this by beating a horrid Minnesota team at the end of the year. Hell, the way the Saints looked against Carolina, I'm not so sure they don't win next week as well..
  18. He has his faults, but he's still been to two Superbowls and won 1 of them. Can't knock him for that. I still think he's an excellent head coach despite missing the playoffs the last 2 years. Sometimes coaches need a change of scenery like players do.
  19. I would probably rather keep Marc Trestman than hire that psycho. Mike Tomlin is a situation worth monitoring. I don't think he gets fired unless his team completely collapses down the stretch. They lost to a bad Saints team last week at home, and they haven't made the playoffs since Tim Tebow was a starting QB if my memory serves me correctly.. A game which they lost by the way. If he's available, I would put him right up there with Harbaugh. He's won a Superbowl before, granted he inherited an already Superbowl talented roster after Cowher left, but still. He's another guy with HC experience that gets respect from his players. 1) Harbaugh 2) Tomlin 3) Ryan 4) Bowles 5) Sumlin
  20. I would take him in a heartbeat, but would make sure Harbaugh isn't an option first. Could you imagine what it would be like to have Rex as the HC and his brother Rob as the DC? lol
  21. I would like to see what Kadeem Carey can do the last 3 games of the year. There's no reason to play Matt Forte anymore. I would rest any important player the last 2 games of the year as to avoid what happened with Brandon Marshall last night or what happened to Brian Urlacher several years ago when that idiot Major Wright took out his knee in a game that only screwed up their draft pick... Forte, while productive, isn't a guy that D-coordinators are going to lose sleep over. It's weird ranking him among RB's because he is so productive yet I wouldn't take him over like 10 other RB's in this league if I had the choice. He is a better pass catcher than he is a runner, and he seems to have lost what little explosiveness he used to have as a young player. The future at RB is right around the corner. Give Kadeem Carey a chance. There's no risk. Let's see what Marquess Wilson can do in the last 3 games with Marshall out. Let's see if any of these young LB'ers can show out (I doubt it). Sit Chris Conte for good.
  22. According to the guys on the Score (I know) Trestman's job is safe and the football Czar thing has no shot of happening. The Bears are looking for reasons to not fire anybody. The best you'll get is probably Mel Tucker, but that begs the question: Which good D-coordinator would want this job as a potential 1 year stay with Trestman as a lame duck coach? Nobody. I see them promoting Pasquloni (sp?) or Hoke to DC and that's about it. Next year is already wasted if this happens. Typical Bears though.
  23. Exactly. It all starts at the very top. Phil Emery cannot continue to make decisions for this franchise as he has made them worse since he has taken over. What was that graphic they showed in the Packers vs Bears game where they showed how many Packers players were homegrown? Like 90% of their players were drafted by them, where as the Bears have so little players on their team that were originally drafted by the team. They have built their team around free agency because of their terrible drafting... Just shows you how different these two franchises are. If you allow Emery to select a Head Coach, what might happen is that the next coach is a total failure again, and management might finally be fed up with Emery after another year and fire him, leading to this new coach to probably be fired as well if their is a new GM.. So the team would have 3 coaches in 3 years. Not good.. If they are going to fire Trestman, they can't stop there. Emery must be let go. They should be looking for that football Czar right now. There is no reason why they have to wait around to do that now. Hire the football guy and let him decide the fate of Emery. Ted Phillips can no longer be in charge of finding a competent GM as he is not a football guy..
