  1. We will see how much the Eagles want to fight for seeding tonight. A win means next to nothing for them because the division will come down to their game against Dallas in week 17. Hopefully their players will not be as amped up tonight for that purpose. I don't think Chip Kelly had planned to rest anybody going into the game. We'll see how it goes. Go Bears!
  2. Bears can clinch tonight! Don't screw this up!
  3. I know. That's why I said I'd prefer the Saints to be the wildcard as opposed to the Panthers in Game 1 so if we win, we'd be playing in Carolina for Game 2 instead of in New Orleans where we'd surely lose. And of course, that all depends on the final seeding. We'd need to win the last two games to get the 3 seed, right?
  4. GB being gift wrapped a win by the referees. One of the worst calls I have ever seen in my life on a blocked FG.
  5. Outside of the injuries, the three major areas that have plagued the defense this season are poor angles , bad tackling, and gap discipline. Those are reflective of coaching. The Bears weren't this bad at it last year with Lovie. Chris Conte and Major Wright went from serviceable safeties to maybe out of the NFL in less than a year. Even the game planning by Tucker has been horrific this season. The Bears had no idea how to defend the read option against Washington last year because Mel Tucker was telling his DE's to crash down on every play, leaving the outside WIDE open. A hobbled RGIII tore our defense apart thanks to this awful strategy. I also don't think it's a coincidence either that our defense is so pathetic at getting to the quarterback. Mel Tucker's defenses in Jacksonville were routinely at the bottom of the league in sacks.
  6. Root for the Saints to make the Wildcard. Kenny Vaccaro just fractured his ankle, and is out for the rest of the season according to reports. If we can play the Saints in the 1st game at home in the cold weather, I believe we can beat them. Their defense becomes less scary in light of the Vaccaro news. Best case scenario for the Bears IMO: - Carolina wins the division - Saints win a Wildcard spot - Bears face Saints in 1st game, then Carolina in the 2nd game. We just don't want to play New Orleans in their dome, which is why we need them to win a wildcard spot. I feel like we could beat Carolina at home or on the road.
  7. I do not have a good feeling about this game. I'd like to see the Bears take care of the division this week instead of week 17 against Rodgers.. Lets hope both GB and Detroit lose today.
  8. He's likely to be fired at the end of the year. Mel Tucker is awful and should be fired the minute the season is over, although I am not very confident Trestman will see things the same way.. Lets assume Tucker is gone and Ryan is fired. Should the Bears try to get him as the new DC? I don't know if his personality meshes well with Trestman's but there's no question that Rex knows how to coach defense. Just a thought..
  9. Would be incredibly stupid to rest players and fall to the 4th seed. Good luck getting past San Francisco in the 1st game, and then Seattle in the 2nd if you get there. If you get the 3rd seed you may play the Saints and Panthers in the 1st two games instead. You tell me which route looks less daunting.
  10. No excuses for the Bears now. They control their own destiny to get into the playoffs. Lets hope Detroit and GB both lose Sunday afternoon before the Bears play so they can clinch Sunday nigh. Most important thing is to beat the Eagles first because they could very easily ruin our night. Cannot take them lightly. The fact that Minnesota just blew them out without Adrian Peterson and a bad QB in Matt Cassell gives me some optimism.
  11. There really is no easy route to the playoffs for the Bears. They are going to have to earn every bit of it to get in. They could potentially be playing for the division next Sunday against Philly if Detroit loses their next two and GB loses to Pittsburgh, but the chances of that happening are slim. Not to mention the Bears would have to beat the Eagles as well to clinch in that situation, which is no given either. If Detroit wins tomorrow night, I think they win out. I don't see them losing more than 1 game the rest of the season, and I think their best chance for that one loss is against Baltimore tomorrow. I think they have NY and MIN coming up after that.
  12. Greenbay probably just won the NFC North. The Bears have to win out either way, whether he plays or not, and who knows if GB would shut Rodgers down even in a loss tonight.
  13. And right on cue Conte takes a bad angle on a deep TD pass in a prevent situation..
  14. Cutler got it together in the 2nd half. Nice job bouncing back after a partial disaster performance in the 1st half.
  15. Earl should ALWAYS be open with coverage focused on Alshon and Brandon. That was a good throw and read by Cutler.
  16. Ratliff has been really good since getting healthy.
  17. Megatron has a competitor for best jump ball receivers in the game. Holy hell. Why are you not throwing to him more??
  18. Agreed. I'd draft a QB in the draft. Re-sign McCown, and at best, Franchise Cutler.
  19. Luckily Jason Cambell has been as bad as Jay has in this game.
  20. We scored, but I'm sick and tired of all the force balls to Marshall. McCown is clearly the better QB right now and should be playing.
  21. The self-implosion is contagious.
  22. Another Cutler pick when he's locked in to Marshall. How about throwing to Alshon, maybe?
  23. Cutler does not look comfortable in the pocket, and his throws are way off. He's either putting too much heat on them or floating them past receivers in the secondary. Not a great start for him.
  24. Holy cow. Jonathon Bostic actually got off a block and stuffed a run on that drive. Then Bowman picks Cambell off. Is this real life?
  25. No more redzone INT's please. Finish off a drive.
