  1. I have. The Bears obviously feel good enough to put him out there over Bostic because they feel like he's a better player. Lets not act like he was on the street because of a lack of talent/skill. His issues go beyond what takes place on the field. The Bears took a chance. Lets see if it pays off.
  2. Bostic's flashy plays this pre-season make it seem as though he's been playing so well while all the bad things get overlooked. He has a long ways to go. If Williams is healthy, he should be out there because he's probably the better player right now.
  3. What I learned from watching that game: - Peyton Manning is solidifying himself as the greatest quarterback of all time - The Broncos are insanely talented on offense, and will be difficult to stop all year long - The Ravens are going to struggle on both sides of the ball due to injuries and a lack of talent
  4. If Trestman is as smart as he appears to be, I think he will try to exploit Cincinnati's LB'ers in pass coverage, where they are horrible. The zone read, play action pass would shred their defense because their Lb'ers are built to play downhill, they are not quick enough to get back in pass coverage. A combination of the zone reads and quick passes should help negate Cinci's biggest strength on defense. The pass rush won't have time to get to the quarterback, and the Linebackers won't be able to play in the box, where they are most comfortable.
  5. With Sunday approaching quickly, I'm curious as to type of offense and defense we will see heading into Game 1 against the Bengals. What I am expecting is to see the Bears come out in a wide variety of offensive formations to keep the defense on their heels. I expect to see a good chunk (maybe more-so later in the year) of the pistol, not in terms of the QB run, but in terms of play action passing. Martellus Bennett should be a huge factor if they choose to go that route, because the middle of the field will be wide open. I think we know by now that Matt Forte will become the focal point of the offense. I expect him to see a lot of touches as a runner and as a pass catcher. He may very well approach the 80-90-100 catch territory before the season is over. But the most intriguing thing to me will be the offensive tempo. Will there be a lot of no-huddle? How quickly do they want to get a play off? I have to think with the way Trestman has put a major emphasis on organization and structure at the line of scrimmage, that there will be some sort of up-tempo style. I would be shocked to see the Bears call plays out of the huddle for an entire game this year. I think he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. -- On the defensive side of the ball, I expect to see more press man coverages, and blitzing from the DB's. Mel Tucker seems to me like the aggressive type as opposed to the conservative type we've seen for the last 8 years from Lovie Smith. They'll run a lot of cover 2 for the vets this season, but once the Lovie jock riders are gone, I think we might see an entirely different style of defense. What I will be watching for mostly is the way they plan on using McClellin. I just don't think the guy is a defensive end. Will be interesting to see if he gets any burn as a rush OLB as the season goes on. Marineli experimented with that last year, but I'd like to see more of it. Thoughts?
  6. Wooten is the better player. McClellin gets abused in the run game and has pretty much zero counter moves to shed off blockers. Both will see a lot of reps. Plus, Wooten is capable of moving to DT when the Bears bring out their rush, nickel package, which will allow McClellin, Peppers, and Wooten to all be on the field at the same time. Personally, I'd love to see McClellin get more reps at OLB as the season goes on. However, that doesn't seem like it's going to happen.
  7. No offense, but you aren't helping the cause at all with your constant baiting.
  8. Not sure I see the potential there for Jarrod Johnson. Hard to fix quarterbacks who have serious accuracy issues. His funky sidearm-ish delivery certainly doesn't help. I guess because of his size he's worth a shot on the practice squad to see what, if anything, you can salvage, and if it doesn't work out, so be it.
  9. The Vikings really must like taking in the castaways from the NFC North, don't they? Berrian, Aromashodu, Favre, Jennings, Webb.. Amy I missing anyone?
  10. You can dial it up however you want, but he did get penalized less, and give up less sacks per pass attempt in year 3 as a starter compared to the year's previous. It is an improvement, albeit nowhere near enough to justify him as a starter when you take other things into account. Folks don't seem to realize just how bad he was in years 1 and 2. Unfortunately, the options at LT were limited in those years because you had guys worse than Webb still on the roster, including Gabe Carimi, who I would argue was the worse pass blocking RT in all of football last season.
  11. The J.T Thomas cut really surprised me given how good he is on special teams. Would have taken him over Costanzo, as well as a couple of other guys.
  12. I don't remember what the PFF argument was even about. We all know that Webb is bad, but he did get better each year he was a starter. His mental makeup likely kept him from ever becoming a reliable starter. He was given an opportunity to win the starting RT position and he completely blew it. It was time for him to move on.
  13. The more I see him play in the NFL, the more I wonder how he was so successful at Florida with an arm that awful. Easily the worst throwing arm for a former starting quarterback this league has seen in a long time.. maybe ever.
  14. The Bengals have some nice weapons offensively, and their defense is usually pretty good. The Bears will win if they can control that defensive line and not get Cutler killed. Also, Cutler can't crap the bed if he has time in the pocket. I'm not that scared of the Bengals with our defense though. Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman are the two best starting CB's in the game. Dalton is prone to throw a pick or two in this game on the road. My early prognostication is Bears win 27-17
  15. Hurst, Fendi, Ahston, and Armando Allen should make the practice squad if they clear waivers.
  16. Read a tweet earlier today from a Bears media member that Trestman hinted at Marquess Wilson being ahead of Earl Bennett on the depth chart for the #3 position? We are officially out of the Lovie Smith era. What is a rookie receiver doing contributing in year 1 instead of being redshirted??
  17. I also don't agree with the Bears keeping possibly 4 TE's and a FB. With TE's as bad as they have, why clutter the roster with a bunch of scrubs?
  18. I don't get the Palmer cut. I don't agree with only having 2 QB's on the active roster. I think that's insane, just as I did last year.
  19. Palmer looks like a solid #2 right now. Although so did Josh McCown in the 4th pre-season game last year against the Browns.
  20. Jordan Palmer has looked really good so far. Impressive for only being with the team for 2 weeks. Also glad to see Joe Anderson making plays. He better make the team.
  21. This type of talk is usually code for a guy who's about to be released. I messed around with that idea before the start of the off-season, but now that the season is about to start, I'd be surprised if they would do it now. They might just be really comfortable with the progression of Marquess Wilson and Joe Anderson.
  22. Wtf is Marshall talking about? You can't: #1- be angry that you have been rushed and #2- be angry that you haven't been getting enough reps in pre-season. Now he doesn't know his role in the offense? Really, Brandon? Just shut up and catch the ball.
  23. His blocking must be phenomenal. I honestly haven't been paying that close attention to it, so I can't say for sure, but obviously it has to be pretty good if he's still on the team because his pass catching ability sure isn't.
  24. Haha, Fendi Onobun appears to have made the cut for this week. Not sure what the Bears see in him, and the fact that he's made the cut doesn't say much about the other TE's on this roster.
  25. I haven't paid that close attention to his blocking, but I've read that he still has a chance to make the roster if he continues to block well. He sure as hell can't catch.
