  1. I agree. If he's done for an extended period of time, it might be time to move on to somebody else. Can you really re-sign him to a long term deal after coming back from a serious injury (hypothetically speaking)? I don't think you can. I don't know if a franchise tag would even be worth it at that point. He'll be 32 years old after next season, and is now building up a history of injuries. The thumb, the concussions, the knee, and now the groin. I think they should draft a young QB early in the draft anyways, regardless of this injury, but If the plan is to move on from Cutler, you really need to draft one in the 1st round.
  2. With the news that they already have signed Jordan Palmer, you have to believe the outlook for Cutler's injury is not good. They are saying he was moaning in pain, and couldn't even walk to the locker room when he got into the tunnel. If he's out for the year, what do you do next season at quarterback?
  3. You really think he can hold that up week after week after teams get more film on him? They also won't be playing the Redskins defense every week either, so I have to take that into account.
  4. Both safeties aren't very good. Conte is the worst of the bunch. Maybe Tillman is a better option next year to make the transition.
  5. Redskins are trash. They are lucky they won. Injuries + bad defense + awful 2nd half officiating = win for them. But wtf was McCown doing checking the ball down on that 2nd attempt? You have one timeout left. THROW THE BALL DOWNFIELD. You have three receivers over 6'3. You probably aren't going to win anyways, but at least give them a chance. Horrible job at the end to take a sack. If there is one thing I know now after this game is that the Bears are either a really really bad team w/o Cutler or they are, at best, a one and done playoff team with him. The defense is bad enough as it is, but the injuries make them one of the worst, if not thee worst, D in the entire league. Bottom line, as I said at the beginning of the season, they had the talent to win 10 or 11 games this year if they stayed healthy. With injuries, they might be an 8 or 9 win team. It sucks, but that's the NFL. It takes a lot of luck, and the Bears just don't have any.
  6. All they needed was one stop, and they couldn't get it. Offense did it's job.
  7. Defense can't stop anybody. This would be a bad loss against a bad team, despite all the injuries.
  8. Referees really screwing us over right now. How that was not a hold is beyond me. Unacceptable to miss these calls.
  9. I normally don't say this about other players, but I would not care one bit if that idiot tore his knee up. Absolutely no reason for him to be head hunting the way he does. It's ridiculous.
  10. That call was so bad. Should be Bears ball.
  11. Cutler being taken to the hospital. Not a good sign. If he's out for the year, do the Bears win another game?
  12. This defense is a mess. They came out of a timeout and had no idea where to line up. Conte is freakin awful.
  13. And then that happens... Devin Hester TD.
  14. Wonder if they call back Jordan Palmer.
  15. If Cutler's injury is serious, it could be time to tank. He's walking back to the locker room like an old man. Couldn't tell if it's a hip or a leg. Btw, this is why I hate not carrying 3 QB's on the roster. You are one McCown injury away from Michael Bush as your quarterback..
  16. Jeffery has trouble catching passes cleanly. Pick 6 was all on him. David Bass looks like their best D-Lineman.
  17. Sigh... You give up 2 big plays on defense right out of the gate, and then you go 3 and out on the first offensive series.

The Bears need to stop Alfred Morris. That would pretty much secure a victory as long as Cutler and the offense doesn't turn the ball over. The only thing that Redskins defense does well is sack the quarterback. RGIII looks like he's getting better every week, but if the Bears can shut down the run game and make them one dimensional, they shouldn't have any trouble coming away with a win.
  19. Jay Ratliff isn't healthy enough to play right now, and quite possibly at any point during the season because of the serious injury he's still recovering from. We are talking muscle ripped off bone type of stuff. I don't really see him as a fit here anyways. Not sure how much you'd get out of a 32 year old 3-4 nose tackle on the downside of his career.
  20. There's a reason why he's been cut twice already this season. He's probably not any good. And if he has character issues, why bother?
  21. Well they did at least try.. They drafted two first round busts in Chris Williams and Gabe Carimi that should have solidified both tackle positions for the next 7+ years.
  22. You're right. I have no idea what the hell he's talking about. The Bears were the only NFL team to offer him a contract. That says a lot, doesn't it? He couldn't play anymore.
  23. I want to see more of McClellin in a 2 point stance, like ALL THE TIME! Enough with this pretending. He's not a defensive end. When he plays, he should be rushing as an OLB in the 3-4 front the Bears have been teasing with 1 or 2 times a game lately. That needs to happen 75% with him on the field. I think the Bears are last in the NFL in giving up plays over 20+ yards this season, which is a pretty good indication that they are definitely "breaking" in this bend but don't break defense. Most of that is on the lack of pass rush from the front four, but some of it is the confusion from the safeties and bad overall execution from Mel Tucker's schemes. They'll need to make a trade for a NFL DT or this is likely the way it's going to be for the rest of the year, and it can get even worse with injuries. The offense hasn't gotten to the point yet where they can win shootouts against legit teams, but they will need to be if this team wants to smell postseason success. The learning curve needs to be sped up.
  24. Injuries have played a huge part in the defenses downfall but they were pretty bad when most everybody was healthy the first couple games as well. I don't think it's a coincidence that this team is last in the NFL in sacks. IIRC Mel Tucker's Jaguar defenses were also last in the NFL in sacks the year before he took over the Bears defense. Rod Mareneli's presence is being understated here IMO. Also, the tackling and gap control shouldn't be this bad. That is on coaching. The offense is coming along, but I don't think they are as good as the numbers suggest. Their stats are very misleading when you take into account the way some of it has happen, specifically the games against the Lions and Saints when half their offense has come in the 4th quarter after the opposing team goes into prevent mode to protect a huge lead. Before last night, they weren't accomplishing much early in games. Part of me wonders if it's Marc Trestman not adjusting very well to adjustments other teams have made against the Bears. No one expects perfection, but when you have a defense that's really bad, the Bears "O" needs to be better than they have played if they want to make the playoffs and beat really good teams.
