    Terrelle Pryor

He did complete 57% of his passes with whatever hot garbage WRs they had in Oakland(65% his last year at OSU). I think it's not far fetched to believe he'd be up over 60% here in Chicago while also offering Trestman to get creative with Pistol and read option plays. I'm cool with drafting a QB, but with all the other needs, and only 7 picks, it'd be nice if they could pick up a guy like Pryor to take away 1 draft need. Not sure why signing him would be "Frivolous" unless you mean him wanting to leave Oakland because he doesn't wanna be a backup, only to be a backup here.
  2. If he's willing to take a backup position and knows his role I really wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him. I think if you surround him with some actual talent like we have here in Chicago he could end up being a solid QB. And with the Bears bringing back Jerrod Johnson, working out Boyd and Lynch, and then also last years talks of them running the pistol/read option plays, Pryor, at 6'6" with 4.32 speed he'd be a good fit to do just that. What says you?
  3. Don't really think Tillman is fast enough or Jennings is big enough not to play some sort of zone coverage.
  4. Again I should mention that I'm a ND hater, but still, I'm intrigued a bit by Tommy Rees as a 6R/UDFA. He went to high school with my cousin and he told me I just had to come out and see some of his games. Rees was a straight up monster. He's got the tools, and I think Trestman might be the guy to put those tools into play. Wasn't he dicked around a bit at ND?

    GBN 3 RD Mock

I'd be cool with it, Joyner, while small, is exactly the type of guy I want at FS. A guy who has corner experience who should really help on the back end and has the ability to drop down and cover slot WRs. If he doesn't work out at FS then you try him at nickle the following year with McGill(who I like) moving into Peanuts spot. He plays a lot bigger than his size suggests, reminds me a bit of Bob Sanders, same size, former Defensive PoY. 2R might be a bit of a reach though. I of course love the Donald pick.
  6. I'm just not so sure about that bold statement. I'm not sure what to think of Ratliff at this point, he's gonna be 33 years old and has come off 2 straight injury plagued seasons. I'm not sure you want him being more than just a rotational player. If Donald is there Allen-Houston-Donald-Young is wayyyy better....same could probably be said about a few other guys in the draft.
  7. I'd go with need. At least at 14. There might be a better player than Donald/HHCD/Pryor that drops (say one of the OTs) but I'd still take one of those guys first. As for SS and LB, I think we pass on both, but that's just my opinion. I think Mundy will be fine at SS and I think Bostic will do much better with talent in front of him.
  8. I really think the Bears are high on Wilson, and I think it will be for good reason. I haven't heard about how much he's bulked up, but I'm sure he has down there with Marshall and company. Hixon is another guy in the same mold as E. Bennett. Nothing flashy but he has a reliable set of hands. I wouldn't absolutely hate to see them grab a guy in the 5th or 6th round, but in the 3-4? ya no thanks. Bears need to take advantage of the defensive depth in the 1st 4 rounds IMO. QB/RB/TE are bigger "needs".
  9. C'mon fellas this needs more than just 3 people.
  10. I'll randomly take whoever is picking 10-20-30
  11. For a 6th rounder? sure. Would Trestman though? I'm not so sure. He brought up pass blocking being a key in their search for a #2 back, and from the reports I've seen he's a terrible pass blocker.
  12. Lol no biggy on the spelling errors, just given you shit like I do Stinger. Gladly you can take a joke. I have no problem going safety in the first, and am certainly not saying you're wrong in your desires for one. It makes total sense. With the comments from Emery about Conte though I kinda question whether he feels the same about going safety early. Same with what he said about the depth at CB. That all very well could just be GM BS though. While all the DTs we currently have do have some potential upside, they could also all potentially flop. Maybe DT in the first 2 rounds might be far fetched, even if Tuitt is there, but I'd certainly like to see them draft 2 in the first 4 rounds.
  13. I haven't heard of any player you just mentioned Ratliff and Paea COULD be solid, but they could also be simply average. I'd prefer they noth be part of a rotation, though I wouldn't absolutely hate to see either start at NT. Collins, who I believe is who you were referring too when you said Newton, is still just a huge question mark to me. He's shown flashes but I'm not sure I'd rely on him. Allen is not getting any younger, I wanna see him on a dominate DL. I really think Mundy will be a solid SS, and Emery seems to like Conte, so while I wouldn't hate HHCD or Pryor one bit I think Emery goes DT in the first....Where he goes in the 2nd might depend on who's there, if Tuitt or Hageman are there like Jason suggests I'm not sure you can pass on them for a guy like Ed Reynolds or Deone Bucannon who might be just as good as Terrance Brooks who you can get in the 3rd. At this point, looking at the WF mock (which has Donald going 12th) I'm locked in on Nix-Tuitt-Brooks-Rashaad Reynlods as my first 4 picks...They then go QB/RB/TE in some order to close out the draft.
  14. The draft is just that deep with talent this year. I heard someone on NFL network say you're gonna be getting 1st round talent in the 2nd and 2nd round talent in the 4th. Bears picked a good year to have so many needs on defense. I mean just looking at the 5th round of the WF mock I see guys like Ju'waun James, Lamin Barrow, Antone Exum, Terrance Mitchell, Kelcy Quarles, 3 really good centers and a Heisman Trophy candidate..... This draft, at least on paper, is just FILLED with talent.
  15. Jason suggesting passing on a S in the first 2 rounds broke the interwebs!!! Really though, I wouldn't hate it one bit. Especially when you consider the comments from Emery about wanting to talk extension to Conte and that he will compete for his job. That may just be smoke and mirrors, but if true I can see them waiting till the 3/4r to draft a S. I also would prefer they wait a little bit on CB as well. CB is incredibly deep this year so they can grab a guy like Walt Aikens, Rashaad Reynolds, or Chris Davis(who could also compete with Williams/Weems/Hixon/Ford as a returner) in the 4th. Since my last comment in the other thread I kinda fell in love with the idea of Nix/Tuitt in the 1st and 2nd, and I say that as a Notre Dame hater. I know it was at a collegiate level, but look how good those 2 made Manti T'eo look at MLB. With their size I can see that translating a bit and making Bostic (Or DJ, and yes I see one of those being the MLB) look much much better. I of course only want that to happen if Donald is gone, I'm simply not passing on him if he's there. In the scenario above I'd be totally happy with.... 1R- Nix 2R- Tuitt 3R- Terrance Brooks 4R- Rashaad Reynolds Allen-Nix-Tuitt-Houston is gonna be awfully tough to run on, then Allen-Tuitt-Houston-Young should give OLs a lot of trouble in pass defense. You keep Reynolds in the slot next year and draft a CB in the 1st or 2nd round and boom, you're golden.
  16. I'm intrigued by him even being considered. I'm "all in" on drafting 2 DTs in the first 4 rounds, I'd like to grab a 3T first but if Donald is gone I would highly consider taking Nix over Hageman(who's probably the 2nd best 3T in the draft). If they can pair Nix with one of the LSU boys, Sutton, Easley, or Reid(who I really like) in the 3/4R....or hell maybe even Tuitt in the 2nd(though I'd like to see a S here)....I'd be a happy panda.
  17. This. Also when he starts making NFL money it's very likely he can bulk up a bit while still maintaining that top level explosiveness. Plus at his height that 285 is distributed about the same as a 6'2" 300 pound man(Jernigan) or a 6'6" 311 pound man(Hageman), so as far as being a wide body to stop the run it's not like he's a bean pole. Watching some of his highlights he's getting "Manhandled" by double teams, which is to be expected by most any DT in the league. If he's forcing double teams at the next level that's fantastic because it gives everyone else 1 on 1 matchups and it frees up our LBs to roam free. Then there's of course the article I posted a few weeks ago that took a look at some of the drafts DTs. They took a look at every snap played by Hageman, Jernigan, Sutton, and Donald. Against the run Jernigan was the best with an efficient tackle (A tackle made within 3 yards of the LOS) every 7.24 snaps. Aaron Donald came in 2nd with a eff tackle every 9.41. Hageman had one every 11 and Sutton had one every 14....So, he was nearly on par with Timmy Jernigan who is the best run stuffer in the draft. http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/4665...k-dt-metrics-10 Make no mistake there's a reason why the kid has been called the 3rd best prospect in the draft.
  18. That remains to be seen, I'll be a little shocked and disappointed if Briggs starts the year on the DL. Don't count out Greene yet either, he was a monster in college and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him become a starter at some point. He drew comps to Briggs but there was also talks about him being able to play in the middle. I get your logic, and I wouldn't hate to see a LB, but I'd prefer we see what we have in Bostic and to a lesser extent Greene(and a lesser lesser extent SMC as well).
  19. We shall see about LB, we're 6 deep at LB right now if you include the ST guy we got from the Panthers. I just don't see it as an early need, but we obviously won't agree on that.....As for Smallwood, I liked him up until the combine....Dude ran a 5.01 40, that doesn't really fit the mold of the guys Phil has brought in here at LB (Williams 4.45, Bostic 4.61, Greene 4.71 are all pretty fast). I'd love to trade down though, esp if Donald is gone. This draft is hella deep so the more picks the better. No way I pass on Donald though if he's there.
  20. I have mixed feelings about all 3. #2 obviously starts out as my favorite since it starts with my favorite player in the draft, but then I don't like waiting that long to address FS (though I do like Dowling). #1 I'm cool with, but I'm not passing on Donald if he was there. There's not a person in this draft (yes even Clowney) that I'm taking over Donald. #3 again, not passing on Donald (who's twice the "Freak" Johnson is). I don't hate the idea of taking Filo and understand the logic of moving Long to OT but with other needs I'd rather wait a year. I'd go with.... 1R- Aaron Donald DT Pitt- My favorite player in the draft. Allen-Houston-Donald-Young on passing downs should be absolutely lethal. 2R- Deone Buccanon S WSU- I believe he's versatile enough to man either safety position. 3R- Daquan Jones DT PSU- Big body to man the 1 tech next to Donald. They should be a real good duo for years to come. 4R- Pierre Desir CB Lindenwood- Really love what I saw out of him at the Senior Bowl, he may be a bit raw but has huge upside IMO. 5R- Dontae Johnson FS/CB NC St.- Drafting him as a FS, wanted a guy at FS who is good in coverage, I got that. Will compete with Mundy. 6R- Tyler Gaffney RB Stanford- Tough in between the tackles runner with good hands and great at protecting the passer. Excellent size to carry the load 6R- Colt Lyerla TE Oregon- Huge talent who's worth taking a risk on. If he puts his past behind him he'd be a HUGE steal ala Marquess Wilson last year.

    Backup QB

I think if Freeman went through training camp with the team, actually got to build a rapport with the receivers, and learn the playbook he'd fine coming out of camp. If Cutler went down he's the guy I'd feel most confident with. He was a budding star before Shiano got his hands on him, put in the right situation he'd be fine. I don't see drafting a rookie as a downside whatsoever, I'm just kinda thinking outside the box.

    Backup QB

I'm not sure any of those QBs I listed sans maybe Freeman will be looked at as a starting QB, in reality and in their mind. I wouldn't hate a rookie at all, just thinking a little outside the box here.

    Backup QB

I still kinda wanna wait a year or 2, or 3 on a rookie QB. Jay is here for 3 years (at least), rookies are signed for 4. If we wait a year (or 2, or 3) then that gives us more time to reap the benefits of have a QB who's making nearly nothing. Gimme Freeman/Grossman/Kolb/Garrard/Flynn
  24. BTW only one of those guys went to Florida....Anthony Johnson is an LSU Tiger....way to go Jason I wouldn't mind Dom Easley in the 2nd though, another Gator, then going for Purifoy in the 3rd if we go gator-gator.
