That's a fun little schedule. A rematch of last years disaster against the Eagles. The Jags should be much improved under Gus Bradley and with all they've added. Seahawks are the Seahawks, Browns are a QB away from being pretty good as well..
-
I see that now....sure doesn't match up with all 3 of their experts who have him in the top 14 or as the #1 DT in the draft...odd....maybe it was never updated?
-
Lol what? Who's doing the ranking? Mayock, Brooks(11th overall) and Jeriemiah(14th overall) on NFL.com all have him as the top DT in the draft. As for Skov, I'm not a big fan, I think he's better of staying in a 3-4 where he doesn't have to drop into coverage as often.
-
Ideally, if I were GM, they wait till the 3rd or 4th to grab a CB since this years draft is incredibly deep there, but I wouldn't hate to see him as a 2R pick or perhaps more realistically a trade down option.
-
True, though I'm not sure he's on the same level. Between college and the pros he's returned 12 kicks total. I like Sims, also like Gaffney and Grice.

Ya, after Trestman talked about blocking being important in the #2 RB role them working out the tiny DAT is a little puzzling. Maybe they were seeing how he holds up in pass blocking...MJD is a smaller back but he's real good at pass blocking, so I suppose it would be possible. I don't really worry about the return game. Ford looked like a good returner in preseason, Chris Williams is highly intriguing, and Hixon has been above average....One of those guys should be able to step up.
-
Ya, probably just takes the Weems role as the gunner if anything at all. Could be "camp fodder".

Well for what it's worth, Kromer did the same thing with the Saints. When I was breaking down Bushrods game tape from 2012 the Saints had an extra OT out there about 25% of the time. It wouldn't surprise me if Eben still plays more snaps.

Gonna go ahead and hijack this thread...Javon Ringer is a name to keep an eye on. I remember him at MSU and he always gave my wildcats fits. To refersh myself on him as a player here is what Kiper had to say about him coming into the draft.... With what Trestman said about pass protection being important I wouldn't be surprised to see him catch on. Here's a little ESPN feature on him....

eh, maybe bring him in as a backup will cool down his ego....and for what it's worth I googled "Josh Freeman is a bad teammate" and the search resulted in a bunch of articles talking about his his teammates sticking up for him and calling him a good teammate. Shiano was the bigger problem. Then in Minny it's just a tough predicament he got put in, I don't know if there's ever been a QB traded or picked up in the middle of the season that performed well. He had no chance to build a relatationship with his WRs and only had a week to learn the playbook. That's an awful lot to ask for from anyone. All in all, for what he's gonna command salary wise I think he is well worth the risk. You can't deny that before last year he was a solid starting QB.
-
Hopefully Forte doesn't get injured if they draft him....Not a guy I really want as an every down back....But if we're really talking about 5/6R I'd have no problem with it.
-
I really have no problem with Freeman as the backup. I don't know what happened last year but his previous 3 years he was an above average starter . If anyone can get him back to his former self it's Trestman. With Cutler here for 3 years at least I have no problem grabbing a vet vs a rookie this year.
-
Ha, this is true. I think this shows just how much of an impact Kromer makes. In 2012 Garza was god awful and DLP was fantastic. In 2013 DLP wasn't the same player and Garza had a better year than he did.
-
I think you're looking to much into that tweet. Garza LAST YEAR was better 7.2 vs 4.0, so there's that. Teams could also view him as a product of that Saints system where Brees gets the ball out quickly, the consistently threw out extra lineman to help, and he had 2 pro bowl guards around him. I'm not sure Garza has the mobility to to play guard in this system. They'd go from a highly athletic guard who was great at getting out and pulling to a 35 year old Garza. I think Longs mobility is vital on that line....I think they stick with what they put out there last year.
-
It does sound a little silly but in a draft this deep grabbing an extra 2nd and 3rd would be huge. If they hit on those guys it may set them up nicer for next year and many years to come. I'm still not passing on Donald if he's there, but if he's gone I'm all for trading down. You're still gonna get a really good player at 30 and should get pretty good players in the 2nd and 3rd. I'd almost be more afraid of SF if they kept all their picks and continued to get deeper and deeper.
-
Can never have enough quality depth on the DL. I don't expect Long to move from OG, perhaps ever, remember Kromer runs an inside out scheme where he puts mor emphasis on guard play.
-
If Donald is still on the board and they take Tuitt I'll be a little upset. Tuitt does offer some upside but Donalds upside is that of an all pro/pro bowl level DT. If Donald is gone I wouldn't hate to see them take Tuitt over HaHa/Pryor/Hageman/Jernigan/Nix.
-
3-4R meaning 3-4 round draft pick.
-
I really think he's gonna improve not only our young fringe DEs but also help the LBs get off blocks. That was one of Bostics biggest flaws last year, and I believe the same is true with Greene.
-
I don't get your stance on LB....You're so sure we'll be drafting one in one thread then when you post a mock, you have them drafting 1 in the 6th. Not a big fan of Quarles in the 2nd(think he's 3/4R player), but I guess I wouldn't hate it. The rest of it I like...assuming Donald was gone when you picked
-
Well do you see him starting at SLB at least next year if you're drafting a MLB? Or are you just straightup benching him a year after drafting him in the 2R? Playing at Sam takes him off the field in the nickle package which takes away what was his greatest feature last year and that's his cover skills.
-
Even if that is the case, which it very well could be, there are 2 DTs on a team. I HIGHLY doubt he was drafted to be a starter 3 years down the line, that doesn't make a lick a sense. You're wayyyyyy underestimating Bostic, no way the should give up on a 2R pick after a year.
-
I'm not saying my opinion holds more weight than anyone elses here, no need to get heated here. If you think DJ was brought back to be the starter, which you have said in the past, then they shouldn't take a backup in the first. Phil has also never locked Bostic into OLB for this year.
-
You wanna talk about durability issues with Donald, well Mosely already actually has those question marks. IF they want a LB in the first, which I would despise, I'd rather go with Shazier. Both guys you can trade down to get.....Mosely isn't on the level of the other guys in Adams post IMO.

As far as talent goes I'd go Donald, Gilbert, Dix, as far as top 3 in relation to Bears needs I'd go Donald, Dix, Pryor. I may be the only one, but I prefer we wait till the 3/4 to get our CB. If Donald is gone and Gilbert/Dix are there, even though I think Gilbert is better, I'd take Dix.
