I don't care how short he is, Aaron Donald is gonna be a monster. Watching the drills on NFL network and he's just dominating guys who are gonna be 1st round OL pieces. He's being talked about as low 1st early 2nd round pick. Wouldn't mind seeing the Bears trading down a bit and taking him in the 1st. He's gonna be an absolute pest for anyone to block at the next level. He's shown that he can beat guards with power and just a plethora of crafty speed moves. You never know what he's gonna throw at you. And there are some short guys in the NFL that are really good, see Kyle Williams, Glenn Dorsey, and Geno Atkins who are all just an inch taller than Donald.

Also...The Pasquanelli signing was never made official, but he is sitting with the Bears staff at the Senior Bowl so that would seem to make the signing pretty official....I'll say it again, really like the signing. Trestman wanted someone with experience and he sure got it with this guy, been coaching since 1972(15 years before this guy was born).

This is pretty much a given. Emery knows he needs to rebuild the D, I would be shocked if he went with an offensive player if there were still holes to be filled on defense. Add Deone Buccanon to the meetings list. CBS has him as the top SS in the draft but has him going in the 2nd round. He's said to be an absolute thumper who's one of the games most intimidating players. Like with many thumpers his tackling technique is being questioned (sounds like Bostic) and is the reason he's not being talked about as a 1st round pick.

Wouldn't shock me at all, and not because of the D sucking lol.

I actually think it might have the opposite effect on Jays image. I think his criticism is unjust and that Jay is a really cool guy, I think he could be shown in a positive light on the show. I can't imagine why you wouldn't wanna see some behind the scene stuff, should be good tv.
-
I knew there'd be someone....Why wouldn't you wanna see it?

A little late on the news mi amigo, it was posted in another thread...But this does deserve it's own thread so once again, congrats Long, hopefully it's the first of many.

My god, your hate for him is unreal. He's right on at least 7 of those points. Seattle didn't score after the fumble botch.....Don't remember what happened after the rouging the kicker botch.
-
Gotcha. I still think they could benefit from another big pass catching TE. The mismatches it would present along with what the Bears like doing with their down field blocking from the receivers would just be killer. But I don't want it to come at the sacrifice of the defense.
-
Actually, bulk wise, Donald should be wider. Hageman and Tuitt are 6'6" so they have more room to distribute their weight.
-
Tajh Boyd met with the Bears...At one point he was thought to be a 1st round pick but now CBS has him as a 5th rounder a round in which I'd be down to draft him.

Britton is a little different to what another TE can give you. He's more of seal the edge type of guy, he doesn't have the speed to really get down field and block. I just imagine how pretty a swing pass to Forte would look with Marshall, Bennett, and another big TE like the dude from Iowa out in front of him would look. Like I said though, it's a luxury until they added a shit ton of players to the D.

Based off what everyone was saying last year about the "ace" and "22" offense (2WR 2TE 1RB) it sure sounded like Trestman wanted to run a Pats like offense. I agree that it would be a luxury at this point with the questions on defense but if they're able to fix most of it in FA then I'd love to see a TE drafted in the mid rounds. Rosario is far from glorified OLineman at 6'3" 240. With the way our recievers blocked this year I'd love to see yet another big body added to help block down field and also create yet another mismatch.

Like this one even more. More explosive than the Hageman/Tuitt duo. Don't like the punter in the 6th round but I know where you're coming from with the pick.

http://deadspin.com/the-nfl-can-force-thes...dium=socialflow Some of you old school guys probably won't like it, but I personally would love it. I don't have HBO at the moment but I'd definitely opt to get it if it means I got to watch the inner workings of the Bears. Maybe we can see why the Bears like Tucker so much lol.
-
Yup, Kyle Long is a pro bowler...fantastic.
-
Who is this Truitt fellow you speak of? I kid I kid. I'd be down with that, not a big fan of drafttek though, their mocks always seem out of whack.
-
Ya, in hindsight I would have loved to have gone Ogletree-Warford with the first 2 picks. But as was said back when it happened the Bears had no way of knowing he'd fall that far and if he was drafted they would have been up shits creek with what was left.....Long at LT wouldn't surprise me, but remember, Kromer runs things from the inside out so guard is actually more important on his OL.

Last year we had a thread for all the rumblings that went on at the Senior Bowl, perhaps we can do that again this year, mods pin this if you agree. Anyway, per Biggs Iowa TE CJ Fiedorowicz said first team he met with at Senior Bowl was #Bears I'm somewhat intrigued by them even talking to a potential "impact" TE. By impact I mean a player who will contribute. Right now C.J. is slotted in the 3-4 round range, which if the Bears fix a good deal of their defensive problems in FA and then grab another couple defensive guys to start the draft I'd love to see them grab another big TE. I'd prefer they wait and take a guy like Jordan Navjar, who was under utilized in the Baylor spread offense but looked impressive at the East West shrine game. EDIT- My 2000th post....man tax return couldn't come any sooner, I need to get my car fixed bad so I can have a life again lol.
-
That'd be pretty sweet....Would counter balance,in my mind, the fact that Larry Warford was named PFFs offensive player of the year
-
Yes indeedy, that has been my point all offseason so far.

Could be a hybrid, could be a straight 4-3, or it could be a 3-4. I don't see the player personnel leaning one way or the other to be honest. If the stick with a 4-3 they still need to sign 3 starting lineman(if Peppers is cut) 2 starting safeties and 1 starting CB. For a 3-4 you could argue that they need 2 starting lineman(assuming Paea gets a spot), 2 safeties, and a LB. So unless you don't think Paea is a good starting option as a DT/DE(whatever you wanna call it) then the number of starters needed is exactly the same.....One could argue that it may just be cheaper to sign our own though.
-
Nice to see our lone bright spot on defense make it to the pro bowl, even if it is as an alternate.
-
Oh and sorry for kinda hi-jacking the playoffs thread...... Go offense! I mean go Denver.

Perhaps I am indeed confusing you with someone else, so I'll have to go back and see what you actually suggested that I apparently skipped over. In the end though it's all very pointless though, and I acknowledge that I am partaking in the pointlessness. He's here to stay for at least another year so while we all may have some gripe with the situation I put my trust in the guys with NFL jobs. It was just a year ago that he interviewed for the job and the people in charge liked what they heard, perhaps it's wise they give him a fair shot to do what it is he set out to do with, hopefully, a healthy squad. Just please Emery, give me some damn horses on the DL! Defense will never do a damn thing without the guys up front getting pressure.
