  1. #Bears considering Brendan Daly for D-line job. Was position coach for #Vikings last 2 years, #Rams before that. He's always been a 4-3 guy so that could be telling. Here's a good read on who he is as a coach... http://m.startribune.com/sports/?id=166055156 I like the sound of him.
  2. Lol I've responded to everything you've said with my opinions. You talked about moving Briggs to MLB, I responded with the fact that Bostic only played in 1 game before Briggs got hurt so it was my opinion that move would have made no sense. It's also my opinion that veteran players should have a say in where they wanna play. Briggs doesn't wanna move inside, and Tillman who was also hurt for half the season and wouldn't make a difference doesn't wanna move to Safety. Peppers at DT over Wootton does make a little sense but you're still gonna be forced to play SMC more than he should be playing and defenses will continue to attack him. What the Saints DID do is add a 1st round safety, Kenny Vacarro, and a corner Keenan Lewis who the previous year was either 1 or 2 in pass deflections. Adding a #1 corner and a 1st round safety will go a long way in helping the pass defense(which gave up a gaudy 440 ypg).....I won't deny that Rob Ryan and the scheme change didn't help them a bunch though. Again, we all have opinions here. I was actually on the fence with my opinion of Tucker, and have gone on record in other threads that I would be cool with firing him, but of course that gets lost in the shuffle. All I've been doing is trying to add some rationale to the decision, but of course it's all getting taken out of context just like last years big argument.
  3. Relax, I was being sarcastic. My other arguments are far from weak but everyone here sticks to their guns so while you may think my arguments are weak, I may find your arguments weak as well. I back everything I say up.
  4. I really wouldn't be surprised either way. Right now the D needs so many players that they can fill holes for either defense. The players they DO have signed on defense fit both schemes IMO. Briggs- I've got no evidence to back this up, but it seems like when Briggs does blitz he has some good success. I think he fits in a 3-4 Jennings- Although cover 2 is still possible in a 3-4, man to man is more of the norm and Jennings has the speed to play m2m. SMC- Better fit in a 3-4. Not sure he has the coverage skills to play LB in a 4-3 Paea- I really think he can play the NT or even DE in a 3-4. Bostic- Some scouting reports coming into the draft said he's better suited to play ILB in a 3-4 Greene- I'm reading that Rutgers played some 3-4 groupings where Greene lined up inside, so he has some experience there Washington- Can be a freak as a rush LB Bass- See above Frey- Good enough size and speed to provide depth at CB. So player personnel can go either way IMO. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. I'm not sure if the Paul Pascuanelli as LBs coach rumors have been confirmed yet, but if true it may be telling sign that they run at least some sort of hybrid.
  5. Uh oh, me and Gak agreed on something...were about to get another blizzard.
  6. Garza's cap hit this year was 2.1, I'd be surprised if he got a raise at his age. Call me crazy, not like a lot of you haven't called me worse, but I wouldn't count out Taylor Boggs being the guy next year. I believe in Kromer that much.
  7. It's today's society as a whole. The ignorance level in the world, or perhaps just the US, is ridiculous. Chivalry is dead.....And I'm saying that as a 26 year old young pup compared to some of you guys lol.
  8. Not a bad couple of names there. Brown, judging from a quick google search, seems to want to stay in New York, but then again 75% of players will say they wanna stick where they are and it doesn't necessarily happen. DLP probably hits the market and would be a good signing but I'm kinda mixed on spending any sort of "significant" money on the offense. The D could really use every penny spent on them, they need a plethora of starters and more quality depth. Also, I retract all previous statements about Micheal Bennett not fitting in a 3-4. After keeping a close eye on him in todays game I think he'd be more than big and strong enough to play in a 3-4. If they move to a 3-4 I want Bennett, Cody, a 2nd tier safety, a 2nd tier CB, and some depth. Give me Bennett and the top safety available if they stick with a 4-3
  9. Manning did the Pats D dirty. 8.9 yards per play was the 3rd most by any team this season. Bears worst game against Philly they gave up 8.2 yards per play.....But injuries don't matter when you have Bill Belichek right? =p (semi sarcastic)
  10. Ya, he's actually on that same list I linked. Some I agree on, some I don't. I agree with the list on Raji though. I don't think he's terrible, there's a difference between bad and overrated, I just think he's going to be paid way more than he's worth.
  11. Lol you guys are great. Fire Trestman, fire Emery, what are those clowns doing in the NFl making dumb ass decisions like hiring and then keeping Mel Tucker. Unforgivable.
  12. They can keep Raji. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi...content.11.html Can probably get a rock in the middle in the 2nd-4th round who would be just as good as him or probably better.....Or give me Terrance Cody who will come much, much cheaper.
  13. Sure am glad I'll be leaving here pretty soon and won't have to jump into this argument for at least a day. What little speed Peppers still had gets zapped playing inside. You're not gonna get any pressure from the 3T with Peppers or Wootton playing there. The run defense won't be much different if at all. Teams were attacking SMC all day, having Wootton on the other side would make no difference. I missed the part where you said Peanut to safety. Yes, I would love that, but again, he doesn't wanna play there, and yes I think what your veteran players don't wanna do matters. As for the track record statement. This whole convo, or at least my side of it is based on this year. This year Monte "Best in the world" Kiffin led his injury plagued teams to one of the worst defenses in NFL history. What changes that fact?
  14. And I've already said that I think Phillips is better than Tucker. Also, i find it rather hilarious that you guys wanna give Jack Del Rio the credit for the 1 good season Tucker had in Jax but wanna give him the blame for the previous 2 years despite the fact that Del Rio was calling the plays those years and the good year they had Tucker was calling the plays.
  15. Really hope Ward makes it to FA but I kinda doubt it. Cleveland has a ton of cap space and with a few key additions on offense they could be a fairly decent team. If we move to a 3-4 (writings on the walls) give me Ward and V. Davis.
  16. I've already addressed the position changes. Hasn't Briggs been on record saying he doesn't want to move to MLB anyway?....Of the 3 starting pro bowlers 2 of them are in the secondary and 1 is an aging declining Julius Peppers who wouldn't have been any better than Wootton at DT. How was that last post stupid???? Just because Kiffin has a track record its ok that he coached his injury plagued team to the 3rd worst defense in NFL history? But because Tucker only has 1 good year under his belt it's different??? I'm sorry nut I don't see the difference
  17. What's funny is that 3 of the 5 guys mentioned are ranked 25th, 26th, and 32nd in yards allowed.
  18. Meh, track records should hold no ground in this argument. You guys are talking about how a good DC would have been at least not historically bad despite injuries. What difference does it make that he's been good in the past. You did add that you would have fired him so I can't dispute this post too much.
  19. It's possible, I won't pretend that its not. With all, or at least most the focus being on defense this offseason I'm hoping for at least middle of the pack. I think that's completely plausible barring an injury shit show.
  20. This is silly. It wasn't just one guy missing.
  21. And why not??? His team gave up the 3rd most yards in NFL history. Not just Cowboys franchise history, the whole NFL. I thought good DCs were supposed to "Sheme differently" when injuries happen to prevent their defenses from being historically bad?
  22. Lol whatever, this is pointless, he's here to stay. Fact of the matter is he was "set up for failure" with the all the injuries and lack of depth. I'm just gonna leave it at that.
  23. Lmao to the bold. Ya, that makes a whole lot of sense. How many times do I have to address the Saints and New England?? They still had impact players on the field....Bears had shit left on defense. I don't fault them for keeping Bostic where he was, it's where he was drafted to play. Giving up on him after a few games is just silly, you gotta hope he turns it around.
  24. And how ironic is it that both teams ran the same scheme, had crippling injuries, and both kept their DC. I wonder why? Oh yeah, injuries fuckin suck.
  25. Only other guy they made public as to who they were interviewing was Bill Sheridan....Who I brought up awhile ago as a potential DC, here's what I said... He's always ran a 4-3 though. He was a LB and a DL coach before moving to DC positions with the Giants and Tampa.
